Kuro reacted to ambivalentideal in Difference between male and female vkei fans?
Honestly, I don't 100% understand the need to pick it apart and try to figure out how certain genders are supposed to or tend to like vk. I wish we could just sort of enjoy it and leave it at that but I guess that's not realistic. As a trans person (I bring this up because I used to be a "typical teen female fan" and am now a male fan, so I've been on both sides), it was always a mixed bag of loving the style and wanting to be like/dress like them, being attracted to the pretty members, and loving the music and the scene in general. It was like that from the beginning for me and honestly I would bet that it's mostly mixed of a few or even all of those things for most people. It's true that I used to be more into the members back then, but I think that had more to do with me being a teen than my perceived gender at the time lol. I still find a handful of members good looking but that's not much of a draw for me anymore (I am gay though, and js but I'm getting sick of seeing the claim on here that "gay men aren't attracted to androgynous men" lmao speak for yourself henny). Now I love the music and I guess I am pretty into the collecting aspect of it, but I think I have always been. I've always been into the aggressive, harsher sounding bands (UnsraW used to be one of my favorites back then) so idk if that really has anything to do with it. I'm more into the style than ever too, I started trying out my own vk looks within the last year. That's my personal experience anyway. And as others said, of course there is a difference between western fans' experiences/tendencies and those of Japanese fans. Also, I think the culture is changing over in Japan surrounding male fans. I think they're becoming more common and band members in newer bands are becoming a bit more open minded about it. Especially backed up with what Paraph was saying. The whole vk culture has changed so much even from when I first got into it and I definitely think that's part of it that has changed for sure, even if just by a bit.

So I just looked them up and found this:
Not unusual, my arse. As an autistic person, I'm offended. How could you even say something like that in front of your child? "This school doesn't meet the standards I set for my child's education so I'll murder her". Appalling.

A new camera. It didn't cost me much but the quality's pretty great, so that was a win-win. I just told the guy in the shop I wanted sth with a decent enough quality for pictures alone because I'm going to a convention on Saturday (my second one and I'm so excited~ ) and my iPod camera's a bit buggered because there's a mahoosive crack over the lens. Just tested it out and it's perfect. £28 well-spent!

When I started working with elementary school students (I'm not a teacher it was more about teaching them how to use a PC more than ten years ago because most teachers were rather old and had no clue of it but it had to be taught), being the middle of my 20s back then and 154 cm I really was afraid about being taken seriously. It worked but kids are different from adults I guess. At least my voice ain't high therefore it's pretty low in volume because I'm shy and an introvert and that doesn't help with talking to others and I have to prepare myself before to talk loud enough. It worked better with the kids back then and after them getting to me and the other way around things settled pretty fine (I can talk pretty loud when I feel comfortable). But talking in low volume doesn't help with people taking me as serious as they should now, too. And I guess being that short always just made people even think more I'm quite younger than I am.

Kuro reacted to Traxan in Aldious make it official, R!n is the new vocalist
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Aldious has chosen R!n as their new vocalist. R!n had been sharing vocal duties on the band's 3 month Japan tour with Saki, formerly of Cyntia, where they alternated nights singing. But all the emphasis seemed to be on R!n despite the fact she had never been in a band before (she won some singing contest) and Saki was a veteran singer.

No one knows when this picture was taken, since Toki is pregnant but it could be she is hiding her bump with the guitar.

R!n certainly could do the old material justice. Below is a clip of them doing "Spirit Black" and she came very close to Rami. Now let's see what the next album sounds like.

It's been a little while since I've been online, fellas.

Unpopular opinion threads or tweets are an open gate for people to start showing their asses in the name of racism, transphobia, etc, but here's my unwanted and unneeded contribution. Feel free to quote, but I may or may not respond. If it's anything contentious in nature I won't respond, given MH is never the place to argue. I'm here just to express my opinions, not to enforce them on anyone.

    - As conspiratorial as it sounds, music can influence someone's behavior. All of the people that suffered from addiction at the ward I was signed into had an addiction to things like lean, codeine, "xannies", and when we got the chance to play music of our choice, it was very apparent to me why. When you keep listening to music about nonstop popping 'xannies', sipping on lean, smoking weed, etc, etc, it's bound to have an effect on you. Media is a very influential thing.

    - It takes the same amount of time not to be a dick and to respect someone's pronouns than to be a dick and purposefully call them the wrong thing to prove your point and state of mind. Just be nice, y'all.

    - In a similar vein to the above, xir/xim or whatever is weird, but I won't necessarily refuse out of sheer decency. Things like they/them and not conforming to an expected binary, however, is understandable. Take my case, born as one sex and expected to be another, raised like the other, blah, blah, blah. It causes confusion, and a constant dissociation between reality and "what should/could have been". Don't trigger someone's dysphoria for fuck all else. You don't know their story.

Always remember: what you know about people is mostly what they allow to be known. You seldom ever fully know someone, their past, all of their traits, etc.

    - Expecting Generation Z to conform to the ideologies and morals of former generations is ridiculous. Every generation is different from the last.

    - Cringe culture is unnecessary and prevents a child from indulging into what they love, ultimately causing a fear of ridicule or disappointment for expressing themselves.

    - Pistachio flavored anything is fucking disgusting.

    - Black licorice is like eating a rubber band dipped in gasoline.

I'm gonna get lambasted for this, but unsolicited advice is not necessarily a bad thing and I wish people would stop acting so defensive/hostile towards people who give it. Also, I don't like the argument that it's always self-serving because it's no more self-serving than anything else. If you're gonna tell them they're only out for themselves, you may as well say the same thing to your doctor. You're trying to help someone and in the end, they're the ones who will really benefit from it if they take the advice. I get it if it's something really petty that you could just as easily ignore (e.g. "that outfit looks terrible on you, you shouldn't wear it anymore") but if it's something more serious and you're respectful enough with your wording (e.g. "I found this tip that can ease the symptoms of that condition you have"), I don't see a problem with it. Another one of the main criticisms I've read for it is that it comes off as "judgemental". If you seriously think someone is being judgemental just because they dared to challenge your mighty opinion/method, then you have more of a problem than the person trying to correct it, not to mention a much more fragile ego. Personally, I'd consider it more emotionally controlling to go on about your problems all the time and expect the other party to say nothing than to give unsolicited advice. Not saying everyone who receives unsolicited advice is just venting all their issues and expecting everyone else to stay silent and just listen, but if we're going to compare two opposite extremes, then I know which one I think is worse.

Welcome to MH!! I'm also 24 and have been in it for 10+ years so maybe we'll have something in common. :')
I'm also a really big fan of GazettE! Were you able to see them during the world tour this year? I saw them in Dallas in May and they were amazing.
I'm a huge fan of lynch. as well, as you might be able to tell from my username haha. Glad to see another fan here!
If you're looking for newer bands to try, and you haven't heard them yet, check out DIMLIM's album CHEDOARA. They were one of the first newer bands I checked out upon coming back into vk and they absolutely blew me away with this album. Maybe you'll like them too!

My favorite would be Disgaea series - japanese turn based rpg with great amount of content and crazy storylines. Definitely the most fun games i ever played. Other than that my top would be The Witcher series, Labirynth of Refrain, Nier Automata, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I used to love dnd games like neverwinter nights or baldurs gate but that was a long time ago and i haven’t played them for so long so maybe they just got old and overshadowed by new games, not sure
I bought Nintendo switch last year so most new games i play are the ones released on that console.

It is hard to choose my favorite as to be honest, it changes, one week i may say that nothing will top Stacked Rubbish just to claim next week that i love the direction they went with Dogma and that is their best album.

So instead of deciding of favorite album here are some of my all time best songs i would recommend to other people: Filth in the beauty, Zetsu, Namaatatakai Kaze no Zaratsuita Jonetsu, Dogma, Lucy, Fadeless, Uncertain Sense, Wakaremichi, Juunanasai, Miseinen, Reila, Ganges ni akai bara, Chizuru, Invisible wall, In the middle of chaos, Falling, Cassis, Gabriel on the Gallows, Babylon’s Taboo, Silly god disco, Inside Beast.
Those were the ones that came to my mind, probably forgot about some anyway. I think that  gazette is in a pretty good spot considering their music quality as even the weaker songs i can’t dislike and i just like them a little less. Or maybe i just became a die hard fan and i will accept whatever they release, haha

One last mention to my favorite release(physical) - Beautiful Deformity, i believe it is their best looking limited edition, just love to see it on my shelf, so much better looking than those big books, division and dogma or pretty bland Dim and Stacked Rubbish.(can’t really complain about NIL, that fur is pretty cool). The only thing that would make this release even better is if they added a concert like in Ninth. I guess cool box>photo albums(or whatever that was in division xd)

Hello, have been lurking for a few days and decided to introduce myself
I am 24, from Poland and have been listening to japanese music for about 10 years. Mostly sticking with my favorites so i don’t know that many bands but i believe i will discover some new stuff here.
One of the first bands i got to know and my absolute #1 for years already is The Gazette, discovered them around the time they released DIM and fell in love ever since. Currently i am on a quest to collect all of their singles, EPs and albums. It is a slow process but i am getting there

Other bands i love are exist trace, girugamesh, undead corporation, sadie, nightmare, mary’s blood, dir en grey, lynch, d’espairsray, aldious, yousei teikoku, wagakki band, babymetal and versailles( Hizaki being my favorite - i usually don’t listen to instrumental only stuff but curse of virgo is a work of art). I guess some of them are not visual kei but visual part of vkei was never my main focus.

As for other hobbies i enjoy fantasy books/movies and rpg games. I read some manga from time to time but not as often as i used to.

    Cheers 😎

I never had a Spotify account or something the like. I dislike streaming. I'm still going by digital files from ripped CD's or sometimes digitally bought releases. I barely listen to any western music and when I do it's more for nostalgic reasons and there I'm back with ripped CD files.
