One of the best Japanese covers of a non-Japanese song that I've ever heard:

    ORIGINAL: SADE - SMOOTH OPERATOR

    COVER: OCEANLANE - SMOOTH OPERATOR

I haven't heard a lot of non-Japanese songs covered by Japanese artists so I thought it would be an interesting topic.
Personally I've only heard a few.
    Acid Black Cherry: – ラストダンスは私に
I don't have a link for Yasu's version but you might've heard it. The original is "Save the last dance for me" by the Drifters.

Atsushi's version - Ameon wa Chopin no shirabe ~I Like Chopin~

That's all what I can think of off the top of my head. I'd love to hear if there's anything else that you know of.

I did this in one take, and didn't layer or edit anything so sorry if the quality sucks, but it doesn't matter that's not going to excuse how terrible it is. BUT I DO LIKE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. thank you. here it is.

I think this is good for the band, they latest released aren't really inspirated, just classical DEATHGAZE since Ai take the vocal position...
hope they start to tink about the band, their music and their impact because, because they have no idea about what they represent for fan, for the VK scene and for their music (cf : interview realized on VisualVice)

Maybe for taking time for them to relax, take time with family, take a step back and come back with new fresh idea for composition ^^

Well ive pointed this out on the chat and some said its an interesting idea , so i thought before i forget this ill post this here and maybe other ppl will also jump on this idea . I know there is a topic about a radio , but radios need a lot legal issues to be taken care , especially cause a radio is easier to track by the anti piracy organizations , and making a radio server is like calling out to them "come and get me" , closed community podcats on the other hands dont differ from uploading albums .
So yeah here is the idea , altough my spoken english is bad and sounds more like engrish i will go around trying to record something this week just for fun and post it here , mayhaps (is there even a world like this) others will catch on to this idea as well .
So yeah heres the topic guys lets discuss this out and see where we can get with this .

PsychoΔelica reacted to Pretsy in Your favorite "far-out" songs
I am quite sure all music-loving people here and there admire such moments of artists they adore/respect, which are quite "unusual" or perhaps even quite "rare" for their usual genre or repertoire. What kind of name could we give to such occasions? Perhaps..."far-out"?

Back to the main point - if you remember my previous topics regarding "best album openers/closers" (2lazy2link), you know the drill already. No? Let's get some things straight again:

    -  Pick max. 4 unusual* songs (repertoire-wise + links are preferred!) of artists that you either "adore" (or admire, w/e) or just respect.
    -  Explain your fav choices (e.g. "What does make this song "far-out" in their repertoire?").
    -  Anything goes at this point, so demolish all the language/nationality barriers and feel free to post your favs outside "our usual J-music territory" as well!

edit: *you don't have to be necessarily familiar with artists' WHOLE production - just as long as you have at least one example of "unusual factor" off e.g. certain album or w/e.

    OP's example/starter post:

    1. Doremidan - Akai Kutsu (from s/t single)

I admired Doremidan for being able to be up for so long despite having less and less attention from vk fandom by time - and having some "unique" tendencies in normally "familiar" vk music ideology. "Akai Kutsu" is interestingly enough of their first, and yet still most unusual track to date imho. Why? I am not that familiar with Doremidan's whole repertoire, but trust me - I haven't found any other song of theirs that conveyed same-ish "eastern campfire"-ish vibes. The fact ,that this is pretty "stripped down" compared to what we usually hear from Doremidan's colleagues and perhaps from Doremidan itself, should be noted too. Lovely and sincere ballad-ish tune, 'nuff said.

    2. LUNA SEA - 4:00AM (from "LUNACY")
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSQKz-iJ548
Luna Sea's "characteristics" are quite easy to define, when it comes to music - be it their "raw" self-titled era or  the "safe" SHINE-era. But as with most respected acts, moments of "carefree experimentation" are always expected. "4:00AM" might sound like typical  late-90s pop for negligent ears - but mind you, the idea of having r'n'b-y vibes (e.g. female chorus) and dream poppy instrumentation/performance was a total "out of nowhere"-experience for LS fanbase back then. Sure, such formula has already cultivated to the point where many might find it tiring *cough*Gazette*cough*, but "4:00AM", or the whole "LUNACY"-album is not worth missing out!

    3. Uverworld - Born Slippy (Underworld cover) (from "Ø CHOIR")

Uverworld might not be the one I adore, but I have a certain level of respect towards their audible desires to try out various elements, and even genres. Sure - usually covers tend to be quite different from artists' respective repertoire, but "Born Slippy"-cover imho stands somewhere in between of something "familiar" (e.g. elements from the original song) and "far-out" (e.g. Uverworld's stylistic tendencies and interesting twists). Inclusion of almost all-band tribal drumming, ambient-ish guitars, original-respecting vocals and bass has my warm welcomes, just like any other fitting method of experimentation

And that's it from me! Feel free to post - but make sure that you follow my "4 picks"-rule. Let's play it fair and square as always

PsychoΔelica reacted to Keiyuu in KISAKI conspiracy? Strange things I noticed related to Kisaki's old bands Levia and LAYBIAL
I noticed some very strange things about Kisaki's bands Levia and LAYBIAL, which were around in 1993 and 1994. For example, this is the tracklisting of the MISS tape by LAYBIAL.

    01. Dejavu
    02. MISS
    03. virginig Plesures
    04. Refuse
    05. MOTHER
    06. One More Love

    Official source: http://under-ground-music.com/kisakihppart/english/DiscShosai.php?shohinNo=000009

Also in the mid-90s there was a band called VICE∞RISK. They released the tape Mother and this is the tracklist:

    01. Virgining Plesures
    02. Refuse
    03. Mother
    04. One More Love

I saw the lyrics sheet with my own eyes, so I can confirm that it's real.

Now let's look at Levia's KELOID tape:

    01. KELOID
    02. PRAY

    Official source: http://under-ground-music.com/kisakihppart/english/DiscShosai.php?shohinNo=000007

Around the same time there was a band called Nude of J. Their 傷痕 demo looks like this:

    01. KELOID
    02. 恋に焦がれ愛に埋もれ
    03. PRAY

I also saw a sheet of this tape, the tracklist is legit.
I can upload pics of the VICE∞RISK and Nude of J tracklists, if you guys want to see a proof.

So.. Can anyone explain this? For me, it doesn't make sense at all.
VICE∞RISK and Nude of J seem to be COMPLETELY unrelated to Kisaki or his bands. I even compared the member names, because sometimes members went into different bands and rerecorded songs they've written for another band, but there's not a single similar name anywhere.
Was Kisaki making things up when he decided to release information about this old bands and just took random songtitles of obscure bands from that time? O:
Or did the bands just covered each other, which is highly unlikely...

I know there's a KISAKI history book out there. Maybe someone here owns it, so we could compare the titles? But I'm 99% sure that it will contain the same information as on that UCP site.

I started with cdjapan as well, later moved to hmv also because they're better for huge orders... however I don't make that kind of money anymore so I either buy it on itunes if it's available or go through shopping services to get things from various auctions sites or japan only shops. So I can't say that i stick to just one place... I just use whatever is convenient at the time I need it.

started playing saxophone when i was nine (nineteen year ago, damn...) piano two or three years later. started studying classical saxophone at university after high school, so i am a certified professional saxophonist now (well, now that is some useless diploma right there if i've ever seen one)
simultaneously in university started playing guitar and bass, because sax sucks *baduntz* (for real tho)
right after univerity four years ago i pretty much gave up on the sax tho, so i'm not really on my hight anymore, i do play in a funk-band sometimes tho
also i do have my experience on flute, ukulele and clarinet, and i can somehow hold a steady rock-groove on drums, but that's about it

    that makes pretty okayish:
    saxo
    guitar
    piano
    bass

    somewhat:
    ukulele
    flute
    drums

with a more soundproof room anywhere near me i'd love to be able to drum a bit more/better. i'm always fascinated by drummers

Since I took some photos today to show a friend a couple of dresses I purchased, I thought I could put up those since my hair is done in them unlike my original picture. Took forever positioning the mirror (had to be on bed hah) even though I couldn't get a full body image! >.< And the 'selfie' looks a bit weird, I think I was in the middle of blinking. xD A bit too much lipstick too lol, doing your own makeup is difficult.. I hope the dress design/details shows, sorry if it doesn't! Being someone who does a photography course, I am SHOCKING with the lighting and camera use. Apologies.
