I think you misspelled "disband DEATHGAZE". Ai IS DEATHGAZE. No Ai, no DEATHGAZE.

As much as I like DEATHGAZE, I've just grown bored of them. I don't think they're as same as everyone says, but at the same time they rarely do anything to make me really want to listen to them over other heavy bands.

I don't know how to feel about this. DEATHGAZE deserves a vacation because they've been going strong for ten years despite all the changes in member lineup. On the other hand, Ai is the reason why this band is still around. Even when things looked hopeless he never gave up faith in the band. Now that they're indefinitely going on hiatus, I don't know what this means for him. I hope his head is in a good place - last time I thought this was going to happen he seemed really depressed.

I hope that the hiatus will be the start of new and better projects for each member, because their latest releases were pretty boring and uninspired IMO.

It all categorizes as metal at the end of the day. Honestly, tryna put bands into a specific category within metal is one of the most repetitive and annoying aspects within the community. At the end of the day, it all follows and classifies as things that anyone listening the first time will say its metal. No one ever wins with these conversations and threads/the main points of conversations are lost.
We all have differing opinions. Lets agree to disagree and drop it.

Does it really matter into what genre it fits best? Will it change your opinion if you can categorize it? It comes down to your taste, if you like it good, if you don't then move on. These arguments are pointless, modern music can't really be put into well-defined genres like before anymore, especially when it comes to rock/metal and all the endless sub-genres, obviouslly there are clear boundries between major genres and exceptions, but almost all music tends to borrow elements that are considered to be distinctive of a particular genre. Not to mention music evolves over time so the sound of what was once called metalcore can't be the same today, music isn't that stagnant, otherwise we wouldn't have so much diversity in music. Everything is IMO.

"Genre"'s in popular music are flimsy. Today, there is hardly a basis for taking Metal and breaking it into nearly 100 subgenres where as something so small as tempo or the level of distortion on a guitar can determine what "Genre" or "subgenre" a group falls into. If Djent is categorized by a sound modeled after Meshuggah, then it can be considered at the very least, a subgenre. Not considering it a genre, or a subgenre, is generally negative reaction at the recent influence Meshuggah has had on up-and-coming bands.

The irony for me is that I really don't like older Jrock aside from the occaisional Luna Sea, Dir en grey, and Malice Mizer. I'm more into Instant Classics. (Which is why I would say Sink by Kaya, but I know that would be shunned upon.)
    SO, INSTEAD:
    REDDISH -DIVA version- D'espairsRay
    Tsuki no Kioku -fallen- D'espairsRay
    Tainted World D'espairsRay
Rosier, Shine, In My Dream, I for you - Luna Sea
The entire album of Merveilles by Malice Mizer
Obscure by Dir en grey (also Shokubeni)

I definitely think this is gonna be a good collection of rerecordings. Especially since I lost my mp3 of Rin a while ago and now I can't find it to redownload... But I am looking forward to hearing Sui sing these, especially The Psalms and Lamentations.

To put this in short: This album should have been shortened to an EP containing the following songs:

    1. ENIGMA
    2. DEAD BLAZE
    3. THE UNDERWORLD
    4. BREATH
    5. SADISTIC SMILE
    6. FEAR

If it'd have looked like this, I would have given it a generous 6/10. It's not bad, but it's far from outstanding. It all sounds badly recycled, and the only revolutionary thing about it really is the synth part in THE UNDERWORLD and the continuous tapping in FEAR. Both sounds good and fun to listen to, even if THE UNDERWORLD falls back into 0815 jrock metalcore formula once the chorus starts. The other 4 songs also sound good, they're energetic and supported by acceptale chorus sections. But it simply lacks tracks like "THE END" who highlighted the previous album with their outstanding quality.

I'm not even going to mention the remaining songs, since they are literally nothing. While listening to the album I really asked myself "Wait a moment... did I just listen to a song? Because I don't remember".

Compared to this, lynch's GALLOWS is a masterpiece.

For me, I think having watched Dir en grey grow as a band and progress musically the way they have is just...I don't know, it gives me a sense of pride?  Perhaps because I've been with them for a while.  I'm talking, specifically, instrumentation.  Even with their genre-slips they often pull, you can hear progress in their playing ability.  Though I'm not as into them as I was when I was 16, I still look forward to their releases and lives.

How does someone seriously, seriously wonder why Dir en grey is hyped to high heaven and back without being "hurr i dun liek dem so why others do"? Essential visual kei albums from Gauze to Kisou, more or less pioneered the assimilation of contemporary western trends to vk in the 2000's, broke through in foreign markets and one of the most influential bands in vk today. They stay relevant and topical because they haven't stopped tinkering with their sound thus far, and there's always an aura of mystery on what comes next to keep even the non-fans excited. It's pretty rare for a popular music™ band over 15 years old to not become a complete parody of themselves, not to mention stay relevant. It would also require some incredible mental gymnastics to deny the quality of their first two albums if you're a vk fan and the type of metal they play at the moment is very in vogue, ergo hype and relevance.

First come in my mind: BABYMETAL. OK I tried listen to them and nothing make me impressed. But why metal fans like them, and many metal musician promote them? I think they are just an Idol, with standard idol-type vocal and mixed with metal music. I didn't see the two different thing (metal and idol) fit.
