02/03 Kagerou was legendary. I discovered them around that time and I remember being completely enthralled by the Yubikiri and Yuugure no Shazai PVs (both downloaded from Kazaa/Soulseek with dial up internet) for ages, especially with Daisuke's vocals and looks. Yubikiri in particular I recall being pretty ''important'' to me as a baby VK fan.
 
Their first album was great (Meisou Honnou goes the fuck offfff), but I'm more of a Rakushu guy probably because it was the first album of theirs I actually sit down to listen in full. Some of my other favorites songs from this year are Soushitsu, Sekkyou 38.5℃, Hieshou no onna, Nekura housoku komoriuta and most importantly, Kakokei Shinjitsu, which is to this day one of their very best and most underrated songs.

While talent / skill is imperative to at least some degree for a band to be objectively good, overall I find that passion is still more important.  In other words if a band's members have very little technical skill, they can more than make up for that by pouring their heart out and releasing otherwise sick tunes.  I feel this way as someone who listens to a lot of very indie visual kei. I can totally dig horrendous vocalists if the music resonates with me. I'm probably explaining this poorly.

D'espairsray is the most unjustly lauded band in the scene curiously with next to no detractors.
 
Started out as a fairly generic band of the times that made one decent EP before essentially making it a career playing vk's brand of linkin park for about four albums. They always looked terrible too, either ruining theoretically fine vk looks by mallgothing it too much or just giving up entirely and looking like l'arc en ciel jr later on. Their last album is the fucking pits.
 
and as a personal note, I've started to dislike hizumi's voice despite really being into it when I got into vk. 
 
edit: I decided to listen to in vain a little bit and it's... it's fine I think. For what it is. So it's not that they were obnoxiously horrible, but that they're regarded as potentially a top 10 vk band and coll:set a classic is absolutely ridiculous to me.
 
I refuse to take anyone seriously who thinks this is even passable

Tracks are sounding good, I was actually hoping for a track or two to sound stylistically similar to CRAZY TRIBE cause that song was banging.
Also BAD BOY reminds me a lot of ZORO, which is a good thing since I f××king love ZORO ;D

That blind worship is exactly why I haven't bothered listening to them. Stupid, yeah, but maybe someday I'll ignore the fanbase and give them a try. Even if I do prefer Luna Sea.

I like gossip's aesthetic but the music isn't my style. Also Canival--Kosuke and Luvia are always on point visually but their music is pretty forgettable.
 
EDIT: Aliene Ma'riage, too. I'm not a fan of the noisy loud chaotic sound that usually comes with Kyouka's work. Insanity Injection is slightly tolerable. Love their looks though.

I don't see how Kazuki ex-Due le quartz was a bad drummer.
 
And as for Sakito, I remember a friend of mine once suggested some singers like him possibly sing like that due to their hearing. It is not that their voices are unable to hit certain notes; it is the way they hear that conditions their singing...
I never had problems with Sakito's singing style and, even though it would have been nice if he could have always hit the right key still I like his voice.

Just seeing a few comments makes me rethink the title...
 
"Bad vocalists" implies vocalists that lack skill and threfore can measureably be considered bad vocalists. Yet I see people posting quite good ones and saying "I personally hate this guy even if he is good".
Is it an opinion post to share vocalists we deslike or a post more on the factual side to discuss vocal skills?
I may dislike Hiro's singing on NCBL and he may make my ears bleed, but that doesn't keep me from admitting the guy has some serious skill.
 
By the way, vocalists I think are unskilled, don't handle their voices well and can't hit the right notes live (or sometimes even in the studio) would be Mashiro from Paradeis, Miku from An Cafe, Aryu from Morrigan, Tsuzuku from Mejibray, Yuuki from Lycaon, the dude from Mediena/Virge and a few other vocalists who sound like they have to force their voice way too much to sound ok, and whose names I can't remember as of now.
Zin. Shou (A9) and Naoki (Fantasista) should take lessons ASAP.

- Yukari (Baiser)
- Daisuke (Kagerou, the studs) Him and Aie worked so well together. I can't help but feel the god and death stars would sound better with him on vocals.
- Jin (Nega, The Black Swan) He's an acquired taste but he's gotten so much better. Though I still liked him with Nega.
- Shin (ViViD) This band weren't very good but Shin's vocals while really generic were really great. With a better band he would be amazing.
- Nigu (cocklobin)
- yo-ka (DIAURA)
- Kurosaki Mahiro (Kiryuu)
- Aki (Laputa) Underrated band in general.
- Jui (Vidoll)
- Izumi (Wail)
- Teru (Glay) Though most likely he's not underrated in Japan.

Lycaon should have disbanded when Mío and Eve left.
