Vo.カルト (Cult) tweeted on May 29 that his parents were attacked while traveling abroad to Hawaii, according to the translation by JpopAsia (who refers to him as Cult AND Karuto in the same article, gj). He initially stated that he didn't know whether to participate in Tensai's upcoming events to care for his parents.

This week wasn't a good one for Tensai.'s vocalist Cult and his family: his parents were attacked while travelling abroad.

Karuto tweeted this week that while his parents were travelling abroad they were attacked and hurt with a knife. Especially his father's face was cut various times and he hopes no big scars will remain. Also his mother's face required stitches.

Due to this incident they returned to Japan later than expected. Karuto expressed his wish to be with his parents after their return to Japan.
It was unsure if he will skip two concerts due to it which will be held on June 1st and 2nd but it has been decided now that he will perform and also take part in the instore events.

That is very unfortunate  it would have been understandable if he decided not to perform and reschedule. Hoping his parents recover well and quickly.

I guess my old history teacher wasn't exaggerating about the crime problem in Hawaii outside of touristy areas...that's scary.

A fellow tourist who claims to have found the couple has set up a GoFundMe for the parents to help raise $100,000 for their medical bills. The whole story is posted on the site; basically, the dad walked in on some drug dealers when he went to the bathroom, then he was assaulted, and the mom heard him, and suffered the same fate. They had two other children with them (19 & 21 yrs old), but they were nowhere near them when the attack happened. 

 

Cult has also added that his father's surgery succeeded today.

The trial of the attacker has ended and he was given 18 months in prison plus a 4 yr suspended sentence - basically 4 years of probation and he can walk free due to good behavior. Outrageous.

Thanks for the follow up. How does the attacker get away with such a light sentence? That's BS.
