I agree with you there.

I own the original. It's even my first ever FF and I probably wasn't even 11 when I played it for the first time. I love it and I always have, but apparently I'm wrong for even slightly anticipating this remake. Do I want this remake or do I find it necessary? Nah, not really, but now they're doing it anyway I don't see why I can't be a little hyped. Having that full game in great graphics and characters with actual voices AND getting it with an updated current gen touch? Why the hell not?

What I don't understand though, is that I've seen so many people say they want the exact same game and just want Square to "update the graphics and have the characters talk" but aren't they realizing the gameplay as it was in '97 on PSone won't do for PS4 and our current gaming generation? They're not solely remaking the full game for everyone's childhood sentiments. Nomura even said something about that, telling people who just want the game as it was to download the port when it's coming to PS4. They're not putting in this much money only to please people who grew up with the original. No, they're bringing that original which so many people loved back then to the current times, so that they can have a whole new generation of gamers experience it in current standards.

That's one of the few things I actually am excited for when it comes to the FFVII remake, seeing what they change from the original and what improvements they make to the game, but I know a lot of people who doesn't want the game to change whatsoever other than the graphics and I'm just like why? Those are the kind of people I'm mainly fed up with at the moment. Personally I hope they change a lot of different things about the game and improve on it as a whole, while still keeping the nostalgia aspects as well... if that's even possible.

I'm sure they're going to use Crisis Core and Advent Children (maybe even Dirge of Cerberus) in one way or another. I'm all for that too. If you want exactly the same just play the port.

Whether it'll be turn-based or more like XIII or XV doesn't really matter to me either. I'm sure they'll make it fit and keep the flow of the game right for the remake.

The new FFVII will be a remake and not a remaster. As a result it looks like a shit ton of things will be changed including the turn-based combat. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/19/e3-2015-final-fantasy-7-is-a-remake-not-a-remaster?%20hub%20page%20(front%20page)&utm_content=15

Mass debate in 3...2...1...

Please cite your sources XD

There will be changes but I have read nothing about changing it from turned based.

I'm fine with them making changes as long as it optimizes the game play and isn't some stupid gimmick like the "turn based combat" of FFXIII. My hope is that may be similar to what we will get in XV if they're really going to reuse resources between the two games (which they most definitely should).

As far as I know they haven't confirmed anything specific pertaining to how the game is going to play, so I'm gonna say that is merely a rumor or just plain old speculation. Personally I hope they find a way to keep it turn based but make it interesting and improve on the materia system and hell maybe even add a whole new system to the game... maybe something similar to the grid system from past games. Right now it's just all up in the air and I have feeling it's gonna be some years until we find out any of the specifics. My estimate is we probably won't seeing anything substantial about the game until 2017 and  even then I doubt it won't come out till 2018 at the earliest.

As far as my thoughts on the FF7 remake goes, I have passive interest for it. Honestly, it's one of those games that I'll probably buy when it's in the bargain bin. What I'm really curious about is the fact that they're going to remake the story as well. If that's the case, then I wonder if Advent Children & Dirge of Cerberus will be still canon to the franchise.

There are also quite a few games I've got my eye on that weren't mentioned at the conference:

The only 2 reasons I'm getting a next gen console

Also hoping this comes out on next gen consoles too. It's PC only right now and it will be a while before I can upgrade my desktop cpu to a proper high end one.

I am sad that Persona 5 got pushed all the way back to summer 2016. : (

The new trailer shows a lot of cool snippets of the gameplay though!  And I'm loving that melancholic piano at the end.  Reminds me a bit of one of the floors at Tartarus.

I was pretty disappointed that Capcom announced Umbrella Corps. I was hoping for Resident Evil 7. It seems pretty counterintuitive for them to go towards more action-oriented games when the majority of fans seem to be wanting more horror elements. I mean, I didn't mind the action in Resident Evil 6 but I am not a fan of shooters so I will not be getting the game.

They were so mysterious about releasing news about P5, this trailer was great and seems to have a more catch atmosphere than P4.

Whatever you do, please do NOT pre-order Deus Ex Mankind Divided. This kind of disgusting pre-order culture needs to fade away.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC will launch for PSP via the PlayStation Store in North America and PC worldwide via Steam and GOG.com on October 29 for $29.99, XSEED Games announced. A European PSP release will follow closely behind the North American release.

Here’s the outline, via XSEED:

Developed by legendary RPG specialists Nihon Falcom, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky SC picks up mere hours after the conclusion to The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, with Estelle traveling across Liberl in search of Joshua. Her journey involves more than seeking loved ones, however, as the Bracer Guild also tasks her with unraveling the mysteries behind the newly unveiled Society of Ouroboros.

In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky SC, Falcom’s celebrated Sound Team jdk returns with a massive and highly lauded score that perfectly complements the tumultuous resolution to one of the most moving and expansive JRPGs ever created. The series’ staple strategic turn-based system with unmatchable customization has been taken even further with all new arts, crafts, upgraded orbments, and combo attacks. The meticulously detailed land of Liberl awaits the player’s return with new quests, mini-games and collectibles to offer, along with a host of both new and familiar locations that are populated with hundreds of unique NPCs, each featuring his or her own story to tell.

I'm pretty excited about the new Star Ocean.  FF7 remake has my attention too, I just hope they do it well and don't throw in some BS new fighting system.  I wasn't a fan of FF12 or FF13's fighting systems.  But you know what?  Whatever, it's gonna be cool because I liked FF7 a lot :D

The next Valkyria Chronicles title, Valkyria: Azure Revolution, is heading to PlayStation 4. Sega has provided a quick first look at the game, which you can check out above.

An official website for the game is now live as well, featuring screens from the 2016 role-playing title, along with new information about its world, story and characters.

The company first filed trademarks in both English and Japanese for the next Valkyria RPG last month. Famitsu revealed that the game would be heading to PS4 sometime next year. It will be joined by an HD remaster of the first game in the series, Valkyria Chronicles.

Neither a launch date nor an American release have been confirmed yet.

new "Valkyria Chronicles" game announced and it's gonna be a prequel! pretty hyped for that as sega seriously needs to get off their ass and use some of these great IP's the have like this one. Also a HD remaster of the 1st game is pretty cool too... personally I wish the would release the 3rd game over here finally :/

Valkyria: Azure Revolution director Takeshi Ozawa and the game’s chief producer Yoichi Shimosato spoke of the latest on the upcoming title in this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation. [Thanks, Hachima.]

On the subject of losing a character:

Ozawa: “This is something that we’ve discussed a lot, but since death is a theme this time around, if we don’t have such deaths then the feeling of fear that comes with it won’t reach the player, so we’ve decided to go with it.”

Shimosato: “We’ve readied events and other story elements for sub-characters in order to further motivate players to not get people killed.”

Are there events that don’t occur if you lose a character?

Ozawa: “The main story will carry on, but the said character’s events will be cut out. However, like other Valkyria Chronicles titles, you’ll be able to redo things, and we’re planning on having players get to experience everything just by doing so.”

About how difficult is the game?

Ozawa: “I believe that there are definitely some obstacles there, and with that said, [the difficulty] is not that low. We plan on adding an easy mode and such for the matter.”

On the demo:

Shimosato: “Up until now we’ve released demos just before the release, and all the feedback we got from them ended up being of no use due to the schedule. For this reason, we aim to show off the system as soon as possible, and keep having it evolve. It’s a title that we’d like to make together with the players.”

Ozawa: “However, one thing we don’t want to you to misunderstand is that it won’t be a beta, as we plan on confidently getting your assent right off the bat.”

What about the volume of the demo?

Ozawa: “Since you’ll get a taste of the LeGION [battle system] we’re calling it the ‘Batt;e Demo.’ It’ll also have leveling elements in it, so you get to experience something like a game cycle for it.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will release in Japan in Winter 2016 for PlayStation 4.

^ So excited for that. It's funny that it's taking me years to complete Valkyria Chronicles like Fire Emblem Awakening, but I'm still super hyped for both upcoming additions to the franchises because they're such perfection.

oh crap, a new SaGa game?

Too bad it's for Vita, considering how Sony pretty much dropped it from the west. I'm guessing this game won't get an English localization.

guess I need to get cookin' on learning more Japanese :D
