Heh, thanks. I'd tread carefully when it comes to taking these posts all too serious though, because when it comes to certan genres during certain time periods I will have no such thing as critical sense, and this is probably something you've noticed if you've read my thoughts on films or some period of time. Films are for me what candy are to kids. It doesn't have to be good to please the shit out of me and make me jump in my sofa or dance out on the lawn.

Hooray for me? Why exactly is that?

Armour of God II - Operation Condor - The first one is great, but this is better in every single way. The plot is way more Indiana Jones-esque and way better, and it is one huge adventure film in the vein of Indiana Jones, the fight coreography is a shitload better (the windtunnel climax is MASSIVE!), the stunts are better, the comedic elements are way better, and, well, everything is better in this sequel. If there is one thing that I'll put my finger on as being a bit negative, it is the fact that everyonee speaks chinese. So yeah, they've dubbed the fuck out of everyone, but it's not something I mind for some reason.

This scene is amazing. The whole thing is both exciting and funny as fuck, but the last third of it is the best. So much fun in one scene.

Shaolin Temple 2: Kids from Shaolin - This "sequel" to the fantastic Shaolin Temple features some of the same actors, such as Jet Li, Yu Chenghui and Yu Hai, but this is a sequel only in name, because the film got nothing to do with Shaolin Temple. I was very disappointed by this myself. Running at 1 hour and 45 minutes, it was 20-25 minutes too long and the build up was way to slow for a lackluster plot such as this. And it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes before the film gets proper exciting, but that last, long fight was amazing and saves the shit out of this film. Decent, but not a film I'll watch again anytime soon.

Shaolin Temple 3: Martial Arts of Shaolin - Again, some of the same actors, such as Jet Li, Yu Chenghui and Yu Hai, but only a sequel in name. But it's a massive improvement on Shaolin Temple 2. The plot is fairly usual, but it's a good and exciting plot from early on and till the end and it gets things going, it's got great fights and it's all very good. Yu Chenghui is great, and he's such a good villain once again. His laugh is evil as fuck, and he's got so much charisma. Great film!

A few days ago I saw the last two remaining Best Picture nominees for the Oscars (Selma, American Sniper) and, if anyone gives a damn, this is my order of preference:

    Birdman
    (great, but silly ending)
    The Grand Budapest Hotel
    (visually stunning, funny, bit gimmicky)
    Boyhood
(good, but bit shallow with little imagination)

    Selma
(nice, good decision to focus on one important event rather than King's whole life, but too sentimental and "middle of the road")
    The Theory of Everything
(has certain charm but rather empty and takes many shortcuts)
    The Imitation Game
(meh, plays on safe, 50/50 on drama/history, never dives deeper into the material)

    American Sniper
    (one-dimensional, patriotic, aimless)
    Whiplash
(hated the whiny message it holds and the nonsensical characters and dramatic events)

I'll predict Birdman as winner because it involves modern world stuff like the influence of social media and hype and has a key scene concerning critics and their reviews which I think will win the votes of many Academy members. The Grand Budapest Hotel doesn't stand a chance because it has no substance, it's good fun, but the Academy wants some substance. Boyhood has a fair chance, partly because its running time allows for some sort of connection to develop between the viewer and the boy, has a good chance of winning the viewer's heart towards the ending.

The others are basically "fillers", because it's clearly Boy vs. Bird.

Anyone else care to share their two cents?

    Plot summary:
Two seemingly unconnected souls from different corners of the United States make a telepathic bond that allows them to see, hear and feel the others experiences, creating a bond that apparently can't be broken.

    Other Info:
Released in 2014, Bellwether Pictures, indie paranormal drama and romantic comedy.

    Thoughts:
Romantic, funny and sweet, 'In Your Eyes' is the recent random movie I decicided to try on Netflix and I was surprised to have enjoyed it as much as I did. I don't usually rewatch movies, but I had to watch the film again after viewing it in one sitting late at night. The acting seems natural and effortless. You really feel for the characters and connect with that which only emphasises the heightened emotions you'll feel at the climax of the film. Movie stars Zoe Kazan and Michael Stahl-David are just meant to be shipped in this, and it's sometimes an aggravating watch during moments in which they try to break apart to get back to their lives when they're meant to be. Apart from one intimate scene which I skipped just because I feel these scenes are a bit too much, it didn't seem awkward at all. It's an honest and loving film which deserves more attention. My newest addition to my favourite movies.

Surprisingly awesome, I wonder why did I never heard about 'em. It's sad how the most amazing bands are always the most overlooked ones... Although Dødheimsgard seem to be quite well known. But whatever. They remind me Solefald for their avant-garde/experimental-ish side, and Aphelion Void is a 15:14 minutes track of pure enjoyment, I could say the same concerning the tracks you posted (Traces of Reality is tremendous). It looks like a great night to get into their entire discography and get lost into there, enjoying their amazing talent.

What the fuck, guys? Am I the only one who enjoy Dødheimsgard here? No way, that's can't be. Such an unique and great band, and when they seem to return to form after a decent, though very disappointing album, no-one even comments of the brilliant song? Disappoiting.

The cheesecake turned out brilliant. I've watched a couple of episodes of Danger 5, listened to some great music and now I am gonna watch an episode of Twin Peaks, eat some food and then go for cheesecake and coffee. Mmmmmh! Brilliant start on the day.

I've baked a cheesecake today and it looks amazing. It's a shame that I have to wait for my girl to get home and then make dinner for the two us before I can taste it. Mmmmh, it's gonna be good.

PS: I've not bought any flowers or a single gift, though. Fuck that stupid shit.

Edit: forgot to mention that I've fixed a romanti valentine's day-film for us to watch as well. I've picked the original My Bloody Valentine. I'm such a sweetheart. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

Just some random awesomeness: I remember checking out Wait and Pray by Insane, brought to my attention by @Bear in the "copycat / clone bands" thread for their amazing early Slayer-inspired stuff. So I was out shopping for a new headset at Media Markt, and guess what I run into in the bargain bin... For like €3 I couldn't leave it. Amazing to be able to randomly find this in some random Hungarian store lying around in a stack of discount CDs. Fun stuff!

    Viet Cong - Viet Cong

    Sample:
    Genre/sounds like: read below

Take Marquee Moon, Daydream Nation, Bloc Party, This Heat and a tinge of something what Syd Barrett would do - and smash 'em all together. With this being done you will spawn a neat Canadian quartet avec two ex-Women (some might remember that band...) members called "Viet Cong" - and their self-titled debut full-length! The album might be a bit of downer with its weak indie (in my case "Continental Shelf", kinda) but genuinely cool, post-punky tunes ("Death", "Bunker Buster") will defo make up for partial snooze...

Bonjour Suzuki - Watashi Kobuta Tic

    Sample:
    Genre/sounds like: Chara-meets-cokiyu-meets-daoko

Cutesy, young Japanese girl with neato taste (check her YT channel out, dem playlists!) and ASMR-stimulating, husky voice slammed one of the best newcomer AOTYs - in case you find my "soundalike" description enticing, but still have doubts, just go ahead and give her vids a chance! It might be just a mini but it packs some love for softer pop aficionados

    Carpenter Brut - Trilogy

    sample:
    Genre/sounds like: read Jig's post

Le collection of Brut's 3 EPs (incl. the one in Jig's post) - I think Jig summed up what I really wanted to say about this (pardon, my laziness)

Here comes my contribution to this topic.

Raised Fist - From The North

A very brief introduction for those who don't know this band: "Raised Fist is a Swedish hardcore band formed in 1993, Luleå, Sweden."

A great release from Raised Fist, they never disappoint. Love at first listen. Not even a track deserves to be unnoticed, it is really awesome. Almost all the songs are really catchy, the one I prefer the most is Chaos. But as I said, all the tracks are really good and overall the album is a real success. Highly recommended for hardcore/punk fans.

Listen to the full album here.

    Toundra - (IV)

Another brief introduction: "Toundra is a post-rock/post-metal/instrumental band from Madrid, Spain, formed in 2007."

I discovered Toundra near the end of last year, and after listening all of their stuff, I can say that this new release may be classified as their 2nd best work (behind (III)). To me, this band has everything to be an awesome and not-boring instrumental band. They proved it with (IV) which is a sensational album. It's ambiental, relaxing and yet can be aggressive. You can feel a harmony between all the instruments through your listen, which makes this album even better. I don't have a favorite track yet (only listened to this album 3 or 4 times only) but I'm going to drop here the promotional video for the album posted on YouTube: Kitsune. I could have chosen the song "Viesca" but sadly I haven't found a studio version of that song on YT. Basically, a band that I recommend you if you like instrumental stuff.

Full album not available on YT.

    Colibra – Damnatio Memoriae

These guys are newcomers (awesome ones, btw). I don't know when they formed (last year for sure) but I discovered them by coincidence and I really liked their music. They are a Progressive Metal/Alternative Metal band from UK. Their debut album is a good one for sure and it's worth giving it a try, reason here. The album overall is superb, and even if it has its flaws, it's still a good one.

Full album not available on YT.

That's it for me. These three albums released in January are the ones (among those that I listened) that I recommend you to listen to. You won't regret it, in principle.

    Alucarda - Raw Howls

Alucarda plays fuzzy, filthy doom metal punk in the vein of Satan's Satyrs with lyrics about biker and exploitation films, horror and the occult. Just my cup of coffee. The riffing are sleazy, the vocals are buried behind tons of smoke and the production filthy. These danish motherfuckers nails everything with this album and it is nothing short of perfect. 10/10

    Tarot - The Warrior's Spell

Tarot plays mystic heavy rock in the vein of Uriah Heep and Rainbow with a touch of Pagan Altar. This is a compilation of Tarot's 3 EPs released in 2014, as well as two new songs. Beautiful and powerful heavy rock with tons of mysticism. Music-wise the band isn't very original, but it doesn't sound like a carboncopy of anything either. Got lots of character, as well as charm and quality. And it feels good to have all three EPs gathered on one release. 9,5/10

    Spectral Voice - Necrotic Doom

Dark, putrid and lurking death/doom with plenty of Rippikoulu and Eternal Darkness influences. Great, disgusting atmoshere, superb, raw production and awesome riffs. The band's third demo and by far their best one. Very, very promising band. 9/10
