I think I'm just hopeful that CHEDOARA is not a "lightning in a bottle" type deal. I really want to know that these guys can continue to produce at and above that level. I think they've got it in em, but I really have no idea what to expect from the next single.

Last night I had a dream that I went to church camp and ran into by David Bowie who was flanked by a troupe of church girl groupies. I expressed my shock that it was really him, at which point he nodded and shook my hand before asking if I'd "like to dock my ship in the command bay." I do not know what he meant by this, but it sounds like innuendo and dream me thought so as well. I made a face and before I could further question his meaning he tried to sell me a stack of bootleg CDs and a tray of IKEA meatballs. Lunesta's a hell of a drug.

  4. i wonder how Kagrra, felt being one of the most iconic and incomparable bands in VK...

@Paraph I find that somewhat ironic considering that they're all Japanese. In any case, I'm glad they stuck to their style. It's really made them one of my all time favorite bands.

@saishuu Same here! I don't find many Kagrra, fans, so it's nice to know there is a small community of us here ^^

@nomemorial Exactly. Bands like them really make the VK scene shine. I really appreciate the gravity and the themes they tackled in their songs. And the beautiful imagery in the lyrics are very much enhanced by the amazing instrumentals. Listening to their releases never gets tiring.

@nomemorial I really don't think any other band in the world has ever done what Kagrra, accomplished with their first four mini-albums, for example. There'll never be songs that come even close to things like "幻惑の情景", "刹なる言葉", "鬼遊の唄", "鵺の哭く頃", "碧の葬列" and "夢イズル地". Not to mention they were all super young at that time too (all of them were in their early 20s iirc). They were incredible.

[gozen] remains one of the best vk debut albums of all time.

No doubt. Plus when RAGE goes in on that super fast d-beat bit...YES

Thanks for posting - first I've heard of these guys. This PV is giving me bigtime old indies VK vibes with the production, haha. (not a bad thing) I will say, I'm a bit dismayed every time I hear something from a new band and they go straight into the metalcore chugs. Some bands really do it right, but it's gotten a bit stale in my opinion. Being that they're a brand new band, though, I'll be intrigued to see where they go.

SO. READY. FOR. NEW. MUSIC. 😍

@Nighttime Jae That's actually, oddly enough, one of the things that intrigued me about them. Their products are almost entirely chemical-based and my understanding is that their whole logic is that "sure, there are plenty of things in nature that people put in skincare, but we've tested these specific things scientifically to see how they affect the skin and these are our findings." They're pretty much all in on the fact that their entire line is rooted in chemicals and "non-natural" things (even the packaging kind of reflects this). I was hesitant for the same reason, but I've had better results with their stuff than I have many other things I've tried to add to my routine in the past.

All I've personally used is the Matrixyl, but my wife has been using the Vitamin C solution, the Cold-pressed Marula Oil, and this caffeinated under-eye serum that I've been meaning to try. We've only been buying their stuff for the past few months but it's all been a success so far, so I really don't think you can go wrong with any of it!

Listened to every full-length album/mini-album from the GazettE over the course of the last week since I hadn't done so in a very long time (really never gave a lot of their full-lengths the proper time of day until DOGMA). I'm having trouble ranking them in my head, but I do like NINTH much more this time around than when it first came out. DOGMA is still my favorite and overall their most consistent effort. MADARA is the best of their pre-"the GazettE" material and one of their best releases overall, really did a great job of capturing multiple genres in a tightly wrapped package. Disorder, NIL, Stacked Rubbish, and DIM had some really standout tracks (the first two being interesting to me as they feel very transitional sound-wise from "ガゼット" to "the GazettE" - I do think there is a bit of a stylistic difference between the two, even if only because of time and growth). Toxic feels the least memorable to me immediately. Division and Beautiful Deformity both surprised me as I felt they ended up being better than expected as a whole. Whoever said a few posts up that they're consistent in terms of sound, but maybe not songwriting, kinda hit the nail on the head. None of their albums are bad in my opinion, but it's also a bit difficult in immediate succession to judge the strongest output since many of the songs run together and feel similar to one another. DOGMA and NINTH are definitely a cut above the rest, though. Overall I think they're at their strongest when they work in extremes - their REALLY aggressive tracks and their more reserved, ballad-style tracks are their most memorable and the ones I'm most likely to go back to. The stuff that sits in the more nu-metal/alt-rock range isn't bad (and is certainly better than most western bands floating in those genres), it just runs together a bit more than the rest. /end long post 😅

Have been listening to the GazettE's entire discography basically all week. Still doing that right now.

Every look has been posted like...minutes before I wake up each morning and it has given me something to look forward to. Hoping that just means there's more to look forward to tomorrow with a group photo or *fingers crossed* new music/video.

I'm really enjoying this season overall - I think there's a lot of great camaraderie, I'm just not a huge fan of Silky and Ra'jah's personalities. I love A'keria, Yvie, and Vanjie, though. Nina, Plastique, and Brooke Lynn are very strong competitors, too. Really excited for Snatch Game (as always)!!

Been blazing through Good Omens by Gaiman/Pratchett. Loving it. Otherwise, been trying to finish Deadhouse Gates (Malazan #2) by Erikson for awhile and bouncing around through other books bit-by-bit.

Scarlet's elimination is a travesty. She slayed Ra'jah in the lipsync, Ra'jah was in the bottom 3 times (and hasn't done anything noteworthy otherwise), and Scarlet was a consistently improving queen from day one (with a win under her belt). Don't know how they even justify that. I think they're pushing a Ra'jah as villain narrative in the production side or something and will try and find some way to bring Scarlet back from a storyline angle or something. Just seemed off.
  16. I am a big-time Libra. Actually, that might explain my attraction to VK as a whole - seems to go hand-in-hand. I (sometimes regrettably) find that I fit the standard Libra attributes to a tee (except for the dishonest/infidelitous side, which I don't relate to at all). Otherwise I fully embrace the sign and its pleasant mixture of vanity and logic. My moon is in Taurus, which also feels pretty on the money in terms of comfort and desire for familiar surroundings. I'm a big "nester" and I like nice, comfortable things, so...

My wife has given me a solid (and necessary) push to do a bit more with my daily skincare routine and I've been pleased with the results thus far. I've been wary of adding anything to my daily routine as I had pretty frustrating acne in my teenage years so I have this weird latent fear that any change in my normal routine will be disastrous (and luckily that hasn't been the case). Outside of general facewash (Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser) and moisturizer (Aveeno Clear Complexion) I've added a fine-line reduction serum from The Ordinary (Matrixyl - it has worked quite splendidly) and daily facial sunscreen (Neutrogena Ultrasheer 55+) to protect my aging and naturally pale skin from the elements. Doing a bit more for my skin as really breathed a lot of "life" back into it and as someone who's generally terrified of aging poorly I'm glad I've been making some changes now. Really can't say enough good things about The Ordinary's products, too. My wife has converted me wholly to what they sell and it's everything I love - functional, aesthetically packaged, and VERY cheap.

Just noticed there's a musicians board in here. My band dropped an EP earlier this year and the whole thing is available on Bandcamp (and Spotify and etc.) - rottingindirt.bandcamp.com Chaotic metal stuff in the vein of Cult Leader, Plebeian Grandstand, etc. We put out a little video for the lead single, too! Hope you enjoy. 👍
  19. One of my favorite current bands.
  20. This thread took a turn. Here, have some new Lord Snow.
