  1. Alright, I guess I can more or less confirm that Kisaki's Levia existed .. but there's now even more confusion regarding the tapes.

There is this auction where someone sold Levia's KELOID tape and the seller also describes that it's Kisaki's band and that the tape contains 2 tracks (which fits to the official listing on Kisaki's site).

    http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b158133370

The same seller also sold this tape... which he describes as Kisaki's Levia band as well. But he didn't say how it's called, only that it was live distributed.

    http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b158348584

(Thanks to @hyura♡ who spotted these auctions ;D)

And guess what.. That's the 滅びの序章 tape that was on RarezHut ! Some time ago when I asked @Biopanda about it, he told me that it's a different Levia and not Kisaki's so I always assumed there were two Levia bands. Kisaki's sources never listed a tape called 滅びの序章 either.

But then I took a closer look at Levia's history on his official site and spotted something...

    1993年

    09.01 KISAKIを中心に結成
    09.21 和歌山オールドタイムにて初ライブ開催。
    10.10 1st DEMO TAPE「滅序章」発売。
    11.15 和歌山オールドタイムにてDEMO TAPE発売記念ワンマン公演開催。
    12.21 2nd DEMO TAPE「KELOID」発売。
    12.24 和歌山オールドタイムにてDEMO TAPE発売記念2DAYSワンマン公演開催。
    12.25 和歌山オールドタイムにてDEMO TAPE発売記念2DAYSワンマン公演開催。

    1994年

    01.23 和歌山オールドタイムワンマン公演にてDEMO TAPE「My Duel」無料配布。
    02.14 和歌山オールドタイムにてワンマン公演開催。
    03.10 和歌山オールドタイムにて解散ワンマンライブを開催。

There are 4 dates where a demo tape was distributed at their live. One of them is called "My Duel" so I guess we can drop that one. The others don't have a title mentioned.

After some more google work I (woops..I mean hyura xD) found this picture from an old auction:

    myth_ceo-thumb-1389168676323908.jpg

    Now this looks familiar, right?

My conclusion is.. this might be indeed Kisaki's Levia and it's the tape that was distributed on two days on christmas in 93 - black-white on one day and green the other day.

I'd like to ask anyone who owns this tape, or Biopanda who sold it .. What is written on the inlay/sheet or whatever comes with that demo. Are there any member names? And where does the title 滅びの序章 come from, is it written somewhere? It's a bit weird that Kisaki doesn't mention this title while being so thorough and accurate when it comes to his history.

By looking at those crappy pics on it, that guy on the left kinda looks like a young Kisaki and his Levia also had 3 members.

There is still one thing that supports the -2 Levia's- theory:

On the website of CLUB GIO Ichikawa there are numerous "LEVIA" lives listed for 1993. But like already mentioned in this thread, Kisaki's band never played in CLUB GIO and the shows listed there don't fit to the ones on Kisaki's site at all.

Yeah, so .. what do you think? Mystery solved or not yet?

    /Sherlock mode off

  2. It's not that VICE∞RISK are completly unrelated to Kisaki, lets all remember that Kisaki and Hibiki were and are big friends. If Kisaki lied, Hibiki knew about it. Anyway, I don't care, it's completly a white lie, not harmful at all, and Kisaki is way to good person to be ever critized by me.

Are you talking about Hibiki = Yayoi? He is from Vice†risk (the Matina band), they have nothing to do with VICE∞RISK.

  3. Thank you for the pics!

Yeah, I think on the second pic that's not supposed to be LAYBIAL - I'm 99% sure it's SHEY≠DE. There's also Shio on that photo who was a member of SHEY≠DE.

But the "LAYBIAL" pic... I'm really not sure. LAYBIAL had 4 members.. Why are there only 3 on the photo?

And this may be just my imagination but somehow, those two guys look like his GARDEN bandmates. :D

The one to the right on your pic is here on the left side while the other one is in the front. Their faces look the same to me and GARDEN indeed had only 3 members.

  4. I also looked through my old mags and found some 'Kisaki photo gallery' in a minikomi from '99!

No photo/mention of levia, but two pictures of Laybial. One of them is commented with '1994.5.30 Umeda Guild, Even between the photos I have this one is pretty old. Because this band is currently with Matina there's propably lots of people who are like 'what?' now. The details are secret.' ... So the live history of that band seems to be legit I guess. ;D

The other photo is dated 1994.9.21... which is technically when he was already in his next band. : o So no idea.

I don't think this is a definitive proof. The pictures could be of any other band from that time where he played as a guest musician or something like that. Is he even recognizable on those pics? A scan would be nice, if it's not too much trouble!

Especially the fact that the second "LAYBIAL" photo is from a time where he already was in SHEY≠DE. Also, "The details are secret". Yeah sure, guess why...

Well. Kisaki was also the guy who took random pictures from google and uploaded them to his blog to look like he had a life.

Wow, I didn't know that! Well, things like this and also THIS:

edit: there is a blog entry here where kisaki says he visited Levias guitarist in Wakayama who is now married with the woman who was their staff at that time. : o But the photo is some UCP people. XD (at least not stolen from google!)

are even more reasons not to believe what he writes about his history...

    @ inartistic

Please, we all want to see that tape! D:

  5. He was 16~17 years old.

These teen guys always try to copy their heroes.

Sorry, but how are some obscure teen bands who were probably as "big" as Kisaki's band "heroes" for them...?

As for the fact that it was common to copy certain phrases and titles: Yeah that's true, when you look at a number of vk bands you may see some similar titles here and there. But THIS is just too conspicuous.. I mean.. They just took a whole tracklist and simply copy-pasted it. Maybe added 1-2 songs. I don't know but it's just extremely weird that something like this was done on purpose, concerning at least 3 different bands. I haven't seen anything like this in any other vk band.

This would also mean that they all had to be from the same region. How else could have such tiny bands heard about each other and even know their song titles (and the order in which they recorded them on their demo tape...)? According to Kisaki's official site (which I just found), Levia were from Wakayama (Kisaki's birth town). Nude of J (formed 1 year before Levia) were from Gunma prefecture, which is nearly half across Japan from the Wakayama area.

Or maybe the 15-17 year old Kisaki traveled around Japan and went to numerous lives of bands who were together for a month and thought "FUCK YEAH! KELOID, PRAY, VIRGINING PLESURES! Guys I have no idea what it means but your song titles rock my socks! Hell, I'll make a band when I'm home and use all of them (including spelling mistakes)"

No seriously... it seems a little bit too far-fetched. :/

Also: I own a Levia tape and have seen others, so that definitely ends the theory.

Wow, which tape is it? Can you tell us about the songs on it?

  6. never saw a single trace of the actual existence of KISAKI's Levia other than those originally comming from own KI$AKI's sources

Exactly.. I haven't seen any real evidence for these bands either.

On this fansite here are even pictures of SHEY≠DE and GARDEN (probably from the history book?), but none of Levia and LAYBIAL.

    http://www.yurameki.it/kisaki/kisaki-bands.html

Oh and in case someone doesn't know.. That pic when you click on LAYBIAL's profile is a Matina band from the late 90s. They also fucked up their lineup by adding Kisaki as the 1st bassist, lol.

And more stuff I noticed.. When you compare the title of another Kisaki-Levia tape to the one of the other 90s Levia band (which definitely exists), there's some similarity as well.

    Kisaki: 滅 序章

    not Kisaki: 滅びの序章

The sound and look of this band also fits perfectly into the time Kisaki's band supposedly was around (1992-1994).

  7. I noticed some very strange things about Kisaki's bands Levia and LAYBIAL, which were around in 1993 and 1994. For example, this is the tracklisting of the MISS tape by LAYBIAL.

    01. Dejavu
    02. MISS
    03. virginig Plesures
    04. Refuse
    05. MOTHER
    06. One More Love

    Official source: http://under-ground-music.com/kisakihppart/english/DiscShosai.php?shohinNo=000009

Also in the mid-90s there was a band called VICE∞RISK. They released the tape Mother and this is the tracklist:

    01. Virgining Plesures
    02. Refuse
    03. Mother
    04. One More Love

I saw the lyrics sheet with my own eyes, so I can confirm that it's real.

Now let's look at Levia's KELOID tape:

    01. KELOID
    02. PRAY

    Official source: http://under-ground-music.com/kisakihppart/english/DiscShosai.php?shohinNo=000007

Around the same time there was a band called Nude of J. Their 傷痕 demo looks like this:

    01. KELOID
    02. 恋に焦がれ愛に埋もれ
    03. PRAY

I also saw a sheet of this tape, the tracklist is legit.

I can upload pics of the VICE∞RISK and Nude of J tracklists, if you guys want to see a proof.

So.. Can anyone explain this? For me, it doesn't make sense at all.
VICE∞RISK and Nude of J seem to be COMPLETELY unrelated to Kisaki or his bands. I even compared the member names, because sometimes members went into different bands and rerecorded songs they've written for another band, but there's not a single similar name anywhere.
Was Kisaki making things up when he decided to release information about this old bands and just took random songtitles of obscure bands from that time? O:

Or did the bands just covered each other, which is highly unlikely...

I know there's a KISAKI history book out there. Maybe someone here owns it, so we could compare the titles? But I'm 99% sure that it will contain the same information as on that UCP site.

  8. Wait what..oxbxjxe?! And Ange∞Graie, ZEDEKIAH, TAI:LEN..? What the hell, this is too awesome to believe!
Did they really write MONO TONE and not Tinker Bell as an ex-band for Toshihiro? That's pretty weird.

And lol at digging out the oxbxjxe bassist. I thought he retired in 94/95.

  10. I don't have the booklet so I wouldn't know for sure, but I would assume it's hiragana simply based on the fact that the の is a hiragana. I think they sometimes use katakana instead of hiragana to make a title look more "ancient", writing particales and the kana stems of kanji in katakana was pretty common in older times. (So I wouldn't say that using katakana for these particles is "not correct" - it's just an outdated, antique way of writing.)  But when it was used, it was used coherently, ie. you would either write ALL of them in katakana, or ALL of them in hiragana, as you would today. So I don't think they would randomly have one hiragana particle and one katakana particle within the same title.

Thanks for the explanation! I didn't know that using katakana is an antique way of writing kana stems.

So if it's either all hiragana or all katakana.. does it mean that for example the title 開放サレタ君ヘ (it's a Shiver song) is an example of "ancient writing" where the ヘ is supposed to be katakana because サレタ is katakana? Or is this a different story since there's no particle in the title? I don't even understand what サレタ is supposed to mean...

Btw, here's a scan of the Madeth title for reference.

    10099630035_09c2f27316_z.jpg

Alot of japanese ppl i have met told me the reason why some bands (such as madeth) write the katakana instead of hiragana is because japanese people think that katakana looks a bit frightening and stiff compared to hiragana (this is supposedly something that most japanese people thinks... atleast according to my friends). They also told me alot of horror movies does the same, to have the same impression. ^^

You may be onto something there! O:

This made me instantly think of the horror movie "Noroi". Usually you would write Noroi (curse) as 呪い, but the movie title is written ノロイ.

  11. Recently the spring sun was shining into my apartment again and I was almost blinded trying to take a sunny picture of myself.
