Muma got a reaction from paradoxal in random thoughts thread
[[after i'd finished, I decided to read it back, WHOA I can barely make out my point despite it being mere minutes ago. But it just falls into the relevance of the random thoughts thread I guess]]

Recently I've found the whole attitude towards music confusing. Maybe it's because I've been out of the loop, not only on MH but other places too.

We criticize people and their way of making music, their livelihood.
    Rights.
    What rights do we have?
Leaving it out there for the public to sample, they're asking for it...
    But asking for what exactly?
Because I walk outside on a regular basis does that mean other people have the right to assault me?
Of course not, we'd be stupid if we thought like that
Or would we? Decency in the humans around you is the only thing that allows us to keep on living

Okay, so I lost my trail of thought slightly there, but perhaps you're still with me. It's just the criticisms of music as if there's some objective standard of correctness that we ascribe to all music. Opinions are fine, reasoned well, keeping the space open so others can still breathe and not live in constant fear. But constant attacks and blunt rejections, dude...

Visual kei too, reading a thread in 'News' about BORN. A concept of a favorite band? I don't really understand it.
Taking each release as it comes rather than always looking back. Always comparing.
Meaningless speculations, 'it's not their fault'
Change? You can't bring it about...
Refusing to believe that 'your' band will fall into 'that' category and turning a blind eye to everything that tells them that it is the case
    Epitome of the phrase

Off topic again with my disjointed thoughts, apologies
Maybe I just have an extremely dry sense of humor or some of my company has rubbed off on me finally. I can't draw a line between criticism, pure hate and jokes. Of course, i'm not one to talk. I'm just as responsible.
But is it really so fulfilling?

Muma reacted to Haruto in アヲイ(awoi) new mini album & LIVE DVD release
I'm actually a little pissed that we've been waiting for a decent live DVD for almost 10 years (as stated above) and then they only sell it via their online shop and in two types. That's just ridiculous.
So if a foreigner wants it, he has to pay extra costs for a shopping service. If we want to see their whole perfomance, we need to buy two DVDs because it's cut in the middle.
Sadie are signed to the same label and you get their DVDs thrown at your feet. How many do they have by now? 8? 9? 150?
And all Awoi ever offered was crows after growing which is low quality live clips with the CD's music playing to it and the live that was on the B-Type of the Owari no Melody mini. Quality was equally horrible.
    No Awoi, just no.

I guess you could view it that way but at the moment I think i'm at the determined stage where I think 'yeah I can do well at this even if I don't pay to get rare summons'
Ahhhh still so naive, but you probably can get pretty far without paying anything (or so I hope)

Muma reacted to Niku in What music do you exercise/workout/get active to?
You mentioned Mr. Manson, so I'm assuming this means that the music can be a language other than JP.

I find a lot of the soundtrack for MGR:Revengeance are pretty good for exercising or working out to.

As for songs that I know of, well..

    Let's Go by Blue Stahli.
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk.
Shippin' Up To Boston by Dropkick Murphys.
Acceleration, Rave-Up Tonight, Burn the DIsco Floor with Your "2-Step" by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Journey through the Decade, Jounetsu no Inazuma, RIDE OR DIE, REDEMPTION and Until the Last Day by GACKT.
    Driving Time, Drain by Girugamesh.
Lightning, UNTIL I DIE, The Morning Glow, THEY'RE ALL AFRAID, I Believe In Me by lynch.
Majority of Man With A Mission's discography I personally find to be good for working out too. (Emotions, Distance, Fly Again, Don't Lose Yourself, Never Mind The Rules, Feel and Think and Smells like Teen Spirit for examples.)
In a similar vein to MWAM, One Ok Rock has a few decently paced songs that get me going when needs be.
Beautiful Golden Taurus and The Group of an Acid Butterfly by Sever Black Paranoia.
Naked Arms, Summer Blizzard by T.M.Revolution.
400 Days(Very sexy guitar riff), The Catalyst, Fireball and Bring it On by Undivide.

Of course, mileage may vary, so take with a grain of salt or whatever.
(mostly, this is what I play when I'm doing my nightly push-ups/sit-ups or when I'm gaming, not sure if it's fitting for anything else, so...)

Muma reacted to Original Saku in Have you ever successfully converted someone to Japanese music?
No. most people where I live can't get pass the language barrier and are too narrow minded... not to mention they're all into this radio rap/pop bullshit that's popular here for some reason, so I doubt they even appreciate good music to begin with.

I however have successfully converted quite a few friends into watching subbed anime over dubbed xD

Muma reacted to Peace Heavy mk II in Drastic changes in musical taste
It could be that they got exposed to more things in a very small amount of time. Hypothetical example, but suppose they started college and had 3 roommates who were very musical. That would have exposed them to a great deal of other genres outside of vkei and possibly cause them to feel they've really compartmentalized their own tastes and try other things be it for variety, better production, or to fit in with the people they're around most now.

It could also very well be that they've been changing all a long, but the result seemed immediate to an outsider.

As for the people who seem like their favorites change within 10 minutes, they probably never really liked that "favorite thing" to start with and seem like the kind of person who throw around superlatives without really placing any stock in their severity.

I'm interested too, don't know how often I can do it but definitely willing to give it a go.
Throwing this out there, if we do decide to do a livestream type setup then maybe we could start with a couple of anime movies? Just to test out how everything works and how many people are actually interested in it, with no long term commitment and just and just to refine the system (this may or may not be an excuse to finish Perfect Blue if we reach on consensus on what to watch > . <)

I've not watched too many anime, but i'm definitely willing to throw some suggestions in the mix because i'm currently trying to catch up to One Piece and I have no time for longer anime. Hence everything i'm will watch now will be marathonable in a couple of nights max (then I can plan out when i'm free)
It'll also be great to have some suggestions on what to watch!

I sensed a disturbance in the force and it is because you have stuff in your life to sort out. It makes me sad because I would want for you to have enough time for both MH and life but we all know that can't always happen. I'm glad you aren't completely leaving and come back as soon as you are able to! MH misses you already.

I'm really not that good. I just put words together.
