    BUILD THE WALL

    hey you need to think globally: mh ppl who will be there can contribute with some ca$h to pay minpha-chan for fucking ishiki_kawaii-chan in the ass. that might heal his wretched heart and change him altogether. we could finally stop sleeping in fear for our lives and don't afraid of fbi anymore ;w;

Minpha never talks, like Emiru from Lareine and Mana. It's his thing.

imo that just makes him look smug and stupid. he lost half of his kawaiiness points :/

  2. been watching The Sopranos lately (just finished 5th season). it's really good: the dialogues, actors' play, setting - everything reeks of high quality stuff. however, my only disappointment there is a plot. not saying it's bad, but when i watch a long-running series i expect it to have some climax, some events stirring. where the fuck are season finale cliffhangers that leave you hopelessly waiting in despair for the next season? so that's that. otherwise i enjoy watching it. also young and juicy Drea de Matteo such a sight for a sore eye!

    This band..
Judging from their look and logo i thought they would be totally different than they turned out. Saw them at a MEABEL event this year.
What seemed to me as a wanna be cool, heavy yakuza slang talking, seemingly aggressive, 140 cm small, bad-singer vocalist "attacked" one girl in the crowd after screaming at her from the stage because she wasnt headbanging or for what reason whatsoever (was her position center or how its called, 2nd or 3rd row from the front and in the middle), kicked her bag and heavily pushed/threw her backwards. While everyone clearly saw that, not one person there did anything, not even her shocked friend standing next to her. She left, came back to grab her bag and showed middle finger to them (and fully left?). Singer clearly seemed to enjoy that.

A lot of band guys jump in the crowd at the gig, but only in "a positive way" such as Dispinas vocalist happily dancing with the fans.

First and only time i've ever saw such thing at an vk live (hitting amongst fans might be more common i heard).

Standing last row on the side as always (being 1 head taller than everyone), i had no idea what to do/ how to react. To stand up for her i didnt know the background story enough, dont want to cause trouble as foreigner, etc.

    Meh.

(Didnt know if this is the right place to post this).

holy cunt! O__O WE FOUND THE NEW SAVIOR OF VK! HAIL!

  4. ^ kinda surprised you didn't include Westworld :o not a masterpiece but a very decent and high quality show, imo.

as for me, i was quite lazy to watch new series last year, mostly chased after finished/completed stuff. i still have yet to check such promising series as Stranger Things, This is Us and The Crown (Netflix + historical political drama = masterpiece, or so do i hope here haha). so for now it's only Westworld and The Night Of.

finished Battlestar Galactica earlier. i didn't entirely get what i've expected from this series but i enjoyed a couple of plot twists there. hated the social/political aspect, though. overall it's pretty good stuff and a must-watch for all sci-fi-fags.

watched first season of Forbrydelsen (aka The Killing). holy shit i didn't expect danish series to be that good! i've seen the US adaptation few years ago and really liked it. but the original seems to be even better! i feel ashamed that it was carelessly neglected by me back in days when i checked the adaptation. but it's for the best, because now i still have 2 seasons of this delicious criminal thriller, dayum!

  5. i've been planing to watch Drifters since i first heard about anime adaptation. read manga 5 years ago, after having that shitty void because of watching Hellsing OVAs lol. there were only twenty-something chapters at that time and the gap between each new chapter was around 3 months iirc. for my own sake i decided to drop manga and wait for the time when it'll hit complete status. i heard there's also going to be second season of Drifters, so i'm not in a hurry to watch the first for now. I CAN MANAGE TO WAIT A COUPLE MORE MONTHS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS ANYWAY. and well, i've just started rewatching Gintama... that'll keep me busy for quite a while ;w;

Hey @Gaz, have you seen The Expanse? Space opera, often compared to series like Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Star Wars and so on. In other words, classic, space opera. But this has got a twist, it's half neo-noir. One of the best series I've ever seen. Absolute brilliant! Only beaten by Stranger Things post-The Wire.

not yet, but it was in my to-watch list for quite a while. it's just that completed series have higher priority there, that's why i was always postponing that one. i plan on checking it when 2nd season will be out. anyway i watched Battlestar Galactica miniseries and half of first season and it's good so far. though, i'm always a bit too nitpicking about sci-fi stuff and the future stuff they are showing to us. i mean, all those wires and old keyboards and monitors and other stuff - man, that is just an old hardware stuff.

speaking of space operas, have you ever seen japanese animated series from late 80's Legend of the Galactic Heroes (orig. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu)? that one is a masterpiece! combat strategy/tactics, politics, character relationships - everything is on very high level. sad to see that it's not very popular out here.

  7. mini-updates:

    - finished The Shield because it was great.

    - dropped The Prisoner because it wasn't.

    - watched 6 seasons of The West Wing and i'm mostly enjoying it. though, it's not that kind of a show which you can watch 24/7, after 8-9 episodes per day i become a bit tired of it.

    - watched 3 seasons of Seinfeld and I FUCKING LOVE IT! the humor is hilarious! i can't believe this show was never broadcast in my country instead of 23123 re-runs of Friends. and Seinfeld is probably the closest to Friends' comedy level (or maybe it'll even be better, can't say for sure at this point).

    - plan to watch Battlestar Galactica in a few days after i finish last season of The West Wing. i feel like this is my last chance to get something similar to LOST, suspense-wise. but we'll see.

I wouldn't say Gintama had low ratings, it was unpopular in the west but it was well know in Japan. I would say that maybe the historical and cultural references, which were a lot more than the usual mainstream anime, might have confused some people or couldn't be appreciated by everyone.

But it will always be a personal favorite of mine.

but it actually had. i'm not saying that ratings were really low, but manga ratings were in between of average and below average from what i've seen. also in anime they were always bitching about shitty ratings. i remember when first season was airing there was a lot of debates about "oh wow we've managed to survive another year omg it's unbelievable" and at beginning of every new season Gintoki and Co. used to brag about having a new season of Gintama despite low ratings and shit.  and i'm not sure where it was more popular - here or there, but in their long-running term they never were as popular as narubleapiece. it's definitely not for everyone and you have to be fucked in the head somуehow to like Gintama

  9. pachinko arc is probably the least interesting one in kaiji. my biggest disappointment there is him fighting a machine, not real people. well, yeah, it was rigged and they could control it but it's not the same when he fights those gambling fuckers who cheat their ways out by all means possible (even impossible sometimes lol) i still love it nonetheless xD kaiji is a fucking masterpiece for me and i highly recommend you to read 3rd season, Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji. some crazy shit's going on there!

I highly recommend the sitcoms It's always sunny in philadelphia and Arrested Development.

watched Arrested Development but i can't say this was a superb comedy show. i liked it, though. some jokes were quite unique and funny, and characters weren't annoying as it often happens with comedy series. but the last season was pretty bad tbh.

and i'm aware of ...Philadelphia but that show has so many seasons and it's still airing. maybe some other time, haha.

It bothers me a lot actually. It's hard to buy that a bunch of rotten police or badass, violent bikers don't swear, curse or anything like that. To me it's like a slasher film without any blood. Can it work and be enjoyable? Of course it can, but the film would be a lot better with blood. Just like a lot of these series would be a lot better with a stronger/dirtier language.

America, man. Show some nudity and lots of violence? Sure, that's fine. Having someone say FUCK a couple of times? Heeeeeeeeeeell naaw!!!

Anyway, for recent comedies I'll highly recommend Derek (drama/comedy), Master of None (Comedy), Ash vs Evil Dead (horror/comedy), Danger 5 (bizarre, absurd adventure/action/comedy). None of these are straight up comedies though, but they're all great, and offers something quite different. Master of None is the closest to a straight up comedy, but it's a lot more than just that, and it's not a show to make you burst out in laughter.

lol yeah, SoA if so fucking brutal with all the gory details, that often i felt natural disgust to what i've seen. also don't get why did they haven't include appropriate language.

and damn, why the fuck did you mentioned that lack of swearing? when i was clueless about it i could enjoy it much more, but now it also bothers me! and there are still like 5 seasons of The Shield, thanks a lot!

i might try that Master of None and Danger 5. both look pretty promising. i'm aware of Ash vs Evil Dead, watched 1st season, but that kind of humor isn't really my cup of tea...

  11. yeah, somehow i assumed it was HBO's but after i wrote that post i was reading wiki and saw that it's FX's. and now that you mentioned it, indeed, language has lack of good swearing. though, that doesn't bothers me at all.

that's what i assumed when i decided to start Brooklyn 9-9, but somehow jokes and humor there are so dull and not funny, that i couldn't help but drop it. Andy Samberg is a really bad actor imo (although i like some of Lonely Island music videos).

and honestly i haven't watched a good comedy series in ages. there's nothing that look promising among ongoing series. maybe i should explore some oldies, like Seinfield.

  12. so Gintama's new (and unfortunately last) season will start airing on January. really sad about it tbh. i honestly wouldn't mind if this anime/manga would air endlessly. but all good things come to an end so it can't be helped. it had a good run despite quite low ratings(both manga and anime's). i guess it's about time to start rewatching Gintama from the very beginning.
