Haha cute but you kind of are. Osare is a joke term for oshare so yeah Nyasagi is right. Oshare means someone who's really stylish, osare means someone who thinks they're really stylish, but in fact they're not.

This 110%. This is honestly why I don't come on here much anymore. Anytime I'd mention I'm purchasing or purchased something visual kei, I get requests to share it... Then people bitch at me when I won't share with them. Buy it yourself. Period.

I also don't think covers from the 90s should count either because it's the 90s.

Pop music being crap? That is totally subjective. As for me, I don't like pop music much (although sometimes I enjoy listening to the 90's pop music xD) but when you see a kid suffering from cancer who listens to, I don't know, Rihanna (is that her name?) and her songs bring a smile and a happy moment for the suffering kid, then you start realising you just give too much importance to your personal taste in music...

My Dad to this day hates the Beetles but that's because he has an older sister that was swept up in Beetlemania and so he had to endure the whole thing to the bitter end through her.

I think a lot of the angry little boys mad about Bieber have sisters (or even Mom's) that are caught up in the Bieber storm. So going online and venting about how much they hate him is their only outlet from the agony they must go through.

So I think there's a lot of that really and not so much sexism hatred or something (I'm not totally following what I just read). Yet just kinda take a step back and realize that these are probably dumb little boys that have to go to school everyday and deal with girls with Bieber pictures all over their binders and lockers. It might seem like they're going out of their way to hate on Bieber online but they probably have to deal with Bieber fans more than you may think.

I love many songs by Billy Joel. I know some of it can be sappy and romantic, but I some of the songs hold some meaning for me.

HOWEVER I fucking can't STAND the song "Piano Man."

I think when I first heard it, I thought it was pretty interesting but now I'm sick of it and it just pisses me off. I say this is "unpopular" because almost  everyone I know starts making dramatic orgasm noises every time it comes on the radio and then start going on a rant about how music was so great back then. It's. Not. The. Only. Popular. Song. With. A. Fucking. Piano. In. It.

Well... that's easy. You just need to tease your hair with a comb, fix with hairspray and wax (or anything else), and (optional) burn with hair straightener if you want. You can see a lot of helpful tutorial on youtube if you search gyaruo / host inspired videos ^^

^ I concur it's lame as hell. Could they at least play it faster, make the guitar sound rougher or do something... anything that would make it sound more hard hitting and less lame. The riff is about as exciting as drinking water.

I thoroughly recommend Silent Hill 2. It's not scary in the sense of things jumping out at you. Instead, in true SH style, it messes with your head and really affects you with its oppressie atmosphere. There's a bit near the start where you enter the first 'big area' (the apartments); outside it's quite bright despite the fog and noisy due to the monsters etc.

As soon as you enter the apartments it's incredibly dark and COMPLETELY silent.

I'm not a fan of horror games generally (because I'm a wimp ) but I stuck this game out until the end. Definitely worth playing for the story alone!

I also heard that SH3 is damn good but after watching a couple of trailers, I pooped myself

    Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly

Synopsis: Mio and Mayu, twin sisters, are visiting their childhood home. This spot, a secret hideaway for the pair, is due to be swallowed up by a lake come the end of the summer.
Lost in her memories, Mio finally raises her head to find that Mayu has vanished. Looking around, Mio spots her sister following a crimson butterfly deep into the forest.
Mayu flees through the forest as if being led on by the fluttering insect. As she runs, her fleeting form begins to be overlaid with that of a woman dressed in white.
Chasing after her sister, Mio suddenly finds herself alone on a foggy mountain road.
Carried on by the wind, a sad song floats towards her ears. Then, she starts to see lights through the gaps in the trees.
As though accepting their unspoken invitation, Mio follows the road of festival lights.
However, when the dense forest opens into a clearing, it is Mayu who is standing there, alone, surrounded by countless crimson butterflies,
    "...Mayu?"
Responding to Mio's call, Mayu slowly turns around. The crimson butterflies dance away as one,
    "The Lost...Village..."
Spreading there before the twins, crouching in fog and darkness lies a mysterious village...
The vanished village, "All God's Village."
The village is said to have once stood in the forest, deep in the mountains. This forest is soon to be lost due to the creation of a new dam.
The story goes, that on the eve of a special festival, the village suddenly vanished, leaving the forest wreathed in thick fog.
Many also say that should you happen to get lost in this forest, you will be spirited away to the lost village.
The village where the crimson butterflies dance. The village held forever in the grip of a never-ending night.

    Forbidden Siren (Original)

    Synopsis:
Siren is set in a Japanese village named Hanuda (Hanyuda in the Japanese version). With strong religious beliefs important in the area, the locals like to keep to themselves and have sought to keep Hanuda isolated from the outside world.  Following the interruption of a ritual near Hanuda, and a subsequent earthquake, the village teeters between time and space, with an infinite sea of red water replacing the mountainous territory. The crux of the story focuses on the efforts of Hisako Yao, the leader of the local religion, to resurrect or re-awaken a god through a ceremony. The 'Siren' of the title is the god's call, summoning Hanuda's residents to immerse themselves in the red water, thus creating an army of subordinates called shibito (屍人 shibito lit. "corpse people"). The shibito then go about building a nest to house the god's corporeal form once it is summoned, as well as killing and converting any remaining humans left in Hanuda. The story is told through the perspectives of ten survivors, some of whom are natives of Hanuda, and is presented out of chronological order over the three days in which the plot takes place.

I do believe there was a thread for this quite a while back, but I figured it would be better to make a new thread for it altogether.

So this is the thread where you can talk about and post the visual kei album covers that you find incredibly tacky, ugly, amateuristic, etc. Some elaboration is always welcome.

I would already like to nominate for tackiest cover of 2013:

Jupiter's CLASSICAL ELEMENT Type A cover and:

One of D's covers for their new single (like what ahaha).

The covers don't have to be from 2013 btw, just post any VK cover you like (VK-limited of course, because what other scene has tackier covers than VK).

Oh man, I'm not even gonna get into this. I'm not talking about the legitimacy of VK being metal or djent or any of that. For the most part I do agree with your post but that's not what I was really talking about. My initial post is mostly tongue-in-cheek, while I still don't agree that BABYMETAL is a metal band I'm also not being all BLARG METAL RAWR and slamming my face in my keyboard over it either.

BABYMETAL is an idol group with metal asethetics but not a metal band. There's really not much else to say about it, it's an idol group not a metal band. At least the VK bands that can barely play their instruments have a bit more legitimacy being 'metal' because they're an actual real band, not an idol group.

That's basically why I don't agree with BABYMETAL being a metal band because they're not even a band, they're idol singers and an idol group.

    I don't mind D.I.D.

I normally don't like auto-tune and electronic industrial metal or rock but going back to auto-tune, it definitely does have its place. The problem I have is when it's forcibly used and is painfully obvious how out of place it is. D.I.D. is fine because from the get go you know that they heavily use electronic elements in their music and the auto-tune actually goes along with it quite nicely. D.I.D. is the first band that has started to grow on me because they've balanced your traditional rock sound with the electronic sound quite nicely to the point that for someone like me that normally doesn't like heavily electronic music, can enjoy them because it's not so beebop technoy for me.

I have to disagree with Arithmetica on the BABYMETAL not being metal. To me they are. Sure they may not be your typical metal band, and are on the poppy side, but they still are metal.

Which brings me to my other point. Metal is metal. Djent is metal, VK is (can be) metal, progressive metal is metal, metalcore is metal, deathcore is metal,  alternative metal is metal, death metal is metal, industrial metal is metal, grindcore is metal, symphonic metal is metal, powermetal is metal, black metal is metal. Electronic-posthardcore-bleep-bloop-w/e is metal.

I’m so tired of metal fans bashing other sub-genres of metal and refusing to acknowledge them as metal simply because they don’t fit their own personal description of the genre, or because they don’t like a certain band. I see people bashing any type of metal that has clean vocals as utter crap simply because the band chooses not to use BROOTAL growled vocals all the time. Likewise I see death metal gets flak for “generic,” or “indistinguishable” growled vocals. Technical/progressive metal bands with crazy instrumental and composition skills get crap for “useless instrumental wankery”, symphonic for lack of heaviness, metalcore for breakdowns/pedal point riffs, and metal fusion bands for using other genres of music that aren’t metal, electronica, post-hardcore, pop etc.

This type of narrow mindedness is even present in the Japanese music scene. More traditional heavy metal acts from Japan don’t consider VK bands who actually play a style of metal (usually a variation on metalcore) metal simply because said VK band may use poppy choruses or dress in colorful visually striking attire. It might not be traditional metal, but VK can certainly still be metal, as can any other sub-genre can.

The numerous incarnations metal has taken is actually what I love about the genre. The crazy amount of sub-genres it has and how each sub-genre has its own awesome interpretation and take on metal. Sure there are crap bands in each scene, but that goes for any genre. More importantly, there are plenty of amazing bands from each sub-genre. And I don’t except everyone to like every sub-genre of metal there is, or every metal band out there, but to be open minded enough to respect and accept other sub-genres.

I will never understand when people say “that’s not metal”, when clearly the band is, or “that’s fake/poser metal", There’s no such thing as fake metal. It’s either metal or it’s not. So yeah, that’s my opinion. Metal is metal.

Thank you for that unpopular opinion of yours. : D
I had no idea who they were but checked them out on youtube just now. For some reason (although I'm not into metall-riff based music normally) they totally work for me. The instrumental actually contrasts nicely with their idol image and voices. Also I think I have a girlcrush on all three of them now.
