Congratulations! I think BLAME is GACKT in disguise.

Kaleidoscope reacted to emmny in MH FEATURED POLL #28: Do you watch anime and/or read manga?
tragic mango + cyberpunk philosophical animu= life

Kaleidoscope reacted to Shmilly in Music and sex
Do I sound weird if I say... none? Sex for me is about doing something intimate with someone you have intimate feelings for, not jumping on top of the next moving object, thrusting to completion, and changing the playlist.

Kaleidoscope reacted to Bear in General KPOP Thread
That guy is annoying. One of the more punchable faces in the world at the moment.

Kaleidoscope reacted to Jun_ in After a long year, hi again, MH <3
Thanks, bro! I hope that too. Also, why we don't duet something? It would be really funny

Kaleidoscope reacted to saishuu in MH FEATURED POLL #23: What is your opinion on K-pop?
I was a heavy kpop fan from 2009-2011 (by the time DBSK released "Mirotic"), checking out every boy/girl group that would pop up in the scene. Ended up being immersed in it completely after more and more friends kept recommending me Korean music. What turned me off from it, besides the whole "fandom" stuff, was seeing how companies treat people and how Korean media as a whole deals with them (the "aegyo", the "ideal types", all those things). There's some hugely childish and prude behavior from everywhere and it gets old fast.
However, some of the music is actually pretty damn great, despite being sung by a bunch of teenagers most of the time, which is why i'm voting "I do like it from time to time" here. MBLAQ, SISTAR, Gain and SHINee, as well as some other things from the period I mentioned above, are still in regular rotation in my music playlists. If it sounds good, I don't see any problem in liking any of it. Korea has some good pop producers/composers.
You know what's truly embarassing? Modern VK fans having an elitist mindset towards people who like kpop when both things are essentially the same these days.

Kaleidoscope reacted to doombox in MH FEATURED POLL #23: What is your opinion on K-pop?
Only that's not correct at all. Kpop (in the current idol group sense) as it is, was not engineered in some back room. It started as a fluke that a group gained popularity (read up on Seo Taiji and the boys) and then companies emulated this success years later. And that fad has remained a staple of the Korean pop market. It did start organically like any other "scene", contrary to whatever you think you've heard.

Kaleidoscope reacted to CAT5 in MH FEATURED POLL #23: What is your opinion on K-pop?
I can understand it's appeal.
Having been exposed to a ton of it over the past 3 or so years thanks to sites like plug.dj and turntable.fm, I can say that a lot of it is fun and catchy. I think it's interesting that they've taken that whole pop-group aesthetic and managed to keep it appealing, since it's become mostly passé in the west. I also think it's cool that kpop producers seem to keep up with all the pop-music trends while drawing from several, older eras of pop music at the same time. It's a very, subtly unique blend of sounds, but I think it gives them a bit of edge up over a few other mainstream pop scenes.
With that said, I don't feel like there's enough substance in it for me to incorporate into my regular musical diet. I've also never been able to establish any significant emotional connections with the music. It can certainly be fun to indulge in at times, and the music videos are usually pretty entertaining, though.

Some really good stuff in here, especially enjoyed Asian Chairshot and Thornapple!

Kaleidoscope reacted to doombox in The Korean Indie Thread
Thanks for posting that Asian Chairshot video. I didn't realize they had a new release this month! I just happened to see it when I realized I didn't have the release with Mask Dance on it, and that was the song that turned me on to them in the first place. OTL Still, good tunes all around.

Kaleidoscope reacted to bonsaijodelfisch in The Korean Indie Thread
don't really know much of korean indie, but these guys peaked my interest...
they are in general more on the ballad-y side of things and thus often sound like an indie-rocked version of kpop, which is a beautiful thing
these on the other hand have a slightly mor rock/quirky/experimental vibe to them and thus remind very much of japanese indie, which obviously is nice aswell ^^

Kaleidoscope got a reaction from emmny in Closer To Ideal (New Band)
@emmny: Thanks a lot, so glad you liked it and even more glad you enjoyed my singing! Haha, was hoping D'espa fans would drop by, they will always be my biggest inspiration for music
Yeah, I kinda see what you mean with that - this one is pretty straightforward, so we will try to make the songwriting more interesting for the next few songs, thanks a lot for your feedback!

Kaleidoscope got a reaction from odrep in Closer To Ideal (New Band)
Hey guys, I'd like to introduce my newly formed band, Closer To Ideal! We draw inspiration from bands like D'espairsRay, girugamesh, lynch and ALSDEAD, but also several Metalcore and Power Metal bands. The other two band members of CTI are quite experienced, however, for me, this is my first proper band experience.
You can listen to our first song on YT and SoundCloud:

Kaleidoscope got a reaction from beni in Closer To Ideal (New Band)
Pretty mixed feedback it seems, thank you for the comments!
@ender-ender: Thanks a lot, glad you liked it Gonna work on more stuff and trying to improve!
@DogManX: Yeah, it is a demo and all done with home recording. Why shouldn't we pull it off though? We all recorded our instruments/vocals at home and put the whole thing together, apart from the drums there is nothing artificial. I respect your opinion, but I think you are being overly negative here - the screams have absolutely no effects on them apart from compression (which is standard for all vocals), the band name is a reference to a D'espairsRay song of the same name and I personally don't think my vocals are weak, whereas the last part is of course just my opinion. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, indeed we are just at the beginning and trying to improve!
@beni: Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it Screaming is actually not really my main style, but I'm very happy to hear that you like it that much! I'm in fact a classically trained singer (if you wanna hear something in that direction, check out this cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmBOBg5fA-o), however, this song is a bit on the higher end of my range, so my control is indeed lacking sometimes, I can see what you mean there. Gonna work on that for the next recordings, thanks a lot again!

Kaleidoscope got a reaction from togz in Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul OP) Cover -- Kaleidoscope's Vocal Covers
Hey guys, it's been a while! Since my old thread for my singing is really old, I decided to make this new one and share some of my more recent stuff with you.
I also made a new channel for Vocaloid and Anime covers, which somehow turned out to be more popular than my old channel Some examples:
Hope you enjoy!
