    LOL OMG :'DDDDDDDD

Cool covers! Looking forward to them! By the way, Flower of Life is more like a 'regular' album, while Tree of Life is more like a remix album (at least that's what SUGIZO said in his latest interview with JaME).

Death Proof Watched this movie for the second time, after a long while. Still one of my fave Tarantino movies, eventhough not many people seem to like it.

^ I've always wanted to check them out, but never really got around to it. They sound pretty good, thanks for recommending! Especially that intro was awesome - same harsh industrial stuff mixed with fuzzy VK feeling, cool! Now I'm gonna track down their stuff...

Band: BUCK-TICK Song: Sid Vicious ON THE BEACH Why?: Well I guess you could say this isn't exactly your typical B-T song, lol. First up, it has this laid-back but kinda old-school punk-rock vibe juxtaposed with modern electronics. Secondly, it's Imai (one of the guitarists) who's singing it for the most part. xD Plus, the live version always starts out with a kinda surf-y guitar solo that makes you feel like you're on the beach just chillin' out, then BAM! the song starts in similar high spirits. Imai's filtered and echoing vocals evoke a kinda drugged feeling, very spacey and zoned-out. The music just flows along fluidly with this feeling, exploding into a simplistic but effective group-singalong chorus. I love the heavy beats and base of the whole song too, it contrasts nicely with the guitars' and vocals' floaty atmosphere. Also, what I love about Imai is his voice: you can just tell that he's aware of his bad singing voice and doesn't give a crap about it, lol. That's why I'm disappointed most times I hear this song live, because they put a playback track on his vocals almost every time (at least on gigs filmed for DVDs)...oh well, it's good fun anyway. By the way, I like how B-T's love of Endo Michirou shines through a bit here, a line of the lyrics referencing one of his lyrics (B-T started out as a The Stalin cover band, so it's no big surprise).

YEEEAAAAH finally some great news!!! Looking forward to it! My guess is Valentine's Day too, lol.

Big Bang won 'Best Worldwide Act' at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Congrats to them! IKnlIQpBAos
  11. ^ Haha, I was almost about to ask what the new albums will be. Nice! Don't know any of these bands, so this should be interesting.
  12. Jigsaw9

Totally random, but I've just found an awesome set of live photos! Anyway, I guess it's kinda obvious now that their mini album won't come out in 2011 as they planned. Hopefully in 2012 then! I'm dyyying~ to hear some new music from them! Oh, another random bit: according to a recent setlist, apart from the already listed new songs they played another new one titled ラブバラード (Love Ballad).
  13. Listening to The Prodigy album now. Ever since I was a kid/young teenager they have fascinated me with their strange videos on MTV, yet I never really listened to any of their stuff for a long long time, since my interest was strongly in metal/rock/punk in my teens. Then a few years ago I listened to their albums, now with a musically more open mind (which was triggered by visual kei/J-rock but I'm getting kinda off-topic here xD), and concluded that they're pretty good. However by now I forgot most of how this album sounded, so I decided to have a re-listen. I remembered this record as one of their trademark '90s albums, along with The Fat of the Land. I'm not really into electronic music, I'm very picky in that area, so this album is kinda shaky territory for me: there are parts that I love, and parts that make me feel bored. I've always been a "music with vocals, and not purely instrumental"-guy, so that's another hindrance. I expected the record to begin more excitedly, or I don't know. It isn't really that strong/effective how I remembered The Prodigy (now that I think back, I only remember liking The Fat of the Land and Invaders Must Die albums). Thankfully with Voodoo People things begin to get more interesting towards the middle of the album. However, the whole thing feels a bit dated or uninteresing to me. I think the song lengths have to do with this greatly too: I mean, the album is like almost 80 minutes long. xD I felt like skipping every 4 minutes. So in conclusion, the album has some good moments in lots of songs (highlights: Voodoo People, No Good), but had me urging to skip very often. I guess this style of music isn't really for me, or I really have to find a special mood for it - there are some Prodigy stuff that I really love too, after all...then again, those albums have lots of vocals too. All in all, Music for the Jilted Generation had some nice bits but I think I'll just stick to The Fat of the Land and Invaders Must Die.

    ^ Nice one, thx!
  15. Jigsaw9

Yeah, I hope we're getting some album/single-related info too, soon... it's been too damn long a wait. xD
  16. Jigsaw9

Yeah, that would be cool. Honestly I don't really care for its original version, but I'm curious how it sounds in their current style.
  17. Jigsaw9

^ I don't think it's that simple. I bet tons of bands in the old days went for that attitude too, we couldn't know that anyway. But speaking of roots and samey trends, that feature has been there all along too: the old bands emulated the '80s post-punk, new wave and heavy metal groups they listened to, and the bands nowadays emulate the modern-rock, nu-metal and metalcore groups they listen to. It's another thing that which one's closer to someone's taste, or how much originality the bands put into their work/sound though...

I'm curious if there will be any changes for the US setlists. I'm a little bummed that we Europeans didn't get to hear Mazochyst or the newly added DSS songs - oh well, at least we got some surprise tracks (Mr.Newsman!!). LOL, Toshiya must've been pissed about his equipment malfunctioning on 11/03.
  19. I listened to the Astrud Gilberto album a couple of times now, it was nice! Honestly I didn't know what to expect - I hardly have any notion of bossa nova, save for a few stylistic nods in some Malice Mizer songs, lol. But I kinda imagined the music to be something like this. It has a nice light floaty feeling. Her voice adds to this quality, the whole music sounds smooth and just plain comfy. When the first song began it felt like something even David Lynch would put into one of his movies. That set the mood nicely for me. I like that the album is short - while I enjoyed the music, I think this is the exact amount that I can listen to, without feeling disinterested. All in all, it was a very pleasant listening experience. Will spin this album in the future too. I think I'll review The Prodigy tomorrow, when I refreshed my experience with their album.
  20. I'm hearing a heavy Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas influence in here, lol (but probably just coincidental).
  21. Jigsaw9

^ Wow, really nice song! Their singles keep getting better and better it seems.
  22. Jigsaw9

8nM-aHjWjoM Not really feeling the song, but pretty good MV.
  23. Jigsaw9

^ Agreed, on all those points. X X X was pretty okay, can't remember the rest though.
  24. Jigsaw9

I don't think music is dying and stuff... it's just that people's taste, the distribution of music, and thus music itself have changed. We only perceive older music to be better because that was what we were listening to while growing up (or if we were not listening to it, but discovering it just now, it's still that era/sound that we loved). As Lemmy from Motörhead said, "the best music you'll ever listen to is stuff from your childhood/teenage years" (or something along those lines). Of course this can vary from person to person, but I can really see this general tendency. With that said, I too am in that mindset, older/past music really sounded better to my tastes. But of course there's a good number of amazing newer bands/artists too, we just have to find them under that heavy pile of crap bands.
  25. Jigsaw9

LOL, this. Anyway, out of the linked bands Levia seems pretty okay. MARIO†CHILD is just ridiculous though: do all their songs sound like this? I mean, vocals and some cheap-ass MIDI? xDDD
