While I pretty much agree with everything already said, one major thing I think is getting over looked - do the kids even know what the fuck a forum is?

That's a bit extreme, but it's hardly an exaggeration to say that social media has mostly killed off forums in general. Back in the early days of MH/TW, and hell, even before it, forums were -the- way to have an online community for a specific thing. Social media has largely changed that, for better or worse. Honestly, the fact that MH is still around given how forums have mostly died off is kind of amazing to me.

Even if interest in VK and Jrock abroad had never decided, I still think forum usage would have a steep drop off.  And we're no where near that peak interest. I truly think Kpop had taken the mindshare that VK used to hold. I'm not talking for hardcore fans, but for all the casuals. I'll not going to get in to it deep here, but I know at Anime cons every Jrock vendor has been replaced by Kpop ones.

To be totally frank, I expect MH to die some day. The fact that this place has lasted a decade blows me away. But with the current trajectory of VK and the internet, I just don't see this place lasting another decade. And that's ok. While the idea bums me the fuck out, when this place does burn out, that doesn't erase everything that has happened here. All of that said, I'm not wishing the end comes any time soon and I hope that some day we can be celebrating the forum's 20th anniversary.

@Biopanda Honestly, I really don't think that drive is bad. Perhaps I biased as I spent like 3 years where my commute to work was an hour one way lol. To me I feel like the main question is "is it really worth paying for $45 for a badge to just see a band." If you are planning on doing other things at the con or you really love ACME, I would say yeah. But otherwise, nah. I haven't been personally in several years to Anime Milwaukee (it's usually the same weekend as Katsucon, which is waaay better, but I am not going this year to save $$$), but my wife and friends have, and they will tell you it's a very average midsized con.

You guys are killing me. The entire reason I want to be in Colorado is because the mountains and the snow.

I still need to listen to ACME's new album. I've listened to a couple singles and mildly enjoyed them.

@YuyoDrift Oh I totally agree. I live in Milwaukee and I was on the fence about going to the con, so this just pushed it fully in to the "going" category. Also, when did you move to CO? I'm mildly jealous.

I would read too much in to that number. For example, the forum is over 10 years old now, but the creation date on my account is marked as January 18, 2013.

Spike760 and I created the forum together a long as time ago. A lot happened between then and now, including a decent amount of drama that can't be recapped quickly, but also Spike eventually grew out of his interest for Jrock.

Tbh, I don't really do any video work so I have a hard time recommending anything since though the are similar, obviously there are different things that you want from video than for photo. That said, either way £70 isn't going to get you much of anything. I'm not trying to be a downer, but man, even looking at like fairly old used gear you aren't going to get much for that. The -cheapest- I could find on ebay for a t2i (a 7 year old Canon camera) with a lens was $200.

I mean, hide was in Save Tiger before X, so yeah lol.
