Dir En Grey post DSS in my opinion does NOT sound like American music. 
 
There’s a strong difference between Influence and Copying. If anything, TMOAB is more “American”. Hell, that album came right after the FV Tour and they toured with lots of American bands.
 
The whole “this is too american” argument is stupid and I wish people would stop saying that. I’m fine with people saying it’s influenced by American music, but to say it outright ripsoff or copies it is totally false.
 
Also here’s my unpopular opinion, everything Post DSS isn’t that bad, and both the TIW and Arche are solid 8/10s at best.

honestly i couldn’t get into sukekiyo at all, even from the beginning.  it sounds like some weird shit kyo would attach his name to and kinda reminds me of those two lil singles or whatever he put out w his respective poem books.  i didn’t like either of those on the same note.  i wonder if diru will disband in the next 5 years or if they’ll keep going and become sort of a nuisance cuz i can already see it kinda happening.

I agree that Sukekiyo and Dir both fell off. But to pinpoint the source of both declines on Kyo is giving that nigga WAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much credit, especially since Kaoru still writes a majority of Dir’s stuff with some needed inclusion from everyone else. And it’s no secret now that Kyo’s mindset and main focus is solely on Sukekiyo, which is composed of an entirely different set of musicians. I severely doubt he has that much influence on both bands.
 
Them sounding similar is a reach. I normally refrain from saying this about ppls opinions but even with my gripes with both bands, I gotta straight up say that’s just not true. Kyo sounding more or less the same on both? Yes.
 
Dir en grey as a unit is running on fumes. The evidence lies In everything post DSS. 
 
Sukekiyo....Lately is just really trying to be this super abstract band based off of the history of the individual members, and in return is making music that makes my head hurt. Post VITIUM Sukekiyo is damn near unlistenable. 

honestly, speaking as someone who's got shoegaze in his personal top 5 genres i'm gonna have to agree that a lot of it is derivative as all hell (even more so than vk & that's saying something). i don't really fuck w/ the super sugary sweet side of things all that much myself either.
 
i guess liking the genre or not generally comes down to whether you're more into melody or more into texture, and on how you feel about bands cranking the distortion and fuzz up to maximum overdrive more than half the time

8P-SB is literally better than all Kpop. Jesus Christ the Korean music industry dove into the ocean since the days of SE7EN and Rain in their prime. G-Dragon needs to be like Jesus and revive BIG BANG and save the industry from whatever the hell it's morphing into. 

Kyo wishes he had the money and success of Kisaki so he could just disappear and be alone like the hermit he truly wants to be and go and live on an island like Juka or just disappear to South America like Klaha.

Sukekiyo ruined DIR EN GREY for me as it was just too much Kyo at that point, they are just too similar, I can't stand Sukekiyo which is a shame because I was in for immortalis, but after that it just became a pretentious vanity project and DIR EN GREY suffered and went down hill for it. All Diru since Dum Spiro Spero and Sukekiyo since Immortalis has been fucking awful. It's a shame that I've come to dislike what was my first VK that I worshipped in my teens has been an utter disappointment for nearly a decade and I don't see that changing anytime soon. It's probably time to disband at this point and start coming back every five years. On a side note, I actually have enjoyed what little Seraph and DECAYS have put out. Honestly things started going down hill with Uroboros then fell off of a God damned cliff.

Completely unrelated to K-pop, but I don't give a shite about anything to do with the MCU except for Guardians Of The Galaxy (and even then, I only ever got around to seeing the first one). It's not that I have anything against it and I'm sure that if I saw more, I'd enjoy it; I just don't really care.

You know, you're right XD I tried to think of a truły fresh and original concept a boy group's had in the past few years and I can't. Unless you count Big Bang I suppose, but they just don't give a fuck anymore  And even they just dial up the bad boy concept to eleven and call it a day.
 
It then put me on a trip down memory lane to the good ol' DBSK beginnings when their concept was closer to VK than western pop lol I mean 
 
 
 
I feel like these days the whole industry is too focused on uniform mass appeal, ideally they want to succeed in Korea, Japan and in the West all at once and what comes out is a big pile of bland sameness. 
 
Which I feel is the polar opposite to the VK scene, it being so insular~ not that bland sameness is not and issue, but you certainly can't say it holds grand mass appeal and aspirations for expansion X'D
 
 

tbh kpop girl groups are far more interesting than boy groups.  girl groups seem to get more concept ideas and have better music overall.  i honestly don’t understand why boy groups are more popular since they p much just recycle the same 4 concepts for p much every release.  most of them sound p similar to me, too.
