YESSS!!! Nice to see Waka from MiLK/Emu. back in action. The vocals are superb as well. (Kinda reminds me of Kouki from D=OUT)

It feels like forever being absent from the forum... (even though I've been lurking/anonymously fulfilling requests on VS3 [seems like there's been a slump recently])

Nevertheless, while college has been a pain-in-the-ass (with periods of procrastination/indecision/table-flipping/etc.) I've still been pretty loyal to Visual Kei in general.
(even though my favorites are ALWAYS disappearing with the unrelenting "disband" curse of 20XX). 
As I'm getting closer to graduating, my classes have eased up a bit (screw general courses) .
So, while I probably can't be here 100%, I'll try to provide where I can in releases and not-so-groundbreaking commentary.

I should also change my username to "colorfuljinsei" since I may or may not have re-named many of my accounts under such o_o. How do you do that again?

Artist: girugamesh EP: Gravitation Score: After a few years of borderline radio-friendly stagnation, Girugamesh have hit back with quite possibly their best release yet.
After a few years of borderline radio-friendly stagnation, Girugamesh have hit back with quite possibly their best release yet. Last year's Monster symbolised a beacon of hope for both fans and the band. The aggression was back, the heaviness was back, Girugamesh was back. Although steeped in pop-sensibilities at times, the album took a 180 from pop to electronic metalcore, leaving the burning wrecks of Now and Go far behind.

It's been a year since their last full-length Monster, and Gravitation not only keeps this reclaimed heaviness in place but polishes it to perfection. Kicking off with their hardest song to date, 'Go Ahead' lures you in with gentle tones before ripping your head off. Satoshi's transition from gentle crooning to terrifying growls, for example, are nothing short of frisson worthy. Having the rawest vocals, the hardest breakdown, and the most memorable chorus, this song characterises the EP and spearheads their new sound. As a song that can only be described with superlatives, 'Go Ahead' highlights how Gravitation has led the band to a new level of heaviness. This permeates throughout the EP. While 'Reflection' displays a hard metalcore influence, for instance, 'Vortex' goes beyond that, opting for a thrashy deathcore vibe; a massive departure from Go in many respects.

I thought it would let up at some point but the whole EP is like this; every time a lull in the intensity is expected, it continues its bombardment of chunky riffs and pleasantly incessant drumming. This is exemplified best in 'Reflection' where Satoshi tries to do some severe damage to his throat...in the best possible way. They could have included a slower, gentler track to give the listener a breather, but instead they opted for five heavy songs varying in loudness and intensity. The infectious electronic elements and catchy vocals which have characterised their more recent efforts are used to full effect here, modernising their previous sound and making each track as memorable as the last. All of these elements culminate in 'Vortex' which, replete with screams, riff-heavy guitar work and double-bass pedaling, is the best way to end Gravitation: in the same loud and exciting way in which it started, exuding a confidence not found on their older material. This is the Girugamesh we wanted after Music and the band sure as hell knows it.
 
By cramming everything their fans love about them into one neat package, Girugamesh has created their best effort yet. Contrary to more recent releases, the intensity and loudness of their old sound is back and better than ever. While taking a new form reflective of some current "-core" genres, classic Girugamesh permeates to the point where they might win their older fanbase back.

Upon listening to Gravitation it's clear that Girugamesh are back and louder, heavier and better than ever!

Single Title: In The Sunlight

A new band shining sunlight for everyone to see!

 

Now I would like to start this by saying that I have truly become a massive fan of this band and I really love most of everything they have released, in fact I was curious if anyone knew the member's of this band's previous band's so I could hear what they sounded like previously.

 

 

Track number one out this two song live distributed release is the title track called In The Sunlight, this song is very beautiful and unexpected, the song start's with some nice and somber piano, acoustic guitar and what sound's like slight maraca work in the back round, then the lead singer's voice kick's in and it just work's for me! His voice sound's so nice, it sound's like he is right in front of me and staring me in the eyes, he start's with some very nice vocal's at a softer tone then goes into some very pretty falsetto note's. Then the drum's start and the whole song just come's together, the chorus is very good it get's stuck in my head for hour's, the second half of the song is where everything ties together and is executed very well. Toward's the end of the song the pace is changed and there is a moment where everything fade's out except for the lead vocal's and some piano, here is where the vocalist hit's gorgeous note's then the chorus is repeated for the third then fourth time but it does not feel repetitive nor tiring, it's just right!

 

 In the sunlight's pros: Amazing vocal work, very nice piano work, great guitar work to keep it pleasant to listen to, the drum work is also nice and rather playful

 

 In The Sunlight's cons: I couldn't really hear bass work, that was disappointing, beside's that I loved the single!

 

  Track number two is Namida No Utagoe, now this song kind of follow's the same pattern as In The Sunlight but it is allot more fast paced and has some distinguishing feature's such as the clapping along with the piano in the beginning and throughout a couple of verses. This song features allot more fast paced and energetic drumming and vocal work than the single, also you can hear more bass work throughout the song! The piano work is very nice in this song just as in the single and it seem's to just fit in, the piano never feel's like it was forced in, like in plenty of other visual kei releases. The guitar solo in this song is perfect, it doesn't detract from the energy nor feel boastful, there is also acoustic guitar throughout the entire song. Now the number one thing that makes this song great is the vocal performance! Kou the vocalist was on his best for this release, he didn't miss a beat, his voice was just so gorgeous throughout both song's that he amazed me! This song was so good I wish it was the single but either way they both were great!

 

 Namida No Utagoe's pros: Very nice use of piano and clapping to give a very fun feeling to the song, high energy throughout the whole song, guitar work that didn't bore me, pretty nice and playful drum work that helped keep up the energy throughout the song, top notch vocal performance yet again by Kou!

 

 Namida No Utagoe's cons: The bass still didn't feel very present, there were moment's where you could hear it but it wasn't very noticeable, other than that there isn't much wrong with this release!

 

  Summary: This single definitely shined some light into my life and made me smile! In The Sunlight is a great release and I would recommend it to anyone! Give it a listen, it's on their youtube channel!
