This footage is from Berseria's demo (now available on Japanese PSN)
They SOMEHOW managed to fuck up the battles even worse than Zestiria's camera issues. Hopefully this is fixed in the full game...

...aside from this hilarious mess, I've seen mostly positive impressions of the combat and characters (along with complaints about the graphics looking exactly like Zestiria but with better framerate). That hoverboard thing looks cool. I'll try out the demo during the weekend.

    EDIT

Had a block of spare time so I played the demo just now.
Didn't manage to get a glitchy battle stage like in the video.
I'm actually rather impressed. The characters seem amusing, so far. I actually LOL'ed once. Battles and exploration seem way more fun than Zestiria. Skits are more dynamic than before (more like a comic, where it frequently swaps to different "panels") and it really adds life to them. The hoverboard thing is super cool, you seamlessly jump on/off it by holding down/releasing R2, and it's such a relief to be able to zoom around quickly after the Windstepping BS in Zestiria. The game seems to look a lot nicer than Zestiria probably due to the 60fps.

I MIGHT ACTUALLY drop the cash to get this day one...

Ofc that Jay-Z song is a classic lol and I like Golden Bomber... I know of Nocturnal Bloodlust but I'm not really into 'em.  I checked out the ACO video you posted though, just because I might as well, right? XD  Pretty chill stuff. I can dig it.

    Dirty Old Men - "残した君の夕影"
OBLIVION DUST - "Girlie Boy Imitation #6"
Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - "We R Who We R" (Kesha Cover)
    BAELSCOPE - "Sacrifice"
Sleeping With Sirens - "Scene Five - With Ears To See and Eyes To Hear"
2PM - "Only You (Winter Special)"
    FACT - "ape"
But by Fall - "Heart Stop"
    雨のパレード - "Noctiluca"
    BUCK-TICK - "COSMOS"

Holy carp, this was a really good mix for me. It's really hard to pick with so many favorite artists in one list! I guess FACT win by a hair, but if it had been a different song from a couple of other artists they would have been edged out!

^ The only band I ever even HEARD of is THE BACK HORN. I remember checking them out when I was first getting into Japanese music. Can't say I liked them very much, haha.
I listened to that LOW-PASS song on Youtube, sounds pretty cool but I really prefer music with vocals.

Here's my shuffle (using my ENTIRE iTunes library)

01 NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST - Rise above
02 ACO - 真正ロマンティシスト (Shinsei Romanticist)
    03 ゴールデンボンバー (Golden Bomber) - Please!×3
04 中島卓偉 (Nakajima Takui) - さらけだす (Sarakedasu)
    05 JASMINE - #AGARU
06 ALI PROJECT - LOST CHILD
07 畠山美由紀 (Hatakeyama Miyuki) - Dream a little dream of me
    08 Jay-Z - Streets is Watching
    09 己龍 (Kiryu) - 蹲 (Tsukubai)
10 三浦大知 (Miura Daichi) - Super Star

Man, this is a pretty tough call. I SUUUPER love those 3 highlighted songs. It's a surprisingly good mix, considering it was shuffling ~20000 songs...
(lol @ surprise 90s Jay-Z appearing in between all the Japanese stuff)
Ended up disqualifying JASMINE because of her usage of a hashtag in the title T_T but it's a really good pop/dance song.
Tsukubai is one of my all-time fave Kiryu songs, but Kiryu is really popular in this forum so I went with the one people would be less familiar with... ACO.

I LOVE this period of ACO's career. Her genres went like.. pop/soul -> trip-hop -> Bjorkish -> mellow stuff? adult contemporary? acoustic pop? i dunno
Shinsei Romanticist is from the trip-hop period, and is one of the best examples of her ethereal voice and wide range.

Language > Artist > [Release Date] Album Name > [Track #] Song Name

    for example
    Japanese > 12012 > [2009.03.11] mar maroon > 01 THE WORLD.mp3

"Language" pertains more to the place of origin than the actual language in the lyrics. Like, a Japanese artist that only sings in English would still be in the Japanese folder. Any Western artist gets thrown into the English folder.

    tl;dr
It is similar to how words like bad, sick, or wicked have a positive connotation in modern slang usage. But in the case of terrific, it happened in the late 1800s and the "slang" meaning eventually became the default definition. If you read older literature you can still see original uses of the word, such as "a terrific headache" or "a terrific roar".

Yeah I know that's why I'm excited for it, there was tons of gameplay demos during E3 for it that showed what it really was. If somebody had the wrong idea about the game then that's there fault for not actually delving deeper than a trailer. Most people I've seen with negative opinions are people who had the wrong idea about the game and people who don't like survival indie games.... so yeah big surprise there.

The game looks awesome though, and there's a lot about it that's pretty unique. I'm excited for it, I hope I can get access to the beta sometime before release. What interests me the most is the procedural generated stuff they were talking about and the setting for the world... like what the fuck is going on and why is shit so messed up?

Haha, that's not likely... the only other music forum I ever joined/read/posted in was Kyo Music City, and that was primarily a download site.
I don't remember where I learned about Port of Notes/Miyuki and EGO-WRAPPIN'.. when I was getting into Japanese music I found a couple of small websites by J music fans dedicated to their favourite music. Those two might've been mentioned in one of those websites.

... oh actually, I used to chat a lot in a Soulseek chat room, got quite a few recommendations from people in there... not sure how I forgot that, lol

I found Mayumi when I saw this Nintendo commercial on TV. Though it took me a long time to figure out who the artist was.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I don't know why I never responded to your post! Everything you posted is fine. I'm far from being some kind of jazz elitist, so this thread is for pretty much any flavor of jazz - pop or otherwise!

EGO-WRAPPIN' is one of my all-time favorite Japanese bands. So glad to see more love for them! Kojima Mayumi is freaking fantastic, and was just telling @beni the other day how stunning Miyuki Hatakeyama's voice is! Bless you! I swear from the things you've posted that I've probably seen you around some jpop forum back in the day!

Nobuchika Eri's first album was so good too. Shame that Japan's mainstream never really took the whole modern house sound. Their house/crossover scene seems pretty nonexistent these days from what I can tell - I'm probably just not in the loop anymore, though.

Also I came here to post this because ahhhhhhhhhh I love Nikaido Kazumi, and this is such a great collab! She's always so infectiously cheerful and buoyant (and talented), how can you NOT like her!?!?

idgaf even if trombe hacked my bandomen sama's tsunagari's line accounts to get news, nothing he did is exceptional considering he's probably devoted most of his spare time to looking up obscure news no one gives a flying fuck about, and if you think he does it for the community, you're entirely deluded. trombe never gave a fuck about any of you or news, he did what he did to prove that he was good at breaking news and he enjoyed his rank as a result of that. once his power was taken away, he was visibly upset. never once was he co-operative with staff in letting others post news. think of a child who has a skill that they can do very well, they'll do all in their power to show their skill to anyone who pays attention--once they find someone who does what they can do but better, they'll either adjust their skillset to improve or just stop. and god forbid someone tells the child their skill isn't appreciated anymore--they'll freak the fuck out. i hate to go all creepy psychology on you, but this is the mental complex of someone who literally scours the web for obscure news and tries to oppress all others who stop him. this is why he would bitch biweekly about news that no one commented on, because there wasn't any altruistic intent. he needed attention, and if he didn't get it he'd threaten to leave. that resulted in the ass kissers on here rubbing his ego, and he probably looked at those posts, giggled in some creepy room full of computers, and continued to go on tapping bandomen manager's phones to find info about a session that maybe 4 japanese girls would ever care to attend

I don't think anyone has ever doubted your contributions to the community and I'm sure everyone appreciates your service. But honestly, you SHOULD leave. I'm not saying this out of spite or anything, but given the situation, I think it's the best logical route.  Having been a staff member myself for many years, I can vouch that the current staff are super lenient. I mean, you REALLY have to go out of your way to receive a ban of any kind. Hell, I know from personal experience that you're not very cooperative or even easy to get in touch with/establish some kind of communication with.

But whatever the case, you clearly have different ideas about how things should work here. And as welcome as you are on MH, you can't just go into someone else's home and do whatever you please. It doesn't work that way.  So instead of continually antagonizing the head of the house and ignoring all attempts to compromise, just "move out". Get your own. Make a blog. Build your own site or forum and run it however you like. I think that's a much saner option than sticking around and being a nuisance.

I was too late to respond to you, @peffy, but Kingdoms of Amalur is a lot of fun. Combat is absolutely top notch, and there's so much to do in the game, it can even be quite overwhelming sometimes. Certainly worth the money and time though. I suggest you play it after Okami since that's my pick. I actually picked up Okami on the Wii not too long ago. Only played a bit of it, but there's no way you can't love how it looks.

Made a habit of posting in the VN thread since I'm on a VN binge atm so I'll take this moment to respond here on what I'm up to as well. Coming to the end of 999, which sucks since I zoomed though it, but my full attention is on Amnesia: Memories for now. It wasn't what I expected, as the routes are selected right at the start of the game. It's made me realize I prefer the usual VN gamestyle. Characters didn't leave a good first impression on me, but by the end of it, their traits got the best of me. Only completed Shin's path, since I thought he was the most official (apart from that secret fifth guy). He's really grown on me and now, picking a different guy and not him makes me feel bad and upset. Didn't think I could actually like them like this. I did not ask for this!

Picked up my DS to play a bit of Pokemon White too, thanks to @CAT5. I didn't even finish SoulSilver, and not even halfway in White. Did only a bit of Pokemon Go too yesterday as it somehow started to work for me when I accidently updated Google Maps, woohoo~ Apart from a few PS3 games being touched too, like Reckoning, I'm mostly doing VN hunting. /o/

Like @YuyoDrift said Okami is one of the best games to come out in the past 10 years, definitely worth a play if you've never experienced it.

I would personally urge you to play Divinity: Original Sin as it's probably the single best CRPG in over a decade and many people consider it the game that saved/ is saving the genre in modern times. A really great role playing game that has a lot of personality and great things going on and still holds onto the genre's roots. Also I don't know if this is a factor for you but it has co-op as well, which is always fun

an extra pick would be Batman Arkham Asylum, as it's the best superhero game ever released. and if you are a batman fan then it's pretty much a must play that should not be ignored.
