@Gaz, okay, let me ask you something. Does being nice mean pretending to you? I mean, heck, that's my natural reaction to everyone I ever meet but oh well, whatever floats your boat. If you like to hate everyone you see on the street then go for it.

Next, I'm gonna quote Ghandi: "Eye for an eye will leave everyone blind." So no, I didn't tell you to become friends with the person who bullies you. THAT would definitely be pretending. But also, revenge is not the option either. "I hate you because you hate me" is comparable to children playing on the playground and for no reason one child comes up and hits another one in the head with a shovel. Would you instruct the victim to hit back? I wouldn't. That'll just end up in both having their head open and one finger missing. Even the stupidest child will stop hitting after he notices that nothing happens. And eventually get really frustrated about nothing happening. And probably get grounded for hitting another child. In the end - yes., the victim was hit with a shovel, but he was the one who won the fight.

Uhh... what? So... when someone bullies you and you still keep acting nice to them, they'll feel shit about themselves because they actually think you like them and FOR SOME REASON THEY'RE CONCERNED?

No, they don't give a shit whether you like them or not. You can pretend you're a fucking unicorn for what they care.

But, if you make yourself appear stronger, independent and self-confident, like "No matter what you say to me or think of me, I'm not gonna care, but just keep smiling to you when we meet, as if you were a nice-looking house plant." That's a fucking emotional pwnage right there. Why would anyone bother bullying something, that isn't moved by the bullying in any way? That's like bullying a mountain.

My point is to say: Being nice to your enemies is not pretending. It's like you never heard what they said about you. Their words are not even that important.

In the end I think it's just each an individual's attraction of its own. Perhaps I myself, as a woman, am more attracted to elegantly shaped men to a near androgenous state, with wide hips and slender torso's without excessively showing muscle-mass, because I don't have the slightest desire to bear children now, or in the future, which is perhaps why I don't seek men with broad shoulders, muscular arms or a square jaw. For me it's just unattractive.

It's clear who the guy on the left side of the picture is to UCP's followers (colour scheme and tattoos).

And I am pretty sick of how Jin is being used as some sort of scapegoat again — if you don't like him in the first place, why bother coming in this topic and commenting on how terrible you find him?

Either way. I am absolutely stoked for this, it's much much better than what I had anticipated for any new bands arising from the UCP graveyard. I really can't wait to hear the full thing.

Jin has an unique voice, and most VK fans don't seem to like unique voices nowadays.

The criticism he receives is ridiculous, really, having read that last entry on his blog back then about how he thought himself to be a horrible vocalist, and that he let his fans down, it was just terrible to know he'd allow himself to be driven that far up the walls by a group of cunts who, instead of appreciating music, can only criticize it.

I thought because of that he was the last one to come back with a new band because of how deep people have buried him, but I'm honestly glad he's back because he is an awesome person with great charisma, and a musician with a tremendous insight in music.

My Mom just listens to Dutch folk singers that aren't worth mentioning at all.
My Dad had a better influence on me, however, but that didn't amplify until my parents divorced and I got both a stepdad- and mom who are suckers for classic rock and basically everything of the heavier side. Suddenly our surround system was filled with Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Metallica, Rammstein, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, and all that sort of stuff. Actually I got influenced by them more than my real parents which is rather funny.

Phantasmagoria's 神歌 (Kami Uta) is —despite Kisaki once having stated he absolutely didn't want it to become their anthem song, preferably had he chosen 未完成とギルト or Material Pain— their anthem song, or so I think so. It's most definitely way down on my list of favourites or not included in that list at all. Personally I hold a grudge against tracks with a continuous theme of lyrics or riffs that go on endlessly and endlessly and that is exactly what 神歌 is especially when it was performed during a live for a duration of at least fifteen minutes straight. There's hardly any variety and at some point I just grew tired of Riku's squealing here.

The only thing I basically like about the track is the overuse of synthesizers (Kisaki trademark, one of his best points, in my opinion, no matter what other people say about it) as it gives it a little more depth. Guitars are messy, lots of pinches/squeals, just— no.

It's not your music, anyway. You didn't write it, or have any credits whatsoever. You're just a fortunate person with enough money to buy the CD or DVD from your favourite artist, and then stick their CD in their computer and click a few buttons on their iTunes to rip the music to the library. Or at least, that's my opinion. I'm usually too slow to upload, also most things I buy are either old or of musicians that got a pretty solid fanbase so everything gets shared almost the instant someone gets it. It happens inevitably that no matter when someone password blocks their files, there is someone sneaky enough to reupload the file somewhere else anyway so everyone has easy access to it.

I wouldn't really care if someone reposted/reuploaded my rips without credit, since it's not I who they should credit in the first place. It's the musician.

I think it's somewhat of common sense among VK fans that anything rooting back to UCP is automatically categorized as a milking process by Kisaki. I think it's normal for a band to have a last release, whether they be DVD's, CD's or a boxset of everything included. UCP's bands just all happened to disband, so you're going to get a final release from all of them, naturally.

Music always remains as an opinion, though. I don't think any band can be rendered as a bad band because there will always be someone who likes them. I think the talent lies in effort, bonding and striving for a goal to be achieved. It's not so much about the quality of the music itself but the people who make it live.

Even if lyrics are translated properly, they still cannot bring forward a message that the lyricist might have meant originally. Japanese and English are interpreted in complete different ways, and in my eyes it almost impossible to transfer the exact meaning.

What I meant to say about not specifically classifying those bands as VK alone, is how they (in that time of 80's and 90's) weren't labeled as your typical Japanese nutbags just trying to be over the top about everything. It was normal at that time, look at KISS, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister... These guys fitted right in and their music reached out further than Japan itself and didn't only reach the distinguished fan of Japanese music at that time. X JAPAN, Loudness, they were being pushed right in to the glam rock label of that time and as this trademark died with the grunge era, the entire experience around it changed as well.

And well, the fanservice thing: it's been evident ever since Hakuei's thighs haha, but it wasn't a necessity to most people in those days. The job of being a fan changed a lot over the years, I am sure. As did the audience. I bet had you stood in a Penicillin crowd twenty years ago, the majority of the audience was male, because metal/rock used to attract a nearly strictly male audience rather than it did a female audience because of its toughness. When you look at it now, step in to a Japanese crowd of people at a VK concert, most are female. And it's not to create a negative image but I think it's safe to say that a lot of 'fans' these days do indeed only care about the 'Visual' simply because they are used to judging on looks.

Just because I didn't live through these years as an avid music fan as I am now, doesn't mean I haven't studied music of all sorts of genres for myself for the past ten years. My preferences range from the 50's up until these days and in a few years time I have seen and come to know a lot about music and the way it works. I've been to over 200 concerts, lived a few years fully high on moshpits and thrashing my way through every sub-label of metal you can think of. So yes, I think I have somewhat of an idea of how different the music scene was thirty years back from now and that 'specifications' didn't really matter to the eye.

-Also, sorry for offtopic, I tend to write a lot.

I think with your general pricing of Japanese merchandise, ¥500 is fairly reasonable. You often pay about ¥2200 for a single including three songs. That's over ¥700 for one song. If you start picking at every single thing in the Japanese music industry you aren't done yet in five years.

What other merchandise other than t-shirts and mugs do you see from your average American band that isn't milked like huge sellers like KISS or the Rolling Stones? Shouldn't you be more grateful that there actually is something to collect for collectors? It's not like they have numbers and come in packages, but having a collection of cheki is indeed valuable to most people. See it as collecting baseball cards; technically there's nothing interesting about information you already know printed on a small card with a picture of an old man on it, but these things sold like crazy and the market was an insanely well-working business.

That's the same for cheki. Bands need to make a profit. And if you weren't aware yet; an actual business, if you do it right, is to slowly milk people of their money with smart marketing by bringing products on sale that people are interested in. That is business.
