I don't have anything against it, good music is good music no matter who wrote and who performed it. But I do think it's pretty pathetic to use ghost writers and take the cred as writers. Just give the actual writers the cred they deserve for fuck sake.

Well, I must respectfully disagree on a couple of points.
These "small bands" you've described comprise people who are passionate about music and taking it up as a hobby. I don't think it's fair to compare them to people whose very livelihood depends on music. Obviously, if someone simply wants to write music as a hobby, there's always youtube (or niconico in the Japanese context). On the other hand, I would say it's more than justifiable for someone who's in a band full-time to care about money. I mean, it's their job that's at stake: why would they not care? Whether they are good enough - and, in the case that they aren't, aware of that fact - is a separate issue.
You've also suggested that we ought to do things for the "right" reason, and I assume you're alluding to following one's passion/interest. What you've envisioned might be true in an ideal world, in which everyone does what he/she wants to do and any monetary concern is inconsequential. If this were actually the case in reality, no one around us would be working, and parents today won't be pressurizing their children into doing law or medicine over, say, philosophy. The very fact that these things happen all the time points to how we (consciously or otherwise) realize that even if we ought not prioritize money over everything else, money nevertheless remains the condition of the possibility of doing anything at all.
For this reason, I feel there aren't any "right" or "wrong" reasons to be in the scene. If we take this model of value judgment too seriously, I'm afraid an overwhelming majority of musicians with any sort of staying power are in it for the "wrong" reason. Clearly I'll be deeply relieved if I were to find that vistlip isn't making music "just for money"; still, the fact of the matter is that ultimately the band's success or failure is not going to be contingent on the reasons that have initially motivated someone to be in a band, or how moral these motivations might be, but how good/attractive (and lucky) the band is. If taking up a job (which is what these people are actually doing) for money is "wrong," I don't even know what's "right" anymore.
(And as a final aside, there's of course a great deal of stoicism to be in an indies vk band and making a loss everyday, which in most cases triggers a gush of pride in the outside observer looking in at these people. The hypocrisy, of course, is that the outsider probably won't want to be in the shoes of the very people he's mythologizing.)

Though as a trio they are completely fine, I think they should get at least a new guitarist, I really think bands sound better with two guitarists than with one. As for bassists, Yo-shiT has managed to record all the bass for these last few releases, and they have a support bassist so that's fine. It would be nice if they got a bassist too though xDDD
 
 
Aaand, did any of you notice in the song past<future, there's a verse where Yo-shiT raps and he mentions a lot of former members of the band? Here is it:

I just realised they don't have a post (at least I couldn't find it) and decided to create one xDD I hope you like them!!

Somehow this topic makes me feel ueasy.
Why?
It makes it sound like actually paying the artist for the music you listen to is some kind of charity. Where you can whine later that not all of your money went to poor children in africa. Like the stuff musicians do isn't work. (Set aside that most make money with something else and income through band activities is very small as we all know by now.)
 
Well it is. If you buy a cd you are paying for the people who were involved in making it. You are not paying for whatever they buy from it. Money goes around the whole world anyway and all the money you ever touched has been owned by assholes, has been used to buy weapons or slaves or whatever and you still use it as if it was fresh and new and innocent.
 
Would you like the customers of the company you are working on boycot it because they saw on your blog that you used it to buy bad music made by men in dresses?
 
(Of course I'm all for boycotting companies that support animal cruelty or nationalist organizations or whatnot. But thats a different thing from what one person can change with the little private money they have.)

Damn, those were some chuggy riffs!

Something was off-putting about the PV though.  The dark sky and the super windy scenes of the band playing made the PV seem a bit ominous, haha.

Anyway, looking forward to the full album!
