  1. Hi there... Although I totally admire Shiina Ringo I wouldn't call myself an expert on that field...

Anyway - to get to the point; Somebody asked me if I can track down a video of a live-performance with orchestra-backing (seen some time ago and not noted what it was apparently) - and I don't have enough expertise/knowledge/time to track it down myself it seems... So I thought this is where MH and you guys could be of help - because I know there are some Shiina Ringo experts swirling around here somewhere :P

    Here's the info I have (not much - I know);

    - a few years ago

    - a live-performance (by 'her', no info if solo or with Jihen)

    - french song 'les feuilles mortes' was performed

    - the song 'kabukicho no joou' was performed - with orchester backing

That's it... More info was not available.

No info about the venue, date/year, the format (TV or DVD) or such...

So - maybe some expert could chime in...

Perfect outcome would be a youtube-link that fits.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Totally no problem to order tickets outside of japan - just let a travel service with connections to JTB handle this... I've bought some tickets that way and it worked like a charm - the tickets were sent to my hotel, I just had to pick them up at the hotel reception upon arrival. I did so with all shows where I were not sure weather or not the shows will sell out short- or long term. For shows I didn't expect that tho happen I just bought the tickets when I was in Japan (loppi machines with L-Numbers for Lawson-Tickets most of the time)...

  3. New JOSY one is also pretty nice... Seems like they're about to step up the ladder with SSTV and stuffs...

I'm very happy that I've seen them on their EU-tour already - very nice girls and pretty good for a band without a guitar!

well, seems like I have to go watch Giru now (still tinkering about it because usually I'd say the price is too high - even for the name they have), to be fair I didn't see them live so I better don't pre-judge this until next week... But still, I don't see how they could be 2-3 times better :P And I know what you're saying or meant to say but I feel like as if especially for people without the whole 'japan-background/bias' seeing a 'small' Band that totally blows them away expectation-wise could be an even better option. The singer of the support band told me after the concert that if he had known how good they are actually (the PV's don't do their live-performance justice) he would have made double the amount of promotion (paying for that on his own, like I do)...

And yeah - it's a big family after all, this is not meant offensive, especially not towards the band(s) themselves - because the bands basically only do their job and most of the time they do it pretty well. But what I see with Giru over here (and this might be only the case for Austria, I don't know about the management/promotion for other countries) is not only a high price (which I can live with if the 'service' is alright) but also a concert where I don't see the involvement of local promoters/support so I don't see any sort of promotion over here in Austria at all for Giru - despite like some things fans or parts of street teams do for free... And I don't see or feel why I should pay more then 40 Euro when I know there is not much effort nor any money put into promotion here in our country (ok, to be honest - it's pretty normal that there is no promotion-budget but at least you see some more effort, where in this case it's pretty German-focussed)... So I don't criticize the band at all but I rather critizise how this is handled here promotion/event-organizer wise... But well, I guess I'll watch it and tell you what I think later on... I hope you can follow my thoughts about this (not meant as band-critique, more like as critique at how this is handled here in Austria - might be handled different/better in other countries tho)... Because how this is handled over here is not what I'd see as a benefit to the J-Music (live) scene in Austria. Sadly this happens a lot as we often don't have or get the status to be handled separately from Germany and are often seen as "just another small country next to Germany" (same language, not far away, no real specialized J-Music labels or organizers ).

  5. I can be glad, happy and fortunate enough that there are people over here who support me with this - but that's like only a few persons. In this case the timing was a bit unfortunate (I didn't choose it tho, can't change that) - next week Giru is playing with a much higher price-tag and basically most of the self-proclaimed "J-Rock fans" go there and put all of their money at Giru-tickets and merch (Giru ticket is 2-3x higher then UPLIFT ticket - no doubt that they'll be good enough, but 2-3x better then UPLICT -> I highly doubt that after seeing and hearing them!)...

  6. The concert in Vienna was totally awesome... Not many people (around 25 I guess) but a very good show, incredible skills and total joy from the band (that's how it felt at least)! You might now think; hey - this guy is involved, never would he state any different -> but trust me, I've seen many japanese bands live now (I don't count anymore actually, more then 200 different artists) and they are one of the really really good ones - live at least! It was better then I expected from the PV's alone - great stage presence especially - and very nice guys overall.

Here's the setlist from 21/05/2014 @ Aera, Vienna:

I highly recommend you to go and visit the show(s)!

Even if you might think they're just "Pop-Punk" and not your genre or if you think "nobody will be there anyways"! You will be proven wrong - quality-wise, not audience-wise tho I guess (but they totally kill it even in front of 20 people - so you'd better be one of them)!

  7. Elomaticmill finally released their first (real) PV :)

Music-wise it's more like pop-rock, nothing I'd call 'special-indie' but nice nonetheless and I'm following them for quite a while now - this is fine stuff for people who like earlier pop-rock stuff like 'The Screaming Frogs' or even stuf like Judy and Mary... Give it a try!

  9. It was a niiiice concert again here in Linz (Austria) :)

Even as a duo they still kill it live! I can only highly recommend these shows...

Bought 3 CD's and got pictures with them and some short smalltalk after the show :)

It was really nice to see them again, they looked really happy and had fun it seems.

Setlist from Linz/Austria, venue: KAPU, date: 2014/05/07:
