  1. Mid-thirties here and still don't want kids, or even a serious relationship, tbh. Everyone in my family looks at me like I'm an alien because I don't give a shit about marriage or children. I also get tired of people insinuating I'm selfish for not wanting children, like living my life for myself is a bad thing. The world is scary, not to mention over populated as it is. I don't feel compelled to add to it.

  2. This post makes me wish I had the patience to scan my magazine collection, I have a shelf of old vk/j-rock magazines I bought from 2001-10 when I was obsessed (and it was a lot easier to get because some local shops were importing them). So a lot of Cure, Arena 37c, Shoxx, zi:, and Fool's mate. But to do that I'd have to destroy them to get them flat in the printer. I know people used to do that, but I don't think I could bring myself to do it unless I had a duplicate copy. I used to meticulously track down every image I could of bands I liked when I first got into VK, especially when I made a lot of fan-oriented graphics back in the livejournal days. After a while I lost interest though and pretty much only kept my folder of Mucc scans.

I have a handful of photosets and cheki's. I don't actively collect them but if they're a easily accessible I buy some (like when I see a band at a convention) to help support the band if there aren't CDs around. I could probably get those in at some point but they aren't nearly as old.

This also makes me miss old fansites/blogs where the group members used to work collectively to scan in images, translate interviews, and share uploads of the bts content centered around specific/single groups. I don't see VK groups like this around much anymore. Not on the English side of things anyway. It's sad.

I really don't get why japanese bands feel like they need to disclosure every single break they have. Western bands often go radio silence for very long periods of time and nobody could care less... really, what's 3 months to a band so accomplished as MUCC?

I was laughing thinking about this when I read the announcement too. But, especially in Mucc's case, they've never really gone quiet before, even when they went a while between releases, they still had blogs, social media, radio appearances, DJ gigs, tours, announcements for upcoming things... complete radio silence would probably make some fans worry. Or at least they're worried the fans would worry? lol.

  4. I'm really curious to hear a good number of these.

    風と太陽 / cali≠gari
    謡声(ウタゴエ) / 氣志團

    最終列車 / THE BACK HORN
    大嫌い / THE ORAL CIGARETTES

    ガーベラ / sukekiyo

    Mr.Liar / ヒステリックパニック
    流星 / Plastic Tree

    アイアムコンピュータ / POLYSICS

all look like cool picks and bands covering that can put their own flavor on it.

  5. The photo is about the size of a business card in the middle of an empty page, so I don't think I was able to get much more quality out of the scanner, but I did try also taking a regular photo of the image and was able to tone down the grain, though you end up with some slight glare and distortion from the page not being quite as flat. But maybe one of these does the job for you.

(if you open the image in a new tab/window they will be larger)

    edit:

Bonus version where I played in photoshop merging and painting a bit trying to get some shading details back into the scan.

Now that I'm in full on JRock revival mode, I also decided to give Mucc another chance. I've never disliked them, but I never really got into their music. But I have to say, my teenage self was WRONG. Listened to Gokusai on youtube, and it's a great album indeed! I kind of like the way it'd set up, every song is unique, and it seems as if it follows some kind of concept. I just added another CD to my "soon-to-buy" list.

Awesome! I'm happy you decided to give them a second chance!
