I figured I might as well start this thread. ARCHE leaked yesterday and I think peeps have had enough time to get a few listens in.
Here's my review straight from my FB status:
Its a pretty kickass album for what it is. I second Dakota in saying that it is not a favorite. I already have my batch of favorite tracks but the other songs don't really really resonate with me at this point in time. This could be due to the fact that I really didn't like a lot of the tracks that give off the vibe of the way older albums. I have key songs that i like in the pre MOAB era but for the most part, a lot of those songs are a snooze fest. With that said, I do dig that this album is very tame, simple, and very easy to get into. It took awhile for me to really get situated with URO and DSS so this was a nice change. I look forward to seeing how the new songs are placed in setlists for future live DVD's. I feel like placed perfectly, they will blend so well with the bands previous material and the sets will shine.

This has got to be one of the most asshole-ish/ unnecessary responses...Let their opinion be.
As for my initial thoughts of the album, its great. But not a favorite. I'll get more in depth in the review thread.
In regards to Shinya, I think the whole 'nailing it' doesn't only apply to him but the entire band as well. It took the band awhile to finally play the DSS songs correctly. Seeing as though these songs are more simple and easy flowing, I don't doubt these songs will be played to near flawless level once a live DVD drops.

I'm down to get married. I just don't want a huge ceremony. As long as close peeps and fam of my wife and I are there, I'll be happy. I believe marriage is a beautiful thing. 

Indeed, I liked DSS but these songs are way much easier to get into.

I believe GALLOWS and SHADOWS is their best work. INFERIORITY COMPLEX was a step up from I BELIEVE IN ME (which was bad...) but they both have select great songs on em. Also their oldie gems are pretty nice as well. 

That is definitely an unpopular opinion here, and he doesn't seem to agree with it. Anyway, back on topic, I actually really like Theatrical Blue-black, I was totally psyched for that song when the video was first posted, I even enjoyed the apathetic BI"name"JIKA to an extent, but was not fond of HATE.
I also LOVE RAVEN, I think Echo is a pretty nice song, and those previews posted were pretty cool. I'm not expecting this album to be groundbreaking, at the very least I am expecting this album to be decent, if not really cool! Though I'm not expecting ground to be broken, I am still very much looking forward to this album because I think MEJIBRAY is long overdue for a second album. They've released enough singles since 2012 for a double album (b-sides included), and as someone who is not really into singles, that annoyed me! Even just the singles since MESSIAH.bat alone could have been a full album.
And for the sake of comparing this album release to GANGSTA: As mentioned, MEJIBRAY has been due for a new full-length album for quite some time. Sadie, on the other hand, should take a break from releasing full-length albums.

Fans and how they influence how i feel about a certain band or group has no correlation to me now. If anything i feel as if the rabidness of VK fans has gone down intensely from what it was a few years ago. Anyone who's been active in the scene knows how much of a shit show Batsu was. Batsu was the home of dickhead, stuck up DIR EN GREY fans and overly obsessed GazettE fans as well as others. It was either, who could one up who or who adored who more. BARELY about the music. It was extremely sickening but at the same time, I could easily avoid it all by just sticking to the music and not going to that particular place...or just come here when you guys were TW.  
 
I feel like now people have matured, its gotten to the point where people can actually discuss a release from a musical perspective/a calm manner for the most part. If anything, K-Pop (even though I love it), is the only genre where fans are consistently getting out of hand. Its 2014. Stanning and such is looked down upon. Its also not that hard to be an adult and have your own experience with a band. People could be listening to so much great music but are robbing themselves of it because of "the stans." And its also ok to have a differing opinion than everyone else especially if you feel strong about it. 
 
Long story short, grow the fuck up.

I wouldn't do something like that. There are quite a few bands I enjoy that I wouldn't if I paid attention to their respective fanbases and let that kind of thing influence my appreciation of the music. Letting fans influence what you listen to is something I view as beyond immature.

I'm still tryna wrap my head around why Kaoru stopped using EMG's. Not complaining about his tone but it just seems so abrupt.

Which song? INCUBUS?    If so, the single was shared here: http://monochrome-heaven.com/index.php?/topic/31164-acid-black-cherry-incubus-20141022-itunes/     And I'm over a month late adding this, but 2012 was also a concept album (i.e., every album has been a concept album). In fact, ABC itself has an overlying theme, so you can say it's a concept too LoL      And I'm REALLY looking forward to this album, I can't wait for it to be released.    Although, I sorta agree with ishiki about the LE contents.  While I wouldn't say I'm disappointed... I just wish the Project "Shangri-La" footage would have been released by itself as a Live DVD set.  And the LE albums would have followed the same pattern as his previous albums - Type 1: PVs + Special Edit PVs + off shoot/interview and Type 2: concert footage and sometimes offshoot/special footage.   But Yasu seems to be breaking with tradition (a little bit, anyway). INCUBUS was the first single he's released that has included Live footage on the CD+DVD version.

Tbh, I agree with a lot of what Miku posted. To be fair, the band has satisfied a lot of tastes over the years. Its not like you can't go and enjoy that side of DIR EN GREY that you fancy. Its really as easy as looking it up/purchasing it. This whole "hurr durr durr I wish they were this and such and this new album sounds like its gonna suck durr durr durr" is so played. Have people really forgotten that the band doesn't stick to one particular concept? 

Anyways, I'm very curious as to this supposed controversy with Uroboros. DSS I can understand but Uroboros, at least to me, was a step in the right direction and maturity. The Marrow of a bone, is what got me into them but I will admit that compared to what they've done before and since, it falls very short.

Fair enough. Still, it's kind of hard to judge what this album is going to be like by the ten second samples that were posted. I want to say that it will have the same atmosphere as The Unraveling EP and the two singles, but this seems to be the album that samples their entire career so far.

Man, I remember someone telling me I shouldn't listen to those two particular releases because they supposedly sounded like Linkin Park at the time. On the other hand though, said person also told me that they liked the band when Gackt was the singer, so there's that...

I like DSS for the most part. I just prefer listening to the well done live versions of the songs. And Different Sense will always be one of the top 5 Dir songs because its very well executed and that solo is awesome. 
 
As for this new song, its pretty chill and the more i listen to it, the more i like it. Doesn't hit me like my potential favs do though.
