  1. It hasn't really been much of a mystery to me. Same "pretty boy/girl" Asian band fad, different music and instruments. Though I don't think it is very odd if people just happen to enjoy all kinds of music.

Not that I necessarily care, I'm just a little perplexed by some of the reasons people give for the whole "conversion" to K-Pop from VK. For example when people say they "left J-Rock" because "all the bands sound the same and are totally generic liek omgggg guize." And then I look at their list of favorite K-Pop bands and I'm like . . . ummmm, okay then.

  2. That being said, I don't care at all for Seremedy, the few songs I heard were mediocre at best. As a matter of fact, many western vk bands I heard were pretty mediocre, which isn't all surprising, considering they're usually a bunch of young guys that probably just learned to play their instruments. However, a lot of equally mediocre japanese vk bands seem to get a lot of love.

Honestly this is the main reason why I don't really like these kind of bands. It's not really that they are Western/Wapanese, it's just because they aren't all that appealing/great musically imho.

  3. Just received a mail from CDjapan with a 2-3weeks delay on a CD I ordered '___') [although they say on their website that they'd usually ship within 3-7 days]

Anyone knows if it's worth to wait? (I'm not really familiar with delays from CDjapan since I usually pre-order stuff (a) but after reading some experience here and seeing it could even take longer or even have to cancel it, I don't know what to do O __ O ; )

I've had a CDJ delay before and after the three week mark, they emailed me again saying that it was out of print with the manufacturer.

However, if the release is a fairly recent (like within the past two years) or fairly popular one, I'd endure the wait and they'll probably get some copies in stock within that time period. If it doesn't fit that criteria, I would go ahead and cancel just because you'll most likely be sitting around waiting for nothing, tbh.

  4. I don't care for them, mostly because I don't care much for the style of visual kei they usually attempt to imitate in the first place. However, I'm not bothered by them although I find the super "weeaboo" bands a bit amusing. Then again, I'm probably being a little hypocritical considering there are quite a few J-metal bands I like that dub themselves with English names (Roger, Annie, George, for example) and write all their stuff in English.

  5. It will die once bands stop identifying as visual kei and when it stops being profitable, I guess.

But most likely that will never happen. I don't think any music genre has really "died" or fallen off the face of the earth completely. Like ficsci said, most of the time it just spirals into obscurity and most people forget about it. Because even when the genre or scene has been warped and adapted into something completely different with the passage of time, there will always be the old artists that come back or remain active and keep a remnant of the past alive.

  6. The topic title says it all.

I'll be gone for around two-three months due to some complicated circumstances I can't fully explain. Don't worry, I'm alright. I hope to be back posting regularly in early November.

I'll miss you guys. Sorry I haven't been as active as I used to be lately. I've been going through some new life-changing shit and it kinda sucks right now.

Thanks for being such cool people,

    - Tay (Number Girl)

Okay, so things turned out a lot better than I expected and I won't be going on a complete long hiatus as I had previously thought. :P

Sorry about that. Anyway, I'm back. Hi.

  7. Since I've been taking NyQuil before bed every night, I've had the weirdest dreams.

First of all, I keep having recurring nightmares where I am carrying or trying to hide marijuana for a friend. Before they take me to jail, I always end up finding a way to escape or the police mysteriously drop the charges. In one dream that really stood out, the characters of That 70's Show wanted me to hide their pot in my dorm room so they could smoke later that day. I was afraid my roommate would get me busted, so for some reason I put the pot in my purse and took it with me to Chemistry lab. While I was in Chem lab, Kelso (from that 70's show) was my lab partner and he was so excited about my secret that he stupidly let it slip out loud that I had the pot. My TA called the police and the whole building had a lock down. For some reason, instead of campus police, a Japanese police officer came and took Kelso and I to a place far away from campus. He tied us up by our hands to some wooden posts under this old building out in the middle of nowhere. He was speaking Japanese and I asked Kelso what he said and Kelso replied that he was going to go and grab something to beat us with for "distribution" and then he was going to ship us off to Tokyo Detention Center. When he left, I managed to get the pot out of my purse and I ate it all. When the officer came back he released us due to lack of evidence.

Just last night I had a dream that I was in my school's library and I met this really nice Chinese girl who offered to be my study buddy. While we were studying, she started telling me a sad story about her life and then she admitted that she had a crush on me and that she wanted to be with me the rest of her life. She then began telling me good qualities about me and I was really touched and said I would love to be her girlfriend. Then I explained to her that I already had a boyfriend and she got angry and said it was either him or me and she threatened to leave. I at first was about to choose her, but then I thought about my boyfriend and how I loved him very much and how he had done so much for me, I decided to pick him. She left, but then somehow got the knowledge that she was pregnant and the whole reason she approached me in the first place was so that she could have someone to help take care of the baby with her and be a second parent to it. I was then very very happy I had chosen my boyfriend because I did not have any money to take care of a baby.

  8. The extreme Diru and Gazette fans should get a plaque or something, lol. . .

I'd say X Japan's fans can be quite delusional. Don't get me wrong, there are some really cool people who like them but most of them are . . . unbelievable. The craziest ones in particular are a) the Yoshiki stans - it is annoying how they try to justify and defend everything he says and does (such as the concert cancellations, photo shopping in fans for an article, and majorly screwing up his earthquake auction charity) and B) the Yoshiki/Toshi and Yoshiki/hide slash warrior fangirls - oh my God, I've witnessed legitimate bitch fights about who Yoshiki was/is really a lover with and who "Without You" was really dedicated to; I wish I was kidding about that shit. I have never seen people so obsessed with whether a person is gay/bi or not in my entire life.
