  4. hm...BAROQUE × THE NOVEMBERS tour? I've never tried BAROQUE, but perhaps I should. https://scontent-atl1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xat1/t31.0-8/s960x960/11334082_840158299409332_4031052036581536282_o.jpg

i had no idea brq got irrelevant enough for a split tour with novembers, explains mf disgustingly lazy recent album. whatever, though, totally over those two.

ah, guess I'll pass then. THE NOVEMBERS did a few shows with sukekiyo earlier this year too, and although I'd say those bands are completely different, i can see how they would compliment each other atmospherically. I was hoping that would be the case here too. At any rate, still great to see Koba&co. working with a bunch of different artists. They seem to occupy a unique space in the industry, one in which their sound/aesthetic allows them to mesh well in a variety of scenes.

This is a big one for me. I hear it in Japanese music across the spectrum, and it's especially annoying when vocalists constantly sing outside of their range and just end up sounding strained. In some contexts, It can be fitting, but It definitely grates when it's done so casually and frequently.
  7. CAT5

^ that's a good question actually. Planned or not, it was absolutely terrifying, though . I suppose if it were random, then it would be even scarier. also, sharing this for the lolz:
  8. Never really warmed up to this band, but the new indigo la end is pretty great.

Me either, I'll have to check this one out.

For me it was like [Coll:set] = 凍える夜に咲いた花 single > BORN > REDEEMER > MIRROR. I'd really recommend the first 3, as they probably got the most play from me out of any D'espa material. They kinda lost me in 2007, and although I thought REDEEMER was super solid, 2009 was all about the gazette, haha. ; )
  10. Please vote this up! Thanks in advance!
  11. CAT5

Yeah, that entire battle took me by surprise...even when they reached the gate and a few managed to break through, I honestly didn't expect things to escalate like that. Hands down one of the most powerful and well concocted scenes of the entire series so far. It seems like both tv-heads AND book readers were equally in awe.
  12. new albums from ATATA, ??イスイノナサ, 八?八ヶ所巡礼, 凛??????時雨. downy, or THE NOVEMBERS would be much welcome. The year is half-way done and I still haven't heard anything aoty-ish from Japan yet. 2nd half looks promising, though!

Since came up with this theme and won't be able to attend, I suggest postponing it out of fairness.
  18. Tokyo Jihen - this band was too perfect Rentrer en Soi - I felt like their best work was yet to come, as long as they stuck to their guns and didn't hop on trends School Food Punishment - they had an instantly recognizable sound, and with la la larks active, I wonder why they even disbanded at all Pre-2007 D'espairsRay

  22. I can understand it's appeal. Having been exposed to a ton of it over the past 3 or so years thanks to sites like plug.dj and turntable.fm, I can say that a lot of it is fun and catchy. I think it's interesting that they've taken that whole pop-group aesthetic and managed to keep it appealing, since it's become mostly passé in the west. I also think it's cool that kpop producers seem to keep up with all the pop-music trends while drawing from several, older eras of pop music at the same time. It's a very, subtly unique blend of sounds, but I think it gives them a bit of edge up over a few other mainstream pop scenes. With that said, I don't feel like there's enough substance in it for me to incorporate into my regular musical diet. I've also never been able to establish any significant emotional connections with the music. It can certainly be fun to indulge in at times, and the music videos are usually pretty entertaining, though.
