  1. Statements like the one I just posted are usually the kind I try to avoid making, but I feel particularly fervent about 9mm since they've been such an important band in my musical journey. I hate to sound like what one of those "early material > everything else" elitists, but sadly, that's been the case for me. They hit their peak with their first album and they've been on a decline ever since. After 4 albums and 6 singles worth of fodder, and now this new song (which sounds like an even lamer rehash of 'black market blues' with a tacky wah-wah riff added to make things worse), you'll have to forgive me if I'm not exactly optomistic for their future.
  2. I hate to say it, but I would not be sad if these guys decided to call it quits now.
  3. Some things I discovered recently: Polish post-punk from 1986: And something new - American band Pleasure Leftists. They just released a new album called 'The Woods of Heaven'.

Yeahh...Aldious has never been my thing. And while I'm not a big FLiP fan either, I've probably heard all of their albums and do find some of their songs enjoyable. So FLiP it is.

Forced favorites. They're trying to streamline our tastes, haha

Welp, now I have a legit excuse for ignoring album requests via PM on there. Well done, last.fm, well done.
  8. haha, trombe beat me to the punch! This song seems a bit reigned in for them, but I like it. Still hype for the new album.

^ looks like it was done on MS paint, heh. Also, while I think fanservice in anime is generally pretty stupid and unnecessary, I'm finding both 'Shokugeki no Souma' and 'Prison school' hilarious so far.

I liked it better before there was a post limit to it.

  11. Honestly, it's probably just pressures of the industry. Ling has come a LONG way, but they haven't reached a level of success where they can just take it easy. Ling has been major for a while, but their name is just now becoming a brand - and their music ofc is the product for that band. When you've reached this point in the industry, creativity becomes less of a priority, and refining that product becomes the major goal. As much as we all love ling and want to hear them push themselves further musically, they're still in a business at the end of the day. TK doesn't have the luxury of waiting until inspiration hits to pick up his pen or guitar. They have a product to push. You gotta give em credit, though. Even with the industry and all of its pressures and politics, they've managed to more or less stay afloat quality-wise. Unlike many other bands: 9mm, sfp, midori, massdre, etc... But I feel what you're saying, though. Hopefully the rest of the mini album isn't fresh out of the "random ling song generator", heh.
  12. I can see that. Although I think a Robin solo would be closer to Thom's solo stuff...more overtly electronic.
  13. Hiatus Kaiyote finally released a music video for "Breathing Underwater"! Absolutely ACE track and one it's one of the best I've heard all year. The Stevie influence is palpable!

Check out kenmochi hidefumi's stuff then. He's the guy that produces for her and he's released several albums of his own years ago. His album "Falliccia" is really dope - all instrumental stuff, though not tailored for a pop artist.
  16. I wasn't moved by the samples, but I'll still probably enjoy a bit of the album.
  17. I tried "Urban Flora" by Alina Baraz & Galimatias and it was really great - not really a bad track on it. Very chill and mood-setting. Certainly one of the coolest things I've heard this year! I've also got Moodoid on my list of things to get to eventually, but they seem really promising! Lianne's album has been out for a little bit now. I only listened once, but I remember it being decent...I need to give it another go, though to see how I feel about it. Also, a Joanna Newsom album in on the way! 18. I voted for the The 3rd Birthday (the colors are really striking in this one), and Uchuu Conbini and Boris (these last 2 are blended pretty perfectly).

Hey everyone, what's generally considered their best release?

That new BOMI is great as usual. She's without a doubt one of my favorite Jpop artists atm. Looks like it's just a digital single, though..
  22. Not only does an idea like this defeat the purpose of a forum, but it's also impossible to implement. Thread Closed.
