    I have astigmatism and I've been wearing glasses for as long as I can remember. I can function fine without them, but wearing them always helps. I just broke my glasses recently so I'm gonna need to get a new pair soon. I absolutely despise contacts. XD every sentence above starts with "I"
  3. FIGHT THE POWAH D! ;D lol... Seems like a good move...the artists associated with SMILE COMPANY are nothing but Jpop fodder.

    ^ yep, Masa Sextet is nice! I looooooov Bembe Segue's vocals too. Shame she doesn't do more jazz =/ Posting to say that Makoto Kuriya's new album "Art for Life" is pretty jammin'. I'm almost done with my first listen, and while the album isn't mindblowing, it's a THOROUGHLY SOLID listen! There are even a few vocal tracks featuring Akiko and Shiho (Fried Pride)! I was pleasantly surprised by this album. ;D Q78eatyEqS0
  5. My thoughts exactly. I'd prefer 3 (hopefully) splendid tracks over a full album with lots of potential filler. There aren't many bands that can release a full album every year and maintain quality.

    They need to stop teasing us and return to their eternal slumber =______________=

    I'm thinking about putting together a little indie mix specifically for the members that frequent this indie-thread. Of course, It'll consist entirely of unknown/obscure stuff that most of you have probably never heard of before. But firstly, would you all even be interested in such a thing? If enough people are interested, then I'll put one together. Just trying to spice this thread up a bit ;D

    new MMK is always a good thing - they've yet to disappoint. I'm looking forward to a lot from that list as well, but I'm especially curious about the new thai kick murph. There was a rumor around last year that the band would be breaking up, but I'm glad they're still together. They're one of the most promising underground-pop bands I've heard in the past few years. I was completely enamored with their debut despite the poor production....can't wait to see how the new one sounds! btw, has anyone heard the new mothercoat album "egobag" yet?

    As a casual Dir En Grey fan coming into this single with hardly any expectations, I found "DIFFERENT SENSE" to be surprisingly impressive. The mild-progressiveness of it was definitely a plus. Will certainly garner repeat plays from me! Personally, I didn't care for "罪と規制". The "RED SOIL [LIVE]" was incredibly listenable for a live recording. Not only did they perform the song damn well, but the actual quality of the recording is applaudable as well. Overall - quite nice. I'm actually somewhat looking forward to the album now! ;]

    oh and double-post: Oldcheesey and herpes - your posts are borderline inappropriate. No one gives a shit when you two thought they should have disbanded. Yes, bands come and go and this is no big deal at the end of the day, but try and be a bit more respectful/considerate of the fans here.

    WOW, Hizumi's condition is very unfortunate. I really admired his vocals too. I'll miss these guys. They've played a MAJOR role in shaping my appreciation for music, and I still jam to a lot of their material to this day. Thanks for cranking out some great tunes over the years, guys. RIP D'espairsRay.

    WOW, that was fast! I just hope they're able to maintain their sound...Sony has been known to fuck up several indies bands before. (Though Rin Toshite remains unscathed as of yet). Good luck to them!

    It''s funny, A friend of mine said the exact same thing, but I never thought that his voice was particularly "vk-sounding"....he does have a very poppy and even theatrical singing style, though - and from that standpoint, I can see him being compared to a VK vocalist. btw, you should check out our thread here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9422 Lots of cool stuff is being posted, and I plan to share tons more... oh, and the new Metro-Ongen album is NIIIIIIIIICE!

    ^ yeah cinema staff are quite good. Great mix of pop sensibilities and raw, indie ingenuity ;] Also, I'd like everyone to check out the album I just posted here nayuta's solar ribbon, solar children is an ABSOLUTE MUST HEAR. It's an incredibly obscure album from an incredibly obscure band, but a it's a total gem! I'd recommend it to all J-indie fans!

    TRGGM is still a classic, imo ;]

    I put in my vote, but....I forgot to disable the file size column on foobar, so that definitely influenced my vote - kind of a cheat I guess. However, prior to looking at the file sizes I could only hear a difference in one of the files. So you win, zesshoku. (_ _)

    ^ I've only seen the name around, but never bothered to listen. They do sound pretty nice, though...I'm just not very keen on the vocals. I have to say that I'm really digging these fairly new indie-rockers. They're releasing a new mini album next month. It should be pretty good! tSjaP8cxHw0

    In my opinion, the word 'generic' carries too many negative connotations. Far too often you'll find people using the term to describe music that they consider unappealing or just plain garbage. However, I don't think the word should be necessarily viewed as a negative thing. This is why I appreciate OldCheesy's comment. It shows that music can be both "amazing" and "generic" at the same time. For instance, I consider D'espairsRay's album "Coll:set" to be quite generic. Musically, it's nothing out of the ordinary - It's all stuff you've heard before. But their particular execution of that sound on that album is something that I consider to be exceptional. I also agree with littlelamb that everyone's perception of "genericalness" differs. I guess I've listened to enough music to realize that it's all related in one way or another. And from the perspective I've developed, there's not a whole lot of music out there that can't be put in some kind of general category or made out to be "generic". So if I were to view music in terms of "generic" and "non-generic" , I'd consider the bulk of it to be the former. So I try not to use the term as a substitute for the quality of music. ...and I realize that I've digressed from the topic at hand, but I just wanted to put that out there! ^^;;

    ^ ah, I see. Seeing releases with A+B+C+D+E versions is usually cause for an immediate facepalm, but you're right! This is quite an exception! I guess I assumed the extra material would be some short clip or something. Yet another example of why one shouldn't assume. I just made an @ss out of "u" and "me" - but in this case, just me lol ;]
