    chemicalpictures got a reaction from reminiscing2004 in VK-Bands that you think STILL HAVE their "spark" & new bands you're keeping an eye on in 2017
    I just wrote a status complaining about 2017 VK before I saw your post, lol

    Checking the 2017 Music Ratings thread is pretty telling. very few people with VK releases on the top of their list. I haven't listened one release that blew my mind yet, and most of what I consider really good this year has been compilations/best of, so...

    But all is not lost, I still believe Develop One's Faculties is the best thing that happened to VK in the decade, ACME and ORCALADE both are great newcomers, MORRIGAN usually does not disappoint, FAR EAST DIZAIN can be good, ZERO MIND INFINITY is a real promise... there's still hope

    I really don't get why japanese bands feel like they need to disclosure every single break they have. Western bands often go radio silence for very long periods of time and nobody could care less... really, what's 3 months to a band so accomplished as MUCC?

    -for a request-

    Lyrics: Rayka
    Music: REALies
    Kanji and romaji available at peffy's blog

    English: Within the Shadow
    A petty monologue, "I want to rewind time"
    Always repeating within my insecurities and hesitations
    Everyday feels temporal, strumming in dissonance
    My soiled sense of worth became blurry

    Within the shadow, a large back profile signaled the beginning, a summer's day

    I pray that this song will stay within someone's heart
    Even if everything will disappear someday
    I searched within the shadow, I'll engrave these dreams and hopes so that we won't forget them
    I pray that this song will remain in someone's heart
    Even if I disappear someday
    I'll leave behind my "voice"

    "My story of madness, a dark world that knew after being stained
    Only shining for a moment, it was too late by the time I noticed..."

    The shadow was watching me at the crowded intersection
    Finally arriving at the terminal station in escape, in escape
    A silhouette catches up, swallowing me in the darkness
    The light disappearing once again

    Living life the way it is has always been tormenting me
    Without accepting anything
    Living life while giving up was unbearable and depressing
    I'll make my "voice" go dry

    So that this song will not end, so that it'll keep on echoing
    I'll spread all my dreams
    I lived within the shadow, I was certainly alive
    Burn all my "existence" and "proof"

    This song for someone's heart, this song for someone's dreams
    So that it'll remain forever, so that it'll be heard from far away
    This voice for someone's future, this voice for our future

    So that it'll remain forever, so that it'll be heard from far away

    We know for ages that they would go the pop route; they want to fulfill arenas now, and spread their message to a massive audience, so it's not really a surprise (what's surprise me the most are the comments about it, it's like people never heard warm smiles or others softer songs they made in the past, and that they were "that" heavy all the time from start to finish. bruh).
    I received my copy one day early and it's on repeat ever since, it's a banger. When Live Outside came out I hated it but damn, i wanna live outsiiideeee wouldn't leave me alone and I ended up singing all day the song. Now I love it xD Rou's been through hell and you can hear that.
    On serious thought, why is everyong hating on Revolt of The Atoms? Damn, am I the only one to love this song? Just, the lyrics, at first listen I thought he said "my long cock" (for the record, it's alarm clock), and I was like, why is he talking about his long cock wtf bro xDDD
    No need to talk about Rabble Rouser music video, it's shit and they should be ashamed to have released it to the public in the first place.

    This is great!

    thank you so much for taking the time to scan and edit it, I really appreciate it!

    I was trying to see if I could make it work on a t-shirt, but i'm thinking printing it and framing like a poster will do the job better!

    thanks again for it, really!

    The photo is about the size of a business card in the middle of an empty page, so I don't think I was able to get much more quality out of the scanner, but I did try also taking a regular photo of the image and was able to tone down the grain, though you end up with some slight glare and distortion from the page not being quite as flat. But maybe one of these does the job for you.

    (if you open the image in a new tab/window they will be larger)

    edit:
    Bonus version where I played in photoshop merging and painting a bit trying to get some shading details back into the scan.

    It's from Cure Magazine Vol.32. (May 2006). I have the magazine, I'll see if I can get any better but the picture is pretty small to begin with. And my scanner isn't very good.

    I second this. I will wait for their album to form a more lasting opinion, but they haven't being nowhere near of what I expected from the lineup...
    And you are right, Gashinshoutan was released in 2012 aswell, in december, while GTMOA was released in january.

    Man, the goddamn case# singles. They were the reason I changed my username when TW became MH back in 2010. Freaking 5 singles filled with seriously good songs released in such short notice, I remember quite well Jimi blogs talking about each song and how stressful, tiring, but worthy it was. Unfortunately I think they led to him leaving the band, but it was such a ride! cps was on a whole another league, still waiting for some other band to do something as good as the 1st ver of Praparat.

    I've only listened it through twice so far, but I'm diggin it. I mean... Music is so subjective based on peoples emotions, how they connect, and what mood they're in and this is definitely an easy listening vibe for me. I do have to agree that some tracks feel like they're missing that small boost or spice. But overall I think it's a good move on their end. As long as they're having fun.

    Hey fellas, what's up?! any Shikari fans out there?

    Their new album just dropped today, and I'm still recollecting my thoughts on it.

    To start, I'd say this one is most definitely a grower, so this ain't my final opinion yet. This is a fundamentally different album, mainly because of the composition style. Rou himself said they were going for a simpler, "less is more" vibe, and I think they fully achieved that idea (since I liked so many tracks), even if I don't think it was the best course of action. Lyrically, this is the usual ES: clever (Undercover Agents), heartfelt (An Ode to Lost Jigsaw Pieces), always taking sides (Take My Country Back), sending relevant positive messages (Airfield), besides one or two less interesting ones (Rabble Rouser). Musically, we first gotta talk about the best track in the album IMHO. 'Take my Country Back' is the perfect mix of old and new Shikari. Tempo changes, Strong drums, catchy as fuck chorus... I BET you will keep shouting "GET UP GET UP AND FEEL THE RIIIIIISING TIDE" like crazy, it's tailor-made for arena concert. I can aready imagine those live edits the guys do so well making this one a staple on their concerts from now on. Brilliant track. That being said, I don't know if the decision to simplify the compositions was the best one. Most of the tracks are great, but they are missing some kind of kick. some kind of OMPH, a breakdown here and there, some of the usual craziness. You can see that clearly on 'Live Outside' and 'Rabble Rouser'. Both are great tracks, but they have a few verses that sound so empty, if you know what I mean. The album ver. of 'RR' is much better than the edit one, but I still feel it lacked a better guitarwork, it lacked the good mess Shikari is known for. But that's okay, the guys are experimenting, it's a special moment for them. This is a result of personal experiences and emotions. I think they are fully aware of what makes us tick, and if they somehow get what they've learned here and mix with their wild side, I'm positive it will only make a better future Shikari.

    Best track: Take my Country Back;
    Above average: Live Outside, Airfield, Rabble Rouser, Undercover Agents, An Ode to Lost Jigsaw Pieces;
    Average: The Sights, Shinrin-yoku;
    Below average: Revolt of the Atoms;

    I recommend looking up for a 320kbps rip tho, for full Shikari pleasure.

    Would love to hear some thoughts on it!

    I'm a pisces and I always identified 100% with being a dreamer, always spacing out, etc. But it wasn't until recently that i realised that I'm not a badass with no feelings, I'm actually such a emotional mess I find myself getting teary at cat videos. I think I went more emotional as I got older and I hate it.

    Or may be your hearing is normal, there really isn't much difference between 320 and FLAC. To notice a difference, you'd have to be extremely familiar with the song or file and focus on the wierdest shit like high-hats or whatever high frequency instruments are used, subtle decay differences in vocals, stuff like that. I recommend just not worrying about it and focus on the music.
