One word: Lame I know there are rumors of ghost writers in VK, even when that bogus interview "with an ex-VK exec" popped up, I had already suspected that some labels and artists may use ghost writers. However, this is all pure speculation and just uttering an artist you might suspect just starts a bunch of e-drama so I tend to keep it to myself. Especially because there are people that would love to use that as the basis to an argument just to discredit an artist or band they don't like. In any case, I don't like it and it generally makes me lose interest in an artist. What's the point of listening to music from someone when they don't even write their own songs? They're not the person that made the song I like, it's that John Doe not the soulless front man and that John Doe deserves my respect and admiration for creating something I enjoy.

LOL If anything Pantera, mainly Dimebag Darrel is like the Hide of metal. Metalheads circlejerk all over the band (Darrel) and to me it's very reminiscent to the Hide circlejerk you see with Visual Kei fans. I hear that a lot which has discouraged me from trying their newer material.

He can really sing low and high really well O//O Hmm they don't really sound like a low toned voice, except for Daisuke and Tsukaka Kazushi maybe, but definitely not K~. (sounds quite high in the video) I think K sounds much lower in their studio recorded stuff, I guess maybe I thought of her because I'm mostly exposed to those high pitch nasally female Japanese singers, K kind of throws me off because she sings much deeper than what I normally hear. I originally thought she was a 14 year old boy when I first listened to Zig Zag.

z0RuR3FREFw Who is playing? I'm Empire on Daragon Trail! Give me a shout if you want to play on my server! My characters are Arithmetica and Quadrilateral (I haven't decided on a main). I won't play this as obsessively as I did WoW but it'll be occupying a lot of my video game time.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! Oh jeez, poor guy hope he recovers.

Yeah, zechs are an “picoreamo” (screamo/electronic) visual kei band. So... can't wait to see how that turns out. Yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaah..... ......I think this might be a disaster, I don't want it to be because I really do like Tatsuya and I'll listen to this (if I can handle the screamo/electronic) but I hope it doesn't end up being a big failure and discourages him from continuing with music.

I honestly never thought of Kamijo as a low voiced singer, he sounds like he forces his voice but no complaints from me because his higher toned voice from his Lariene days grates my nerves. Couple that come to mind... Kazushi from Rouage - http://youtu.be/k_NPjhQ_Qlw Daisuke from NeiL - http://youtu.be/66EMIJTEcys Misturu from Shizuku (雫...) - http://youtu.be/cwwydZjgipE Tsukaka from Velze Dieulawahl - http://youtu.be/vbd91UMZrg0 K~ from Zig+Zag - http://youtu.be/SKydsXmNJ9s

I have noticed that an obvious reoccurring theme in Folk Metal is showing pride in your heritage and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just that, it's a subject can easily slip more towards racism or misunderstood and with several bands toting themselves as Folk, Pagan or whatever but promoting racist ideals it pollutes the genre and can bring down other legitimate artists that have nothing to do with racism and hate. Anyway, I guess people argue that with Nokturnal Mortum their earlier stuff promoted that message but they were a young band and that the newer material is considered Pagan Metal if that's even a real genre.

LOL is he trying to go back and be VK again? I know his last band they weren't visual. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I rather him dress like a normie but I'll still check this out, I think it's just kinda super silly.

I agree that obnoxious fans is what kind of makes me down play or just outright not admit that I like Visual Kei. Especially because anime is more popular than Visual Kei/Jayrawk, argue about it all you want how many VK cons do you see in the US but animecons with VK piggybacking off of them? So it's really, the obnoxious anime fans that make me want to hide my interest because when someone sees that Japanese boy with black lip stick slapped across his face and nappy purple spiked hair, people think OH IT'S ANIME MUSIC! Then I feel like I'm being associated with the chubby zit faced Otaku with cat ears on, stupid arm warmers, a furry tail and chomping down on pokey saying I'M GONNA BE A MANGA ARTIST DESU. D:

Really? They are tagged as Black Metal on Last.fm Don't rely 100% on Last.fm tags There's a lot of shitty taggers on that site that will tag pop music as Black Metal and they're not even trolling. This band is one of those, it's cool to hate bands. However, some of the dislike is because of the kind of fans they attract but otherwise I think most of the hate is because it's just cool to hate them without any real reason behind it other than "Dani Filth is a fag hur hur goths r dumb fags" and typical elitist metalhead circle jerk BS. I do agree that but I wouldn't really call them Black Metal, maybe Symphonic Black-ish metal? I dunno, I hate trying to throw things into a genre but at least they should have symphonic somewhere in it I think. Just that if you listen to a band considered Black Metal and then CoF, they just don't sound alike. CoF feels more polished (they're on a major label though) and cleaner than your typical "I EAT WORMS HAIL SATAN" Black Metal. Anyway, here to say that Midian is my favorite release from them, I also have the compilation album Lovecraft and Witches Hearts which I also really like, because I have that I never bother to explore their discography as much since I was pretty satisfied with those two releases. Amor E Morte is my favorite song from them, could leave that on forever. Especially the extended version on the compilation release. The last release I listened to them was the Nymphetamine EP and I didn't really like the title track and didn't listen to anymore from them after that. I didn't like the vocalist who I think is from Leave's Eyes, now their opera singer she's tight. Maybe one day I'll give their newer stuff a go.

Hey, is there going to be a chat room like the Twitter event that Phantasmagoria had? Still don't know if I'll even make it but a chat would be super fun!

Initially I was a bit hesitant to try this band, one because they're kind of batch in with Black Metal which is alright. I can only take it in small dosages (really small dosages) and also apparently some of their lyrics can be kinda racist (but that's typical for black metal anyway). I don't speak Ukrainian so whatever racist neo-nazi message they may sing about just kind goes right over my head, but usually on principle I don't really want to support a band that sends and supports that kind of message. Not that I'm an overly sensitive butthurt pansy, I STILL HAVE SOME STANDARDS OKAY LOL? Anyway, this song hands down is amazing. It really shocked me, I did not expect to hear this at all when I gave this band a go. This is probably my new favouritist song ever until I find another favouristis song ever because I'm fickle like that. 5hY5Obwfq5k The whole album is fantastic but this track is absolutely perfect.

I may not be able to make it to the event but I'll buy a ticket, so even if I can't come you still get my support!

ty62YzGryU4 Appropriate video. I guess people saying Melk is kinda a unique Pacific Northwest thing, apparently we have an accent but I think that claim is a big fat lie.

I don't have any Christmas music except some tacky winter themed VK bullshit

Unfortunately Japan has let me down this year, well just Visual Kei. Misaruka's releases I really liked though. Touhou land had some good releases too but I'm not sure if they were released in 2011 or not. I only started to really listen to Touhou this year. Arkona's album Slovo and mini Stenka na Stenku was also really good. I can't get enough of Arkona's releases, absolutely perfect.

Oh nice, I didn't know Hiro was still active. I was listening to Visage awhile ago and was wondering what had happened to that guy. Good to know, maybe I'll check out 7Addict.

No, I probably wouldn't listen to Visual Kei if I allowed obnoxious fans to drive me away. Every music genre, any fandom or pretty much any situation will have its cray crays and drama queens. Don't let those people get to you, if you let them bother you in something minor like a music fandom then you'll never be able to handle them in any other situation, especially real life. They can be easily ignored, especially via the Internet but most importantly can also be easily trolled.

The Internet will never be the same for me.

There hasn't been anything this year that has really blown my mind, only band to release songs that made me want to leave on repeat forever was Misaruka's single Merrow and online distributed song Curse of Contract. Cailleach Rosary is also pretty good. People like to compare them to Rentrer en soi but they're certainly not a carbon copy but they have something about them that makes me understand why people would want to make that comparison. They have an album soon which I hope has new material and not full of old songs that have already been released. They are part of Kiwamu's label Starwave so they benefit with their music being easily available to international fans. Overall though, there hasn't been anything in Visual Kei that's really sucked me in. There's been a few good things here and there but nothing that has really excited me. Ru:natic's new single was great but they seem to focus more on live activities, they also appeal to more niche Indie VK fans. I'm keeping an eye on Misaruka because I've really liked everything they have released but trying to not get attached since I feel like they could easily announce a disbandment.

Watch the anime series and the ova's... it's much better than the manga IMO. not to mention way more emotional and I feel the message of the series is delivered a whole lot better in the animations than the manga, although the manga cover more of the story after the anime ends... I've pretty much given up on Hunter x Hunter, I finally got through the license exam and it has become a little better since then but now it's some sort of tower tournament crap. I really can't get into stories that involve tournaments, tests and trials. The only time was with Dragon Ball but with others it's just not interesting. Is the whole tournament stories a unique theme in Japan? It seems so common but maybe it's just a Shonen manga thing? However I do like the artwork in Hunter x Hunter :U Anyway, going to start on Fullmetal Alchemist, the last volume is released this month I think and I'm starting over since I left off at volume 10 or something several years ago. I really don't remember what the heck is going on anymore haha. I tried starting back up at that volume and thinking to myself the whole time, "Who the hell is that guy again? What are they talking about? Oh I forgot about this."

Indeed, it's refreshing to hear a female fronted band that isn't trying to be like Nightwish. I don't want to sound like a feminist asshole but one thing I love about Masha is she doesn't have to whore herself out and use sex appeal to garner attention from lonely neckbeard metal fans. I think you should really try Vo Slavi Velikim, the album is when they really fleshed out and refined their sound. Lepta and Vozroshdenie are still pretty raw and might be harder to get into if you've only listened to their later material.
