I just wanted to mention that SWIM SWEET UNDER SHALLOW released their 3rd Single as a FREE DOWNLOAD!
It's nice, laid back stuff with female and dual vocals... Simple but good, I like their stuff so just grab it while it's there.
 
2 of the songs are already on their 1st album, the 3rd track is a new one I guess.
So maybe this is more for people who didn't know them until now.

Can confirm being Sexorcist Percussion and I'm also 99.9% sure I'm the awful person who played Erasure. The link to Mitsu's fanficiton in Will's manifesto makes me miss Mitsu something fierce. I hope he's still out there somewhere inundating someone elses forum with fucks.

Deep down I seriously wish they still write songs like 夢幻 -electric eden- 

Yea, I don't like this. The song itself is basic, not bad per se but seriously basic and I think I'm more annoyed at it because of that.  I feel like I  would've rather it had just been terriblewtfidon'tevenknow like Shooting Star at this stage in the game lol. The song would've been okay if this was still the Alpha/Vandalize era but these are steps way too far back. I agree with Perez in that I quite enjoy their poppier sound but imo at this point they have proven that they could make much more skillful and interesting pop tracks than this so it's disappointing. 
 
That said personally I did like the other released album tracks though so I'll just ignore this until then.

I realize we liked a lot of the same things this year on the non-Japanese side of things but that's mostly in part because I've been really behind on the J-indies scene this past year. Definitely going to be going through and catching up on many of these and share my thoughts on my new listens. 
 
One thing though I will say is actually I was disappointed in this Toro Y Moi album. I was really looking forward to it as a fan and after "So Many Details" was released I had high hopes but the overall album was so-so to me. I'm not sure if it was because I felt he hit too many of the same beats over and over again on it or if the lyrics just really started to irritate me lol. On the subject of the latter: I think his lyrics have always been kind of annoying non-sense but I don't think he's sung so much or more like his vocals/lyrics weren't as much of a focal point. Like... Underneath the Pine it is easy to get lost in the lushness of the music but on Anything in Return I kept getting taken out of the groove by them.

I've always found the concept of people suddenly hating music they used to love quite ridiculous. One may not prefer the old music they listened to; but to suddenly dismiss everything they listened to before? It sounds like many are not listening to the music solely for the music, and that perhaps with things like VK and other scenes, the drive is to be apart of the experience less than it is the enjoyment of the music. That or they're embarrassed they listened to a certain kind of music and want to rebel against that? It's a bit confusing for me.
My taste in music seems to be a constant enjoyment of everything. From a young age I listened to Rap, Pop, Rock, Folk, Jazz, Metal, and Classical. If anything has changed, it's the prominence that one will have in my life over the other. Now I find myself listening to more Classical and Metal vs. any other "genre"; but I still recognize my enjoyment in those other forms. If anything has influenced what I listen to now, it could be age; but I also attribute it to musical maturity. I was not studying music when I was 13 nearly as much as I am now, so what I listen to may have been influenced by that (I used to love Nirvana, now not so much); but never has there been an instance where I'll just suddenly hate something.

after being indefinitely on hiatus at 2013/02/22, it is announced at 女王蜂(ziyoou-vachi) LIVE DVD preview event at 2013/12/02 that they will resume activities in 2014, although details have not yet been announced

(Un)fortunately enough, their pop-centered era is much more interesting than their early vk days.
 
Not really convincing previews but as we all know, A9 will defo bring some surprises along the way
