Replicant reacted to Biopanda in MH FEATURED POLL #9: What are your favorite styles of Visual Kei?
Well, these are the ones it has listed... I'll try my best to translate their descriptions a bit(some of the names are changed around a little):
kote-kei: Short for kotekote visual-kei. Visually characterized by gorgeous clothes and thick makeup. Musically, there are beautiful melodies and profound performances. There's often a member who disguises themselves as a woman and is called the oyama(female impersonator).
osare-kei: Derived from the word "oshare", meaning "fashionable". Visually characterized by bright/glittering makeup and colorful clothes. The style is heavy with poppy, danceable music.
soft visual(sofuvi): Abbreviated term, meaning "soft visual-kei". Though it looks like osare-kei, it's closer to street fashion. They use natural makeup and wear brand clothes. Vocal melody is highly valued in the music.
missitsu-kei/basement-kei: This term comes from cali≠gari's label "Missitsu Neurosis". It's a sort of generic term for bands with a similar atmosphere which played alongside cali≠gari. A defining feature of these bands are their surreal performances.
kuro-kei: Generally speaking... BLACK! BLACK! BLACK! Enamel, rivets, and leather all over. Most of the bands intensely perform loud metal music.
cosplay-kei: They wear clothes that look like they've leapt straight out of anime and games. Whether by armor, kigurumi(animal/mascot costumes) or any sort of uniform, they are always excessively decorated.
shironuri-kei: White grease paint and makeup like the work of an artist is used. Traditional Japanese clothes and Showa-era clothing are often worn. It has a very distinctive atmosphere.

Link leads to the artist's pixiv account, because they're kinda hard to find since they title everything with nothing (as in a blank space); same for the artist name - not even the default 無題.

Replicant got a reaction from Pretsy in Remember Aska? (ex. idiot)
Random searching for stuff on last.fm and I came across this:
It's from August 2014. This might also have new lyrics. There's more.
This one is new? With lyrics. There's more new (?) ones too.
Also in a new band? MoND.
Why do I remember this stuff/somehow manage to find this? Seriously? This is the second time...
Thought I'd post it to see if anyone thought it was amusing like I did or cared.

Replicant reacted to kai_desu in Moving Servers - Complete! DS Is Online!
I'm sure you've all noticed that DS hasn't been up for the past few months. I want to apologize for this - we ran into server issues with our host that knocked the site down. This happened shortly after I moved the forum to our new host, and by that point I was pretty burnt out.
Nothing was lost. I'll be working on moving DS to the new server this week and getting things back online. Once it's back up, I'll jump back into building out some missing features of the site (specifically, artist profiles).

Replicant got a reaction from Biopanda in Presenting RarezHut: The first(?) international used VK store!
Second order; came in quick as usual. Didn't get a tracking number this time... I might have missed it; I've been busy with job shadowing, and moving stuff around. So it was kind of a surprise when I got it in the midst of building a drawer set.
This was a birthday order, so I got a lot more than I usually would order at any one time. I might have gotten more, but I needed some other stuff so I had to limit it quite a bit. Got more fliers; always really neat to have and now I need a clearfile for them all. Everything was well packed in bubblewrap, surrounded by the fliers in a box, so nice and secure.
See everything (including much better pictures of my last order and the fliers) here.

Replicant reacted to relentless in The "Please Explain the Hype" Thread
That's part of the charm, isn't it? What pushed BABYMETAL into such a debated status was because of their gimmick: J-Pop vocals and dance choreography performed over different "genres" of extreme metal. Some people may enjoy the metal aspects, some may enjoy the J-Pop vocals, or others may just be listening to them BECAUSE they're ridiculous. The review posted in the BABYMETAL thread (or the BABYMETAL tour thread, can't remember) touched on it that there were all of these different kinds of people with different interests in music coming together to experience BABYMETAL. That's a large part of the charm, the experience of witnessing something so novel.
Now, this isn't to say they lack talent overall, their musicians are excellent; but the one thing that tends to be a constant in fan's appreciation is the recognition of the gimmick and the experience of seeing them live. The band Ghost (or, in the States, Ghost B.C.) is in a similar light where their popularity soared because of their live production, and people began latching on from there when more and more began to appreciate their music and not just the novelty of seeing dudes dressed as Satan Worshippers.
Whether this craze is going to last or not is something else entirely, though.

Replicant got a reaction from Manic in Blanc Neige - Snow White (Kanji)
As with the La:Sadie's lyrics I posted a while back, I found the Kanji already typed out. This is just a 'As printed in the booklet' version (which means what ASAKI sings may be different).
There still may be some errors since I did this kinda quickly, I will double check in the next few days.
Snow White (music/words ASAKI)
Thanatos (music RYO/words ASAKI)
雫 (music/words ASAKI)
(NOTE: If you happen to have a rip of this and it's tagged 'Song for you', change it; this is the correct title.)

Replicant got a reaction from Biopanda in Presenting RarezHut: The first(?) international used VK store!
(I'll dig out my actual camera later to take nicer images - cameraphone ftw.)
My order came in really quickly (ordered on Friday [11th], sent out on Monday [14th], recieved today). CDs were wrapped really well in bubble wrap. Bonus flyers were cool (PLUNKLOCK and 燭台(怪). Not familiar with 燭台(怪), but that dog is adorable). CDs were in really nice condition and ripped perfectly. Prices were fantastic as well, espically after some comparison. (I'm in the US, so shipping prices will differ internationally...)
Will order again as soon as I can. (I have my eye on the しゅ~ふるまぁ~じゅ tape... >_>)

Replicant reacted to freundin in [SOLVED] Proper Kanji tags for some songs (翡翠)
Proper tags for these two: seijaku no hana "静寂の花" and kodoku no hitomi "孤独の瞳".
Though their sound was found to be quite different from the other releases, except maybe for demeanor where all songs are strangely instrumental so I wonder a bit as well.

Replicant reacted to sai in Lustknot. will be indefinitely on hiatus
"Why stop making art when you have a brain tumor? The best hallucinations come from brain tumors, why treat it?"
That's basically the same as what you're saying here because it could make him fall into a serious depression when left untreated and it's going to take a bit longer than a year for him to get out of that. Mental illness is a very serious issue and is more than "going crazy". People with a personality disorder are not crazy, in fact, there are many types of personality disorders that are hardly noticeable (for example, take an avoidant personality disorder; these people are usually just fine until they get into situations where they have to perform, both socially as academically). I'm pretty sure there is someone you know in real life that has a personality disorder without knowing they have it.
I think it's good that he acknowledged that he had a problem and is going to seek help. He could've gone on and denied he had a problem but that probably wouldn't have helped, both for his own health as for the band's group atmosphere. Once therapy starts to help him, he could already restart slowly again with band activities, so in cases like these I think it's really important that he's taking a break. Better a break than a disbandment, right?

Replicant reacted to hyura in Madeth gray'll kanji/romaji/translation; tragedy in 6 acts
Hello~
Some time ago I translated all of Madeth gray'lls lyrics to German and reading through those translations again I thought that their stories are so cool I should do it once more, this time in English, and share them with everyone who might be interested. orz
This time I also want to include all the small poems and stories printed on booklets and CDs that aren't directly related to a song and arrange everything in a way to make the tragedy a little more coherent because all the songs are loosely connected.
I'll post every song individually and add a list with the links here to keep things tidy. ;D
The structure is a somewhat chronical order, but if there are multiple versions I'll mostly choose the newer ones, because Hisuis writing improved quite a lot over time. There will propably be 6 acts, even though I know a classical drama should only have 5...
Prologue
0. 楽園の黒霧 - Black fog in paradise
Act I : 狂死楽園 - Mad Death Paradise
1. 呪ワレシ華ノ生命… - A cursed blossoms life...
2. missantroop
3. 黒装束の調べ - Melody dressed in black
4. 狂死曲 - Mad Death Rhapsody
5. 狂死楽園 - Mad Death Paradise
Act II : 狂気に満ちた殺人劇 - Murder play abound in madness
6. 白昼夢の惨劇 - Daydream Tragedy
7. 血染めの喜劇 - Bloodstained Comedy
8. オペラ座の悲劇 - Disaster at the opera house
Act III : 十字架の結末・・・ - The end of the cross...
9. 十字架の結末・・・ - The end of the cross...
10. パラサイト - Parasite
11. 廃人狂イ人形 - Mad cripple puppet
Act IV : 罪深き冥華と追憶の懺麗死儀式 - Graceful confession ritual of sinful dark flowers and reminiscence
12. Le MISERABLE
13. MOTHER COMPLEX
Act V : 魔鏡に映る呪われた罪人達と生命の終焉 - Cursed sinners reflected in the devils mirror and the demise of existence
14. 生命の終焉 - The demise of existence
15. Zwei 堕胎者ト盲目ナ中絶児・・69日目ノ阻害 - Zwei An abortionist and a blind aborted child.. termination on the 69th day
16. 「マリア」ガ眠ル懺悔ノ「柩」 - 'Maria' sleeps in a 'coffin' of repentance
17. 黒死蝶ノ花束 - Bouquet of black death butterflies
18. 追憶 - Reminiscence
19. Lucifer
to be continued...
I'd very much appreciate any help finding mistakes. D; Neither English nor Japanese is my native language and the lyrics are so bizarre it's not always easy. Please note that in some songs the imagery and scenes described are very graphic.
Hisui mentioned in Interviews that he started to write grotesque and apocalyptic lyrics after surviving the great Kobe earthquake that killed 6434 people in his hometown, including his girlfriend.

Replicant got a reaction from Seelentau in [Lyrics] La:Sadie's [Kanji]
Please note the lyrics are all gathered up from various places. I simply fixed a lot of the errors I found (there was a fair bit!), writing it up as printed on the lyrics sheets (thanks to this post and Naaaaani for taking photos of the lyrics!) This means that the lyrics may be sung a different way, but written as seen here, because as I found out while doing this, a lot of the lyrics floating around seem to be written by ear...
If there are still any errors, please let me know.
I spent far too much time on this because I was bored... I figured I'd share for anyone else who was interested.
Notes: I'm not posting lyrics from Lu:Ciel or objexxx because I don't have an image of the print lyrics to go off of to make sure they're correct. There's a transcription of 呪ワレタ楽園ノ影 I found, because on the tape for it, there's no posted lyrics; not posting that becasue I'm not sure if it's correct either. (I will post them if asked, however.)
還ラザル記憶… (Kaerazaru kioku...)
Fun Fact! On the 呪ワレタ楽園ノ影… tape, these lyrics are credited as the lyrics to 切断, and vice versa.
腐乱ユエニ… (Furan yue ni...)
生命ノ罪…(Seimei no tsumi...)
生命ノ罪…(Kuroi namida)
架空ト現実…(Kakuu to genjitsu)
[1] This spoken piece is correct for 生命ノ罪… release of this song, not in the 架空ト現実… DT. For the 架空ト現実… DT, this line is different, but it's not on the lyric sheet, either.
切断 (Setsudan)
Note: There is a spoken part in the beginning of the song, but it's not written on the lyric sheet. From what I've seen posted, it goes something like:
月ニ照ラサレル蒼イ顔ガ
僕ノ脳裏ニ焼キ付ク
地面ニ這イツクバッタ貴方ハ最期ニコウ言ッタ
「貴方ノ手デ『切断』ヲ…」
舞夢 (Maimu)

Replicant got a reaction from Tetora in [Lyrics] ZORO - 妄想日記 (Mousou Nikki)
Red string connecting two for us, who had a fateful encounter
Open the diary[1]
I write in today, tomorrow and always
A gentle smile to the gathering
That's what I can't hate you
Because you are popular
I'm willing to overlook
[*]Alone in my room
two lined photographs
I can see you three days later
longing and
I can't sleep today again
[**]Telephone number on the letter
I believe you will call me
Because you are so shy
Maybe you are too scared
Don't stare at me so much
We'll be noticed around
Our Relationship is secret
I'm the jealous type, please forgive me
I will pick through your garbage
You have another girlfriend
I want you to pay[2] attention only to me
No cheating
you promised me
I will keep you up all night again
silent phone calls
repeatedly until morning
[**]
[*]
[**]
Your voice, your body, your finger
Your Hair, your sleeping face
even your heart
I love everything about you are mine
People might make a fool of me, saying that is just a delusion
You don't even know my face...
---
Notes - This is a cover of SID's 妄想日記, but in English. There's a touch of Engrish, but it makes sense in comparison with a translation of an original. (Personally, this one sounds more like an obsessed girl versus an obsessed fan.)
Lyrics are from this video. I don't know if the typos are in the booklet lyrics.
[1] Originally spelled 'dairy' (typo?)
[2] Originally spelled 'play' (typo?)

How did we get this far without a single Psycho le Cemu PV not posted? Those guys were the kings of story PVs
As for the PVs already posted, I'd at least have to say that the Calmando Qual one doesn't belong in this thread XD Terrible production quality and it's pretty much just "band standing around playing in an empty room". Certainly not a story PV, at least XD

Replicant got a reaction from Tetora in PS COMPANY versus DANGER CRUE (GTFIH)
PSC:
Danger Crue:
For Danger Crue, there's a lot of artists, so I don't know who is still around, switched labels later or whatnot -- the label has been out a LOT longer than PSC (1981 vs 1999?), thus the more extensive list. I put the ones that were mentioned in the post I found, and I have no idea if this is even a full list of all bands signed to each label...
As for label vs label, I don't totally pay attention to that type of stuff. But the list of artists currently or that were on the two labels mentioned should help out a bit if making a decision. =)
