spockitty got a reaction from Gesu in Anyone know how to word a college dropout email? I poked around on the college websit
if you don't want to call the college admins or anything, maybe just write them an e-mail first asking what do you have to do to drop out?
when I was dropping out there were a bunch of forms I had to had signed before they took me off the list, like from the library and stuff~

spockitty reacted to colorful人生 in Since all this meming about whether Chick Fil A and Popeyes is better is going around
I mean, Chick-fIl-A chicken sandwiches are some good shit, and while they're a national brand, they're particularly concentrated in the Southeastern US. While brining their chicken in pickle juice and pressure frying create their chicken's unique flavor, they claim that they invented the actual "chicken sandwich" in the 1940s. It's an unsubstantiated claim, and hot chicken between two slices of bread certainly existed long before them.

As someone from the Southeast, Chick-fil-A is leagues beyond most of the fast-food options in the region when it comes to service and food quality. They invest a lot in integrating with their surrounding communities and are fast-food havens for the upper-middle class (who can justify the price hike relative to McD or BK for quality.) When I was part of my youth town-council several years ago, we worked exclusively with them for community events.

On the other side, Popeyes has been perceived a lot differently compared to Chick-fil-A, with deep-southern influence and a lower-class demographic (relative to CfA, McD is the most affordable tmk.) While their new sandwich comes at a premium relative to other items on their menu, having something on-par with CfA's "pride and joy" has stirred a lot of interest. It contests with CfA's cushy spot as "America's Restaurant".

There's, oddly enough, some "political" nuance to this related to CfA that I'm clearly dodging b/c forum rules. If you Google it, you'll find a ton of stuff.

As for my opinion, CfA's quality is pretty much the same nationwide, and they have pretty high ff standards (for both sanitation and food.) I usually seek them out if I'm on-the-road while traveling. That consistency is attractive to me, but local cuisines/"hole-in-the-walls" are always my first choice if I'm familiar with the area.

I've had Popeyes only a few times b/c they're not as common where I'm at, but they're pretty damn good as well.

Well I mean... It's making less money than it ever has while venues and shops are closing down one by one, and it's somehow even more culturally irrelevant than its ever been both domestically and abroad considering that there's the grand total of two bands who can actually tour overseas without driving the organiser to bankruptcy like what happened to _every single one_ of them in Europe. When X, Glay and L'arc are finally buried it's unlikely that the Japanese public will have any idea it even exists/existed. Sure it'll still be around but at the capacity of a vegetable hooked up to a respirator.

spockitty reacted to Duwang in these ~alternative versions of vanitas and 愛憎につき... in the live-dist single are sendi
Vanitas is a new thing but there's a story behind aizou ni tsuki...
Last December at the Metal Square event (Cazqui and Daichi's last live with Nokubura) they had really bad technical difficulties when they were about to play aizou, and since DIMLIM doesn't MC, Sho had to find a way to stall so he did an acapella version with Retsu making ambiance  with his guitar while Hiroshi was trying to fix shit but they couldn't recover in the end.
Pretty much that version of aizou is exactly what he did that day (plus adding in some yelling of "gomennasai" and other words of frustration) , though to be honest I'm kinda surprised they recorded it and released it. While Sho did a great job coming up with that shit on the spot and following through to the end, but that was NOT a good day for the band.
Maybe putting it on CD was a way for them to come to terms with happened that day, idk I can't say, but I do agree it's awkward to listen to. I think they should've added a little guitar at least.

spockitty got a reaction from Ruri in i havent been paying attention to vk for a lil bit while i was dealing with some ment
wellll, im probably not the best to take on the topic as I've been here all of two months and I, myself been catching up on 10-or-so years of vk BUT that said, here goes nothing, in no particular order:

    - DIMLIM lost two members (gt. and bass), and the world held its breath for a while, but they've just announced an album for December (as a trio) so we can all rest easy for now
    - nokubura's future is still unsure, as right after the single supposedly dissing the two lost members, their new guitarist was caught with marijuana ~karma is a bitch~
    - Despa's Hizumi is back doing some electro vk and everyone and their mother is salty about it
    - Yoshiki continues to be an asshole, hardly a news at this point, he made a 10mln yen donation to Kyoto Animation, which is all well and good if he didn't milk it for publicity to the last drop; he also met the UK royal family, unsure if it's related
    - Yumeleep lost a drummer and I'm not entirely sure which side is the general public on, since there was shade thrown from both sides, as far as I know, related to internal bullying (I'm not really a fan so dunno)
    - there's a new band around - MOTHER - and that wouldn't be anything noteworthy if it wasn't for their, let's say unique, promo campaign, check out their thread XD
    - also not strictly vk, but there are some additions to forum rules so also check that out I guess

    that's about for the stuff I cared to remember from the past 2mo ^^;

well yeah, if I search internationally I do the same, but believe you me, it wouldn't appear to anyone in my country to insert Japanese into the listing title :'D what is more, some shops' search engines don't even recognize kanji/kana as an actual language lol~

spockitty reacted to Himeaimichu in I just had a thought, are all bandmen so skinny cause they can't afford food for the
A lot of bandmen are much fatter than they'll let on, because of tight outfits, filters, photoshop, etc. But many of them are skinny because they spend what little money their indie label pays them (if they're even popular enough to get signed) more on vices than food. And then you have bandmen who are told to stay within a certain weight range. I remember hearing about how musicians signed to BP records aren't allowed to gain too much weight (similar to how J-Idols are restricted).
But yeah there are chubby bandmen, and you'll occasionally find some obese ones (one example that comes to my mind is that dude in GOKIBURI who never wore makeup and just wore sunglasses).

Tbf spending the money on vices (such as VK) instead of food is absolutely relatable.

no need to be sorry @Gesu! there's certainly a conversation to be had about this, I just wasn't gearing up to have one lol I was just looking at some rando bands' member skinny arms and a thought struck me.

ooook, so we're talking about this after all @Tokage. I can't really speak for vk cause I'm not really up to date on the industry inner workings, but if I were to assume that indie vk is like kpop trainees? totally believable that they literally sustain on ramen and cigarettes.

great, now  you've both killed my buzz, thanks guys! ❤️
