Crystal Lake have started crowdfunding in order to make this release possible. In just a few hours the campaign already surpassed its goal. The album will release on August 5th 2020. Crystal Lake's former vocalist Veron will be doing guest vocals. The album will be a compilation of 3 of Crystal Lake's early releases.

I definitely miss my younger days of touring and being kind of a careless idiot, but being older and more "stable" has its perks, too, I guess. Music has always been my most consistent outlet and the one thing I used to "define" myself for the better part of my life. I feel a bit more disconnected from it now, but being able to do anything at this point feels positive, whether it's recording new stuff or playing a random local show when time permits. Haven't really ever made any money off of it, at least not in any profitable capacity, so I can't much call it a career, but the length of my involvement with it sort of makes it feel like that.

Well...this is still a better artwork than the one in ULTIMA

I somehow always keep coming back to these guys, despite my initial dislike. Somehow they have that 'coolness factor' that they usually exploit pretty well, but less and less so recently (to me at least). I finally listened to the new single today and it's basically the textbook definition of being on autopilot (I can lump the previous one into this category too... or was it the one before that? ...it's hard to keep track when everything blends together :')). I found the title track a bit more decent now compared to when I first heard it with that amazing music video, but other than that only 15.2 grabbed my attention as being somewhat cool... but I even forgot how that one sounded now that I think back on it, even though I literally listened to it 2 minutes ago (no recollection of the other B-sides whatsoever).
 
Anyway, I'm not really expecting anything unrealistic from them or even anything different, so lowkey looking forward to the next release I will probably listen once and then never again, but still kinda enjoying it while it lasts.

I just remembered this truly iconic TV performance from 1995 where Imai just does not give a single fuck anymore and proceeds to switch between "look ma', no hands!" and tuning his guitar during the solo. Also some amusing flailing all throughout.

Maybe he doesn't particularly enjoy having to pretend to play to a backing track (I don't blame him, lol). It seems this has become somewhat of a running gag for him in the '90s btw, like this riveting guitar wizardry during Candy (even Hide checks out at the end of the solo). I also remember some tomfoolery during another 1996 TV appearance and an earlier occasion where both Hisashi and Hide pretended to play giant-ass sitars in a song clearly not arranged for that (it might have been Dress?), but I can't seem to find those on YT sadly.

I don't think he had any input into the album, given most, if not all of the music was written before he joined. The dude's been doing covers and drum play-through videos on his twitter for ages and he slays them skins.

I love VARIOUS but yeah you're right, especially with drums that doesn't sound like a typewritter 

I am very late to the party but since i listened to this album yesterday for the first time (2 times as of now) i wanna give my brief opinion as well.
Imo definitely still album of the year contender. The Only band they need to worry about is DEXCORE with their 1st full length. 
I only can say what an AMAZING album. Lots of variety and i think the rerecorded vocals for their 2 previously released singles are at least as good as the originals - really couldn't choose which version i like more.
 
But i don't see where the guitars sound repetetive... You get a lot variety here.
From the songs where the other members overtake vocals i have to say their guitarist was pretty nice and Issei definitely wins the cake. He sounds quite raw at some parts but he could easily also switch to full vocalist at any time with his current potential. Uta definitely tried but compared to their other members i would never see him becoming a full time vocalist in case he would like to - still very nice hearing him.
 
* The only thing which kinda irritates me *and i think its kinda strange that no one pointed it out yet...* is that the vocal pattern in アソビ i totally heard them before. I even got the "original" straight in me head but for the hell of it i can't think of the bands name where i heard it before...
 
Anyway as expected an outstanding 10/10 album for me.
 
* Now i finally remembered the song which the vocal patter from アソビ reminded me... It's from the 1st song of the 1st live limited maxi single from -真天地開闢集団-ジグザグ - 愛シ貴女狂怪性. 
But now that i figured that out i gotta say the similarities are SO SMALL that it for 99% can't be intenional if it is not even just me making things up.^^°
Although it would be pretty interesting to know what other people think about it...
