They should stop deforming the vocals through whatever program they use, sound really odd and ruins a lot of songs nowadays.

This is so sad.. Even though I  wasn't a huge fan except for a few songs when Bou was still active, they were like one of the- if not the most famous oshare/vkei band around back in the mid 00s. I wish them all the best.

I'm not in any way against new bands or the neo kei-sound, but it feels soulless and empty for me. Lyrics feel like trash and basic aishiteru-shit is just useless for me... I think there were better and interesting new bands and sounds until 2012-2013, or about so. I'm rooting and hoping with my heart for the good future of vk, but i also very openly wish for the honest revival of 90's sound and older bands. Even i wouldn't mind some bands copying bands in existence. *cough cough* 
We had some of those already.
 
Obviously the world is spinning and so is the world of vk, so we need to accept certain facts. Nevertheless we all have our desires and dreams with every genre  
The kind of metal scene is pretty properly represented atm, imo. Bands like DIMLIM and SARIGIA and many other hardcore stuff are cool to listen to, but there's something missing for me personally.

For me the greatest hurdle was always that these revival bands still carry a lot of the baggage from the scene's general development, with one of the best examples being Grieva who's indebtedness to newer vk bands always shone through under the surface ( not really in a good way either, their best tracks were always the most old school ones ). Although on the other hand with some bands this might have even been a plus, like Gossip who early on just played early Gazette but with a frenetic energy that probably wouldn't have been possible before metalcore made its mark in the scene; and in the same breath I'd call the almost equally recent nu-metal revival far more successful than the turn of the century one. Bands like Kuroyuri, early Dezert and so on who took that macabre 2003~ vk mood to a mid to late 2000's style and killed it for a hot minute, and I'd go as far as to say that the finest moments of, let's say early Dezert, were better than anything in that style post- MUCC's nu metal period maybe; whereas I'd be a lying man if I said that any of the not explicitly nu-metal bands came even close to their forbearers. Even the worst things from Syndrome's first period are in a whole another league, save for Metis Gretel who came in so early that I always forget they were  even a part of the revival moment. 
 
Listening now to the La'veil Mizeria PV song which is not bad, but it still has that ersatz quality to it that I just can't ignore. It's sort of the same, just worse.
 
 
 

I think the first bands of this 'homage 系' nature I remember were the likes of metis gretel and that was just around 5 years after the original era was over. So one could also argue that it never actually really died out. 
 
As for 90s inspired bands in general : it's great that they exist because I love the genre. (and I know I'm not the only one) however, I almost always feel something really hectic about the music of bands like la'veil mizeria or under fall justice or even metis gretel. Like they always play a little faster than the original, sing a bit more frantic. There is always some really overexcited synth melody playing in the background, too. The calm melancholic part is missing.

As for my music taste? I listen to a LOT of bands indiscriminately and am always looking for new bands and songs to listen to. Some favourite acts of mine are  RAZOR, Kiryu, Xaa-Xaa,  (since seeing them live, they totally blew me away), DADAROMA's early stuff, Arlequin (unironically), POIDOL (also unironically), DIMLIM (Vanitas sold me) and I still love a lot of songs and albums by the GazettE and MEJIBRAY, since they got me into this genre! There's so much to love about visual kei, from the music to the visuals it's great that there are communities celebrating it... and making fun of it, and all that good stuff. (Although apparently being 20 in the visual kei instagram community makes me a Bonafide Old Person... who would have thought...)

Er, what else? I play the bass... and I like long walks on the beach AND I'm occasionally mediocre at both introductions and intentional comedy.

My last concert was RAZOR, Xaa-Xaa, DADAROMA and Grimoire in Osaka, this May. It was my first visual kei live and I was honestly not disappointed. My expectations were low after so many negative live reports but... wow! RAZOR were spectacular (Ryoga was exceptionally physical and charismatic,  also a great vocalist live which I was not expecting admittedly), Grimoire were good (but  not my cup of tea), DADAROMA were having some really bad luck (techincal issues,  Tomo seemed really mad but they pulled through!) and Xaa-Xaa... were a million times better than I expected them to be, honestly the highlight of the entire night. Every member of the band was musically on point, the singer's vocals were the best of the whole night and the songs were all fantastic. !00% converted.

I've decided to make a profile since I've been reading posts here for years. I've been into VK since  2006-2007(I was 12-13 back then, I'm almost 24 now) and I still listen to it 24/7, nothing else, haha.. Also been to a few concerts (when bands use to come to The Netherlands which they rarely do nowadays). VK was also an outlet for me to dress feminine and eventually start hormones/surgeries(5-6 years ago). I use to dress up (inspired by a few bandmembers) and live my life like that, haha, but I'm kinda basic now clothing-wise.. I'm more into the early VK era now (90s) but mainly 'cause I've listened to almost all the 2000-2012 stuff and didn't pay the early era's much attention until 2012. I'm not so much into the newer era.. You can check my likes-playlist on youtube: thewebsweweaved to check out what I like(I listen to more VK bands through cds etc, a lot of stuff is deleted on youtube). Maybe someone here has suggestions so I can check 'em out. It's hard to find people that like the same music. It truly is a big passion of mine and I can't describe how much I love the sounds, vocals and unique beats of some songs. Sorry for my long ass intro and thanks for reading to those that did.. x
