They have some incredible songs. There's a raw emotion to mejibray, sometimes it doesn't get translated well into their music, that's when you get the worst of them. But when it hits, it hits HARD

The Gazette a rip-off? Well, I get that some people won't like them and that's ok, but saying that they are a mere 'rip-off' speaks of literally not having anything in your ears out of a massive necessity of identification with A so you need to hate B in order to love A.

That said, whether liked or not, and although nobody can't deny that they still have their flops -in terms of uninspired works-, the Gazette actually DID their job and seated a precedent in a majority of the 'formula' that defines modern and also classic  'visual-kei' sound, visuals, lyrics, etc., like a few artists did. Same goes for X, Luna, Kuroyume, L'arc, Rouage, Laputa, Malice Mizer, Pierrot, Shazna, Dir, Nightmare, Mucc, Sid, baroque, Kagerou, Antic Cafe, Kagrra, Deluhi, Kiryu, Nocturnal Bloodlust, and a long -LONG- etc. including and every band that has some status of cult-following.

Just stop hating freely and try to listen carefully to the artists that made the bands you like to happen. And if you don't want to, that's ok, but try not to sound pretentious.

It feels better as a package, sure, but when you start picking it apart, it starts to show the same issues as the full-length. Messy compositions, unnecessary out of range singing, guitar-wanking solos just for the sake of it and Mio sounds even more like a pterodactyl in places.

Despite it all, I still love it to bits, same as Jingai, but more so for what it could be, not so much for what it actually is.

123Sandman321 reacted to Komorebi in Ghostwritten songs, "idol kei" and VK industry of the late 2010's
    1) Not like there's proof in VK, but the speed at which some bands pump out releases and the repetition/overuse of riffs and other elements can be a sign of ghostwriting. Also, when you see kids in the scene who aren't that good playing on stage yet are credited for what they play makes me wonder if they really did write it.

    2) I think the whole scene is idol kei now. The way bands are put together, managed and marketed is very idol-ish. I'd say VK bands that are less "idol" would be those who put out releases less often, don't focus their sales on cheki and spend more time touring than doing fan-meet events.

    3) When was the first instore? Not sure when VK evolved into what it is today, but I'm sure it was a while ago.

    4) What is good music? I think there is good music and bad music in VK, just like in any other genre. And personal enjoyment does not atone for quality. I may not enjoy Morrie, Sukekiyo or Kiyoharu's works, but it is undeniably good music. Whereas I may like a lot of indie artists I consider to be musically mediocre. All in all, if I didn't enjoy VK I wouldn't be here.

    5) VK does not rely that heavily on the music genre to survive. As long as there's scantly dressed pretty men wooing teen fans into spending their yen, the "well-being" of the scene is preserved. As overseas fans, we focus mainly on the music, because it is really all we can focus on, out of all VK has to offer as a scene. In Japan it is slightly different. You could enjoy the social experience, the fan events, the fashionable aspect, idk.

    6) Because I have shitty music taste? LOL. I can't remember how I even got so hooked on this scene. It gives me versatility in a way many western rock artists don't. Bands don't always stick to a genre and blend a lot of styles to find their own. I don't know much about music theory but I know Japan uses a distinct... scale? for writing their music and I find it pleasant to my ears. I also tend to focus  a lot on bass and vocals. For the first, I've found more interesting bass-lines in Japan than overseas, where it tends to be a filler instrument. And for the latter... Have you seen those "sounds just like Ruki" comments on various YouTube videos? Well, they do, because Japanese men tend to have a similar vocal range that just happens to tickle my fancy. There's also the thing that with Japanese I can easily ignore corny lyrics because I simply do not fully understand them. I don't look them up either, I can live without knowing if I'm being insulted.
I come from the pop/rock scene, never really went through a western punk/metal phase in my teens year. I grew on 80's rock and 90's pop and I got used to catchy sounds accompanied by guitars, and it's what I look for in VK; poppy choruses with clean vocals and harsh instrumentals + lyrics I don't have to feel embarrassed about. Something that western metal and pop often fail to give me. The visuals aren't really that important to me, since I never watch PVs, but the androgynous beauty pleases me a lot when I do want to watch it tbh. As a big plus, I greatly enjoy the whole VK culture in Japan. I gotta say I love going to a small gig without being pushed around by huge dudes or drowning in the stench of weed and going to instore events and such.

From what I understand based on the tweets of the Japanese fans - at the DELUHI reunion it was said that:

    - JURI, back around Deluhi's disbandment time, was having problems with his throat/vocal cords and needed treatment (which he eventually got, but it took time - thankfully he seems ok now!). At that point however singing was challenging/painful...

    - LEDA wanted to replace Juri because of Juri's problems with his voice and started looking to recruit a new vocalist with the intention of firing Juri from the band WITHOUT telling Juri any of the above or discussing it with him. Leda intended to keep Aggy and Sujk.

    - AGGY did not agree with Leda's approach of going behind Juri's back and it also seems they had some disagreements about Aggy's bass sounds being replaced so Aggy announced that he would quit. At this point ALL MY RESPECT GOES TO AGGY - he took the blame of disbanding on himself, did not discuss any of this "dirt" in public or create negativity around Leda in any way, and he apparently did not tell Juri either of Leda's plans to fire Juri. It looks like Juri found out about this much later and apparently Juri has flat out refused to do a reunion a couple of years in a row when approached by Abe-san and Leda. It is said that he had eventually forgiven Leda and agreed to do the reunion & Aggy agreed too. Ultimately the amount of mean comments addressed to Aggy all these years is unbelievable!! He was blamed for ruining Deluhi and what not...when it wasn't even his fault...

    - SUJK - not sure what his position was regarding all this, but he has always seemed to get along well with both Juri and Aggy. The pics & videos of him and Juri posted by Abe-san around the reunion are super cute!! And there's also a pic of Sujk wearing a breakin' holiday bracelet with Aggy.

DELUHI - though they have all grown up, I personally do not believe Deluhi is coming back... I dearly love their music, but to me Leda has ruined the trust between the memebers - not blaming him in any way... just saying.. he was young and made a mistake.. we all do... it seems he does regret it but nothing can be done at this point. With FED he got a new vocalist and a new bassist - they had potential but imho Leda has carried over some of his leadership attitudes and he also had a ton of side projects diverting his focus from the band. As for BREAKIN'HOLIDAY - after the Deluhi reunion both Juri and Aggy have posted a tweet clearly stating that though they are grateful to Deluhi, they are now to be considered Juri and Aggy of breakin'holiday. I personally find the band very enjoyable, Juri's voice is wonderful, they are experimenting with their sound and style, it's interesting to watch them grow as a band. They are super active social media and post a ton of off-shot stuff.

In the end, I wish them all success, to all ex-Deluhi members, to all soon to be ex-FED members and to current breakin' holiday members. I truly believe they all have their strengths and talents but they are also all people and people do mess up sometimes....

That's all I had to say - just wanted this to be out there.

Anything post Gamushara, that gives you 3 mini-albums. EVIL MAD SCIENCE, URGE and LAMENT. They had some passable songs even before, but they were spread too far inbetween all the trash, especially on their first album, so...no need to bother picking through the garbage, when you can just spin the actually listenable stuff.

You guys really gonna exclusively stan "Inhale"? I'm also in the camp who never enjoyed FED as much as I hoped I could, but the track is 50% boring djent fuckery. I admit it has an amazing solo, but that's the case for almost every Leda track. I'd pick something like "Beyond These Walls" over "Inhale" any day-- and "Beyond These Walls" still has semi-cringe verse vocals..

@TheStoic brings up an excellent point about the recording sound/mixes, but unfortunately, I think that is a problem with Visual Kei across the board in 2019. The sound a lot of us may be yearning for when we think of DELUHI is partially intertwined with 2000's production techniques, that have been left in the 2000's. Oh, real-sounding drums, where art thou?

Leda was suuuuuch a monster musician a decade ago, between Crimson Head, Galneryus, and DELUHI-- let alone how much he's progressed since. I'm just hoping in the next chapter he gives all that talent the setting it deserves. Better vocalist, better sounding recordings, and less trying to be like Animals as Leaders when you have the melodic charisma that Animals as Leaders doesn't.

I just wish, they won't give all the songs the same technical deathcore treatment. Sena's guitar-wanking is getting rather stale.
