  2. So I saw them at London last night and I went there not knowing what to expect as I had only listened to TIW and a handful of songs spanning anywhere from their early eras to more recent, and I must say it was the best live I’ve ever been to!

Highlights for me we’re opening up with Zetsuentai and also the power behind Kyo’s vocals during Ranunculus, he doesn’t perform it using clean vocals like it is in the studio version, instead he opted to sing it with powerful harsh vocals that really give the song some oomph and gives it an edge over the studio version! Values of Madness was also surprisingly well pulled off, I find the studio version to feel...somewhat empty? But live that song hits hard! I feel bad as I wasn’t able to appreciate the older material like Merciless Cult and Kodou as I hadn’t heard them prior, however I still enjoyed them nevertheless and found them to be great, energy filled songs! 10/10 would see them again and now I need to buy their whole discography!

And a big shoutout to @nullmoon I had such a good laugh and some great conversation! And he also filled me in on the songs that I didn’t know of! 😂

Don’t know what they expected. If they’re pushing for an international audience, renouncing VK isn’t it.

    There are basically four camps:

    1) Those that will only listen to VK, because the aesthetics are slightly more important than the music.

    2) Those that mainly listen to VK because of an interest in the scene, but who wouldn’t stop listening if a band dropped their image, if the music was still good. Won’t seek out non-VK bands regularly .

    3) Those that listen to all types of J-music as long as it’s good. Doesn’t care one way or another if it’s VK.

    4) Actively avoids VK, either because “it’s gay”, or “I hate the fandom”. Won’t listen to a band that used to be VK either, because of fandom crossover.

So basically, there’s very little reason for a band to drop the “VK” label, especially in the foreign market.

I agree with this, I’m definitely number 2

  4. The promoter for the São Paulo made a fb post saying half the tickets have sold which I’m genuinely shocked by! They called DIMLIM a VK band and I bet Retsu is screaming

tbh we need more stans like u but I'm just really pissed off they're starting the revival cash-crab with something lacking any effort

if this was preceded by a single or a mini I maybe would've considered something off this list

I agree that their efforts to big up this revival has been disappointing, we’re getting the release of the memorial box in a few days via littlehearts and then these best of’s...it’s not great atm

However, I am speculating that they’ll probably announce at least a single at their anniversary live and maybe that they’ll be releasing the anniversary live on DVD/Blu-Ray

EDIT: I think what would’ve been a good addition to the personal collections is if they threw some of their demo tracks from 2000/2001 on their just to give that 20th anniversary vibe

  6. So I just finished listening to the album and it's fairly decent, nothing strikes me as amazing in this album, it's just decent. The tracks 'Tick Tak' and 'out of the darkness' were high points for me, also track 3 (can't remember the title) impressed me. I don't think there was a track that I disliked, sure some could have been better, and their lack of a bassist is so, so apparent in some songs, the song 'Lament' feels somewhat empty because the bass is barely audible, then in some tracks you could hear the bass but it just didn't sound authentic, I reckon if there was the use of an actual bass on these songs it would have made a difference. I found the SE '+&-' to be utterly pointless, they could've just let 'What's up?' flow in to 'For the future'. Finally a little side note, 'Do' from Kidoairaku would've fit well in his album imo

Overall I'm okay with the change in direction, I'd still go see DIMLIM live if I got the opportunity, I just hope they find a way to merge this sound with the sounds of CHE DO A RA, as I think they're better at making metal than this kind of stuff. I'm gonna give the album a few listens throughout the week and see if my opinions change on the songs though

The second half of the album waaaaay outshines the first half IMO

Interestingly enough I felt this way with CHE DO A RA too (except for aizounitsuki which is brilliant)

Im gonna listen to MISC. when I’m actually awake enough to process it 😂

  8. I had a thought earlier about DIMLIM’s change in musical direction and it really got me wondering

I’m assuming I’m right when I say that the large majority of DIMLIM’s fan base consists of metal fans, will this change in direction mean they will lose a huge chunk of their core audience? And should they worry that a loss of that audience will be a disadvantage for them if they can’t manage to build that fan base back up or increase the number of fans? That thought still makes me slightly worried for the band

  9. After listening to the previews, I’m not so worried about this album being a flop. ‘Do’ was my favourite track from Kidoairaku and I do like that these tracks follow a similar formula. However like I said earlier I wish there was still a hint of heaviness spread out here and there. Lament is probs gonna be my favourite track I can feel it, I don’t feel like ‘What’s up?’ should’ve been the song that got an MV

  10. I wanna buy the physical copy even if it’s bad, but that’s because I can’t stand having just purely digital music I need physical releases!
