Just going to go ahead with the consensus of yeah, variety is the spice of life and would have been nice to have here. The lack of Malice Mizer actually really confused me. Poor choice of samples, poor choice of YouTubers to expose this to, definitely set up in a certain way to illicit a very specific reason from the people watching which is a little unfortunate.

lmao, at least one guy seemed to enjoy it quite a lot. The girls were kinda spooked, lmao (but the DADAROMA PV is quite scary though xD).

starting off with insanity injection was literally the weirdest decision ever, like god i'd be terrified at first too lmao

i certainly agree with the idea of exposing the youtubers to different sub-genres of vk. like i was expecting metal and then something cute or uppity like purple stone or kiryu. i guess the exposure is good for the bands they chose (besides the gazette) but wtf those were some weird choices indeed, i thought they'd choose bigger bands with varieties of sounds.

They should have shown them 90's VK like Malice Mizer, then 00's like the Gazette or Alice Nine, and then showed them something from the past few years. that way they could of gotten at least a bit of an idea of the different eras and sounds that are associated with them.

This was still hilarious though, it's so obvious that none of these people are music heads outside of mainstream radio crap other than the guy in the Pokemon shirt... he actually seemed to have some knowledge and it's pretty funny how into it he was XD

I'm not sure if you guys have seen this already/if it's been posted (did a quick search and didn't see any posts), but check out youtubers reacting to visual kei. I'm pretty sure I had some similar reactions when I was first introduced to it haha

    From the article:
"My first initial reaction when I saw this was, “Poor guys, they think these are girls.” The amount of times the referred to them as “she” was simply too many. Also, judging by the general reactions, it seems clear that none of them even listen to western metal (except for that one guy that liked all three bands, shout-out to him!), so I think it would have been better to include some metalheads to get some more neutral reactions.

Furthermore, after it was explained that visual kei does not pertain solely to metal, several said they would consider diving into visual kei if they found something more to their style, so I think it would have been better to include some of the more mainstream and pop bands, like UNiTE and Alice Nine, instead of just showing them the heaviest bands they could find. It was clear they were seeking for one specific reaction, which was that reaction of shock and disgust towards the breakdowns and harsh vocals."

I agree they probably should've included other genres of music within visual kei to get more variety, but oh well.

Nah isn't that bad, it's just the name, dentistry is more difficult (I also studied that for 3 years but obviously didn't finish it) and yeah like all the college/university carreers have some difficult things.

My all time favourite VK band is Dir en grey, I like panic channel and kyokutou girl friend too, they are like my "trinity" haha

Sometimes I feel like I'm too old for vk, but then I go to a gig and see grandpas and grandmas headbanging and jumping around with everyone so I figure I'm still good haha. I tend to fall out of the vk scene when I go back to the states and feel further from the bands I love, but when I come back to Japan the excitement is there again. It's like @ぺるしゃ猫said, it's a lot easier when you're living in Japan and can be a part of it all. It's also easier to find new bands since you can see like 5-8 bands in one night.

As far as shitty bands forming recently, I'd say that I agree, but I think shitty bands/artists are popping up in all genres of music. I figured that's just me getting older. Don't all generations think that their generation of music/tv/everything was better than newer generations?? lolol despite that, usually I can find something that interests me ^^

The overseas fanbase is very different, but if you've lived in Japan and attended a bunch of lives/start going regularly then you'll know that this article is actually kinda accurate on. With a humour twist to it, obviously,

It's not so much exaggerated as it is rarer cases of the worst side of the scene. This is not every fans experience but I've heard of it all happening over and over again through the years. The website themselves takes things and spins them in a comical or absurd light, so that is important to remember. They picked the horror stories on purpose.

Wow I really like it! I don't really listen to this kind of music, but I might have to start!
I listened to some of the older things you posted too. I could totally see your music being used in a TV show or game or something.
Semblances of stories form in my head when I listen to it... you should get together with an animator and make a short film!

OMG. If you ever rip that dvd, I would be eternally thankful to you lol. All of my favorite songs were played during those 3 lives, the set-list is badass.

Yeah Inazuma was badass, loved that single. I also enjoy their days as Dice & Joker (I own the album). Always loved the moto they put at the beginning of their career : Mental disorder to be the basis or something like that. I swear that their songs always helped me in life, and will always.

Rentrer en soi has a lot of good songs. Their best-of album contains most of them! If you ever want to re-listen to them, I can always suggest some songs.

What about 9GOATSBLACKOUT? The song 690min is purely amazing lolz. Anyway, we can chat in inbox if you prefer =O.

Yeah I've heard of Rentrer en soi. I don't think I ever got super into them though. I think I was too obsessed with Gazette at the time haha

I bought the limited edition DVD for the last few lives they did before hiatus... is that different than the live-limited DVD?

Favorite song is... difficult to say.. so many!! haha. hmm.. top five (in no particular order) are maybe KILL THE KING, STARLESS, D.9.N, FLASH BACK, and Peggy-O.... but I also love Life of Sorrow, Cynical and Adrenaline... yeahh.. lol How about you?

Just looked up Para:noir and D.I.D. They basically have the same sound... which makes sense if it's mostly the same members haha. I'm loving the bass in Para:noir's Merciless sorrow! Not really the vocals that I'm usually into, but they sound pretty good ^^

Wow I was really surprised when I looked up Galneryus! His English sounds so good! haha I'm liking what I hear so far!

Heyyy it's been a while since I've been part of a forum. I randomly feel really nostalgic for Anti-Pop (was anyone here active there when it was around?) and did a search for jrock forums and Monochrome Heaven popped up lol.

Anyway, I've somehow managed to get myself to Japan and have been living here for the past three years. Even though I've been on my own in a foreign country for so long I still don't really feel like an adult haha
I basically just go to as many lives as possible :DD at the moment I'm super obsessed with TRA TRA TRA although I can't seem to find anyone else who's half as interested in them as I am T_T

Here are some bands I like for those of you who are curious:
    ★ the GazettE
    ☆ TRA TRA TRA
    ★ ALSDEAD (on hiatus)
    ☆ SCAPEGOAT
    ★ xTRiPx
    ☆ RevleZ
    ★ GYZE
    ☆ FEST VAINQUEUR
    ★ Crossfaith
    ☆ EAT YOU ALIVE
    ★ DELUHI
I’m always looking for new bands, so feel free to suggest any!
