After many months of struggle I can finally walk without my cane.  Things are not perfect yet, but I call it a win!

I'm asking this question out of curiousity.  I've come across numerous people in the past who have told me they pay significantly less attention to solo artists as opposed to bands.  But at the time I never asked why.
 
How do you feel about this?  In rock music, are solo artists just generally viewed as inferior to bands?
 
Note that I do NOT mean a full-on rock band vs a singer-songwriter (singer and acoustic guitar).  A good example of what I mean is a solo artist like Gackt vs a band like The Gazette.  Generally rock-band style instrumentation, both of them.
 
In some cases, I'm sure it is because that fan was a fan of that solo artist's band before they became a solo artist.  Or maybe they just think bands are more interesting, or somehow more legitimate? Assuming a band and a solo artist are in the same genre, does this "bands are cooler than solo artists" idea hold any weight whatsoever, or is it just some strange stigma?
 
I don't believe so, but I'm really interested to find out others' views.  For example I love Gackt, but I have little interest in Malice Mizer.  I love Motley Crue yet I also love Vince Neil's solo stuff.  I'm a Billy Idol fan, but I'm not so interested in Generation X.

They really are relaxing. I could do literally anything while listening to their music —be it reading a book, doing some homework or simply just concentrating on the music. It's a brilliant album imo even though for some mysterious reason it didn't seduce me after my first spin. Now I love it. And I agree, the strong moments are really that strong.

I find their tunes almost relaxing and have fallen asleep to them a couple times at night.  As a whole I like it but I have a couple complaints, I feel that some of the tracks are a little long with some dull moments, however when they go all in boy do they go all in. When fen goes all out it is glorious

These guys are solid. Having a dedicated bassist really stands out. Will hopefully be able to pick up this album 

Finished watching the LOTR trilogy for the 353525th time yesterday and boy, it's incredible how these movies were so ahead of their time. I'm always amazed at how the CGI is still so good and looks incredibly well done even after more than a decade. Chills all over my spin during every fucking damn scene too. One of the greatest trilogies in film history, ever. 

Jesus fucking christ, thank fuck this band exists. The new album is phenomenal, and I'm pretty sure I'll be spinning it a lot this year. The bass work with this band is always incredible and I don't think there's much more to say, just check it out as soon as you can. 

As far as black metal recommendations go, I'd suggest for you ( and everyone else ) to just go through all the important bands chronologically, and I mean more than just the Norwegians, if you haven't done so already of course. It doesn't really matter if you like them or not when you develop a good frame of reference and a fine palette as you're doing it. Wikipedia probably has all the essential listed, if one is too lazy to google. 
 
 
 

I was hoping you guys could help me out and recommend some solid Black Metal bands. I started listening to this band Ungfell, and they are terrific.
 

Currently exploring some oldies and playing LOTR: The Two Towers on Dolphin. The last stages of this game are fucking impossible to beat, I don't know how I did to get to the last level as a kid. Great game though, absolutely enjoyable even though it pisses the shit outta me lol.
