  1. 3 member bands can work, but you gotta have a bass at least. And it doesn't have to be a full on bass guitar, an octaver pedal will work just fine (that's what the White Stripes do), but it has to be something to provide some kind of low-end, because just guitar and drums sounds horrible.

Even a pre-recorded bass and rhythm guitar could work, but no amount of filler will change the fact that the band doesn't even have any energy live anymore.

Isn't "kayoukyoku" a Japanese term used for refering to J-pop?

Kinda. It's basically a term for Japanese popular music from the early 20th century. I actually prefer the term "Ryukoka", for the kind of music Angura bands play, since that term more describes the kind of music that was the prototype to Enka and had Eroguro themes. The most popular Ryukoka artist arguably being Haruo Oka

  3. I agree with @Jigsaw9. Just basically be a Kayoukyoku or Ryukoka Vkei band that wears uniforms and is obsessed with Eroguro,

Much like actual Ryukoka and Enka artists in the 1920's (From what I've read), Eroguro was pretty popular and influential to the Japanese music scene in the early 20th century. I've even found a Japanese Kayoukyoku collection CD that was titled "Ero Guro Nansensu" for sale on CD Japan or something once.

So I would define it by bands such as Guruguru Eigakan, Inugami Circus Dan, etc. Although Inugami has less Kayoukyoku influence, they're basically part of Angura by association.

However, I do agree there is a lot of traditional Japanese elements, but it's not the same elements that Kiryu or Memento Mori use. In general, Kayoukyoku, Ryukoka and Enka music is just traditional Japanese music, but on western instruments. It's more of the general nature of the music they play. During the era where these genres were popular, Traditional Japanese Music hadn't declined yet, and it was still popular to listen to Shamisen and Koto music, so it's natural that a lot of that kind of music would influence the popular genres. Bands like Kiryu however are more influenced by straight up traditional Japanese music, and its reflected in how they write their music.

Although I've heard the term "Chikashitsu Kei" to refer to Guruguru and Inugami, idk how proper of a term that is.

  4. With Trap Beats, I kinda realised, it's not the rhythms themselves I hate. I hate the drum sounds themselves. The Hi Hats are too front and center. I find the kind of hi hat sound used in the early 2000s way more pleasing to the ear than the irritating ones used in modern Hip Hop.

Like, for example, I really like the beats to Confessions Part 2 by Usher, because even though they have the triplet hi hats, they dont sound up in your face and annoying.

Basically, if trap producers used better sounding drums, I'd probably like them more.

That's Hotaru-chan. You can watch him building it here:

Yeah I had originally confused the two lmao. I originally thought Chucky was Hotaru lol

  6. So it's no secret Suicidal Tendencies was very influential to Visual Kei. Everyone knows 90's Visual Kei has punk roots, as well as thrash metal roots, and that combination was Suicidal's bread and butter. This is an example I noticed recently of a Visual Kei song taking inspiration from them.:

Furan Yue Ni by La:Sadie's seems to have taken a lot from Subliminal by Suicidal

As a bonus I'll throw in Byou Shin by Dir en Grey. There are probably even more examples, but I'm only a very casual listener to Suicidal (I've been neglecting them for so long lmao)

If he's being violent/abusive and you feel threatened by him (and your partner's mother), I think the best idea would be to call the police. I know it might seem a bit drastic but if you're this worried for this reason, it's better to do it sooner than later. I understand if you don't want to because I know there's a fear of being hurt if you're found out for having called them and I would probably actually talk to someone in person about calling the police so you can get some support if you think that may happen, but I think the police know how to properly deal with this kind of situation.

If not that, at the very least, I would try to sit everyone down and tell them all how you feel. Either way, I don't think it'd be healthy to let this go on for much longer.

If you want to DM me about anything, you can. All the best ❤️

Calling the police would be dangerous though since I'd have no place to go, and it would ensure my partner's parents kick me out. Plus, the police in this town kinda don't like my kind. I definitely will if he actually throws a punch or attempts anything to any of my pets. Right now, my focus is primarily surviving until my friends get their new apartment and my partner and I can move in

But yeah, we can PM about this!

  8. So this is gonna be a lot to explain and I never thought I'd be going to MH for this, but my partner's mom is having her friend stay over for a while. He's in his 50's, and he thinks because he's older than me, he can parent me, treat me like a child (he even refers to me as a child!) and blatantly disrespects me and oversteps my boundaries. I don't think I can reason with him, since he acknowledges he's an asshole, and is proud of it. He's also very stuck in his boomer ways, as he thinks it's ok to hit children and animals. He's also in general kinda violent, and since he's got here, my partner's mom has been acting more violent, as she's been starting fights, and threatening to hit the cats and calls them mean names now. I'm actually afraid both of them would try to get violent with me and my partner, since they believe in spanking, and still see us as children. He also misgenders me and can't even be bothered to remember my god damn name. I'm always referred to as "what's his name". Aimi isn't that hard to remember, but ok. Oh, and I can't just up and leave, I don't leave this place for another few months, so I'm kinda stuck with him until one of us leaves.

In short, he's a piece of shit who treats me like a child, and it's not my say in whether he leaves or not, and my partner's parents really like him. So... what the fuck do I do? I can't leave yet (I move out in a few months) so I'm pretty much stuck with this trailer trash piece of shit, who I'm supposed to have sympathy for because his partner died. Should I even attempt to tell him he's overstepping my boundaries?

Oh and a little bonus, both of us are disabled, but he thinks my disability is invalid because I'm younger than him.
