Pros: easy to find new bands, can listen before you buy and so on. And the sheer amount of bands gives you countless options.

Cons: the sheer amount of albums being released makes it so hard to keep up, and to find a proper diamond you basically have to check out a lot of albums because everything drowns among the amount of albums. And I don't feel like I have as much time to give albums the time they need to truly shine.

Back in the days, way before I had internet, the way we bought albums was simple: we bought magazines with reviews and after a while we got to know the tastes of the reviewers. So we knew who was matching our tastes in music and not. So if an album got a proper good review we'd go out to the music stores close to us and give a few tracks a listen there, and then buy it if it sounded good. And then for the next weeks that's the album(s) we'd be spinning on repeat. It was fun, but at the same time we did buy a lot of albums that gave off a good first impression, but we ended up getting rid off. Felt like such a waste of money. Nowadays that just doesn't happen to me, unless I just buy something blind which I do every now and then. Because that's a lot of fun, but sadly too expensive.

This is the same as with movies, video games and so on too. Same shit. When we bought, or even rented, movies and games back in the days we ALWAYS saw/played it through. No matter how bad our first impression was we watched or played the entire thing through. Sometimes it payed off, other times we felt betrayed.
    '

And another pros is that feeling when I discovered new albums/bands back in the days before I had internet. That is a feeling I do not get anymore at all. Like. Not ever. But back then it was something quite special, because it was also so rare to find that one band that changed everything for you personally.

Good first post by Euronymous and a very interesting subject of matter. Because there is no doubt things have changed hella lot over the past 10-20 years.

need a full album ASAP , i'm hungry for their music.
those singles and b-sides were awesome, but not "nutritious" enough

yea, there's also the whole message of the lyrics,of course,
but i think that showing the act itself in so many MV's can be very destructive, mostly to the ones who face this dark issue.

It goes with the topic of the song: torment and torture of a twisted 'love'.

In this case, I also think it's a mildly political statement on the current suicide rate and state of mental health, but how most people still seem to completely turn a blind eye to it/refuse to acknowledge it. THE GALLO isn't a stranger to political themes in their music (WWI/II are common topics throughout lyrics, and also the lyrics of 帝都四号魔水路 and ZIZ).

Just my thought though ( :

well speaking of ethical stuff i'd say vk is promoting it not even like self-halm is normal but like it's cool. like if you do it you're so mysterious and miserable and g0th. but let alone this aspect of the issue, i'd like bands to show some creativity at least lol

I'm always intrigued by a new Gravewurm album, but I always try to keep my expectations beneath the roof. This is one of those bands that just keeps giving, but they're more about quantity than quality. 15 albums since 2000, as well as a few EPs and tons of split albums. If they've taken about half the tracks and released half as many albums we'd have 7-8 brilliant albums, but instead we have 15 albums that's uneven as fuck. Never bad, but not always amazing either.

This album does sound very good tho. Imagine Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Darkthrone and Nunslaughter having a baby. Pretty cool band, just too uneven.

Italian doom Abysmal Grief is already 22 years old,so you guys probably heard them before.
Just played this randomly, with zero expectations, and god...it blown me away. The intro track certainly sets the mood for all the giallo movies/horror/doom/gothic stuff that is coming upon you.The keyboards and sound effects were used and abused on this record, and i think it's quite difficult to do it without sounding like some cheap halloween movie soundtrack, but that's definiitely not the case here, all the effects provides a very "cinematic" feeling to it and fits perfectly. The viollin on the first track is simply the most brilliant and well executed thing that i ever heard in a doom metal album before, the more i kept listening to it more it started spreading out like a fog, making a very oppressing atmosphere.Impossible not to imagine yourself running from a living dead corpse,or lost in a old vampire castle, it just sucks you in and it's almost impossible to scape. The whole instrumentation is just perfect, prominient bass and a nice combination of black sabbath-y and doom riffs crawling throughout  the entire record plus acoustic passages and samples in between, and the vocals certainly portraits all the drama in it.
This album is a 10/10,no doubt!

Euh...I really hate those opening breakcore treble heavy beats that every band seems to use and I skip. Reminds me of when DADAROMA started going into the toilet.

Video looks good, Ai's voice sounds unique and I love it as always, and though I prefer his low growls personally I don't mind the screeching so long as bass will balance it...
But, I REALLY hope this is just a one off that sounds generic musically. Like others, if this had a different vocalist it would be indistinguishable from 262548 other bands and I'd give up immediately.

It's only a short sample of one song though, so gonna believe just 1 more time lol

    Things I hated:
-That kind of blast beats.already seen them a lot in vk and it doesn't fit at all.
-The bad growls that reminds me Mamireta's mediocrity
-That effect for the chorus was unnecessary
    -Too colorful,too poppy,too menhera-kei ,I expected something darker.

    Things I liked:
    -MV was very well produced
    -The track sounds polished
    -Eargasm with Ai's voice

Not gonna lie,was kinda disappointing, but that's only the tip of the iceberg, need to check the single as a whole.

Good albums indeed, but this has nothing to do with brutal death metal tho. Sounds like a mix of doom influenced death metal in the vein of Autopsy and Coffins, and Swedish death metal in the vein of old Entombed, Grave and Dismember. Ossuarium also carries some Incantation influence. But I do agree with you. Good recommendation for sure!

Brutal death metal is actually a sub-genre of death metal that sounds very different from this. Classic examples are bands like Dying Fetus, Skinless, Gorgasm, Internal Bleeding and more. Personally I am not a big fan of brutal death metal with a few exceptions. But it's pretty popular actually, which is a bit of a surprise to me. But I think one of the reasons for this is the mix of fast, brutal and relentless riffing and drumming with groovy and catchy breakdowns.

I can assume they're taking the place of Karasuna Mei to fuyukai no tomodachi (and by taking place I mean just reorienting to this look/name, I suppose) at AREA on 5/6. I'll try to do a live report and write up my thoughts on their set (though hoping we get some music prior to that date)!

I can't see this as being of interest to anyone on this forum, but this shit needs to be posted. Lord Gore recently got back together after having disbanded in 2006 and released a new demo. Death metal/grindcore tracks in the vein of Impetigo, Blood Freak, Mortician and so on. Just spun it and it sounds awesome. So nasty!

    clean production,cool intro,awesome growls,bombastic chorus,great solo,an emotional video
but i gotta agree with @yomii . i feel like MIO is going too far with his clean singing
but the rest...god they are already miles away from some metal bands that have been on the road for more than a decade.

Detriti records is a German label (if i'm not wrong) they have some really interesting releases
if you've been looking for some fresh stuff related to dark synthpop/coldwave/post-punk
    highly recommend these tracks.

god this is probably how Ian Curtis would sound like
if he had survived time enough to form his own dark synthpop  project

This one below is the side project from the vocalist of the spanish and phenomenal post-punk band Belgrado
really cool shit, the beats are hypnotic and cold, with her robotic and smooth vocals floating around
