テツ finally played without his neck brace during the encore. Finally! Hopefully during the next tour he'll be able to play some concerts without it. And maybe by 2018 he won't need to wear it ever again. Here's hoping.

Aaand the official website mentions a late summer release for the new album. So around September, then? That's my guess.

So close. September to February, huh... I don't really know how long a typical tour lasts, is this too unusual? Given that MERRY love touring? Still waiting for you to be proven right about the rest. Although, surprisingly we haven't seen their 15th anniversary live on DVD yet, so it could be that too?

Don't take my word for it tho ^^  On the irrational side, clumsy as the title is, I'm actually excited we have a title in katakana again?

They'll probably announce their new album tomorrow. It's not a bold prediction, but.... yeah.

Anyway, you heard it here first, folks: my prediction is that the new album will come out in August, with 13 songs + a bonus CD with live material and a DVD version with 10/12 songs from Tokyo Spring. Plus, they'll announce a nation-wide tour until September. Tour Final happens in November to celebrate their anniversary.

They will also hold their nationwide tour, "システム エムオロギー" (system m-ology), from September to February 2018 to commemorate the album's release.

It's hard to pick just 9, and these aren't necessarily my favorites now, but I think they've had the most impact on my musical tastes.

    Depeche Mode – Violator
I love 80s music (and the 80s in general), and this album is everything I love most about it, especially at the turn of the century when it was released. Even making a top 9 list of just 80s music would be difficult, so I’m just leaving it at this.

Tori Amos – From the Choir Girl Hotel
This album got me interested in music as more than just something to listen to in the car/on the radio. Lyrically it’s amazing and covers a wide variety of topics that have stayed, resonated, and continue to resonate with me.  The MV for “Jackie’s Strength” is stunningly beautiful, especially at the end.

    Ayumi Hamasaki – Duty
This album got me into j-pop. Whether you love or hate her voice, Ayu’s real talent is as a lyricist. Her (older) catalogue has song for just about every mood imaginable. Sadly her recent stuff is somewhat of a stain on what is otherwise a solid career. :/ It was hard to decide whether to include this one or Hikaru Utada – Distance.

    Malice Mizer – Merveilles
This album is what made me dive head first into visual kei. I had never heard anything like it and the visuals and melodic rock totally reeled me in. Although the album sounds rather dated now, the concert recording for this album never gets old.

    Kuroyume – Feminism
Ugh I just love everything about Kuroyume during this period. This album really shaped my taste in visual kei. “Love Song” and “Kuchizuke” should be way more popular than they are. Lyrically and thematically this album is solid through and through.

    Plastic Tree – Träumerei (Toroimerai)
This probably isn’t their most impressive work, but it’s an album I can’t help but keep coming back to, even now. This might be my favorite song off the album, but it changes every now and then:

    Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
    Purity Ring – Another Eternity
    Mitski – Puberty 2
These albums pretty much sum up my current taste in music. I like that a lot of artists now are drawing inspiration from the 80s and meshing it with other genres. I would have included St. Vincent – St. Vincent on this list as well, but unfortunately I feel like it needs to be heard live to truly appreciate what a masterpiece it is.

*o* I still regret not going to see them at Jrock Revolution, that's so cool that you were there! I loved getting to see them so much. I really embraced the furitsuke so there were a lot of parts I couldn't see because head banging but the whole thing was indescribable. They played some songs I didn't know well, but they also played several classics (and Chiyoda-sen Democracy, which is my favorite of the recent singles!) and the acoustic version of Tick Tock! Seeing Nero play up close was incredible too, and all the wonderfully goofy faces he makes~

Hello everyone! I found this forum looking for information about some new bands. I was really surprised because it seemed like Visual Kei was not popular anymore, so I felt like I should join! I first became interested in V-kei in 2005 when I did my first study abroad, though I stopped looking for new bands a few years ago. My favorite band is Merry. I got to see them live for the first time last month in Nipponbashi and have tickets to see them in Tokyo again during Golden Week!

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning about some newer bands. So far I've started listening to 0.1g no gosan and Xaa Xaa, as well as learned that many of my old favorites are now disbanded. Sho ga nai.

I used to be a member here at some point but I can't remember how long ago that was tbh. Maybe some people I used to go to lives with back in the day still use this forum and we can get back in touch.

I'm an ex-bangya/obangya in my early 30s. I "quit" the scene after most of my fave bands broke up, but since Psycho le Cemu got back together I've been going to a lot of their shows. My favorite v-kei bands besides Psycho le Cemu are Kuroyume, BUCK-TICK, PIERROT, and (older) Plastic Tree/Dir en grey.

I got into visual kei through Gackt/Malice Mizer when I was in early high school. Everything was so ~dramatic~ back then, I swore I'd marry Kozi someday, and I remember my BFF and I ugly cried when Malice Mizer announced their hiatus, wondering what the hell we were gonna do with the rest of our lives. In those 15+ years that have passed since, I relocated to Tokyo, became a bangya, got married (obviously not to Kozi, sorry to disappoint my teenage self lolz), and then settled down in the countryside.

As for upcoming lives, I'm going to see PLC at Studio Coast this Sunday and PIERROT/Dir en grey's Androgynos two-day live at Yokohama Arena in July.

Greetings, or rather hi again. I was part of this community about 5-6 years ago. I was somewhat active until I just kind of disappeared and forgot about it.
Anyway I still follow a few vk bands like Merry, cali≠gari, Plastic Tree, Liphlich, Kaya, and Xaa-Xaa. I try to follow auctions and webshops to find new artists, though I can honestly say it's harder to get into the newer bands.
Asides from that, I'm a university student that's a fan of indie and metal in general. Lately been into the French metal group Eths. I'm also hoping to graduate with a degree in conservation biology soon. So that's about it.
I look forward to participating and becoming part of the community again👍

Mine was Merry and they are still my favorite. I was an exchange student in Shizuoka City in 2005/early 2006 and spent a lot of time in CD stores in the downtown area. One of them had a little thing set up in the J-rock/V-kei section that let you listen to 5 new singles/albums and the first time I tried it out, the nu Chemical Rhetoric album was one of the 5 and I fell in love before the instrumental/intro track finished. By the time I returned to America, I had in my possession the standard edition of that album, Modern Garde, the limited edition of the SCI-FI nu Chemical Rhetoric DVD and several Fool's Mate/Arena 37'C magazines with them featured. From reading the artist thread on here, it seems like this album isn't well regarded but I still absolutely love it. The DVD is my favorite (with the original White Sheep live in close second) and I love their visual style, costumes and makeup from this time period. <3 It all just holds a very special place in my heart

During that time I also got into Gackt, L'arc~en~ciel (but I really don't consider those two V-kei, even if Closet Child does sell their stuff), Pierrot, Gazette, and Malice Mizer.

Downloading western music: log into rutracker, download the band's entire discography in flac in just a few clicks.
Downloading japanese music: search each album individually on MH, jpopsuki, soulseek, rutracker and random brazillion blogs, then spend half an hour finding the rar password and fixing the tags only to find out the rar was corrupted.
