    Coffee is part of my daily routine no matter what but it's gotten to the point where it doesn't really boost me as much as I'd hope it does. But you know I do like a good tea. Especially the gossipy kind. JK

      @colorful人生 It seems as though vk has died down even from how small it was before I stopped following. But Im surprised with the quality of bands that are out and about these days.

    This is an interesting topic and is being discussed more maturely than I had anticipated. From my experience and interests, I used to despise K-Pop. But it is a lot of fun if you like it for your own reasons. I would even go as far to say as the Visual Kei fandom is quite similar but on a smaller scale due to how large or small the communities are. Both focus around liking sub-cultures and, while not all of them, most listen exclusively to groups that fall with in those sub-cultures. I, myself, listen to a lot of different things as of late. Not just Japanese or Korean music. As for the fandoms, toxicity is not unique to the kpop culture, it exists just as prominently in the visual kei fan base as well as any other other fan base. Kpop groups charge high prices for meet and greets and concert tickets, while Visual Kei groups host in store events that require you to also spend a lot of money to get a ticket or to be able to meet/have a photo with all the members. In Visual Kei there are fans who follow exclusively one band, and in Kpop there are fans who follow exclusively one group. There are crazy obsessive fans in VK and in Kpop but both also have communities in which people have met really close friends and made memories together that are priceless. As for the music, that's really left to the individual. One may say all kpop sounds the same while another says all visual kei sounds the same. As much as we'd all like to defend our favorites and say that Dir en grey or BTS are so original, it's just not that true. In todays day and age and how people really learn music through the influence of other musicians, there is no one artist who simply picked up an instrument and made something that wasn't at least similarly done by someone on this earth filled with approximately 7.5 billion people. It's more so about being genuine with how you use music as a universal language. That's just me. But I'm sure if i had the time, I could find a lot more lesser known garage bands or bedroom DJs who make more genuine music than a most of massively known artists, but it would be impossible for one person to find them all. So instead of thinking of originality maybe just look at it as "Does this speak to me? Do I vibe with this? Is it genuine?" and just follow what makes you feel good. Do I think people just like Kpop groups for the hot boys? Absolutely, but I also think the same about some fans of visual kei bands. For some people, the music does come first. I'm quite picky when it comes to either side. I have an acquired taste and I know what sort of feeling or vibes I like. Mejibray was really popular, but I just couldn't get in to them musically. TXT is really popular, but their music didn't really vibe with me. It just depends on the person. My last final opinion, based on my own mistakes, denying yourself from listening to something because of the other people who like it... I don't think that's a true opinion of your thoughts on the music regardless of the genre. If you like something, you don't need to partake in the culture of it to enjoy it.
  8. There's a few that I missed out on seeing. The biggest one being Jrock Revolution. I was still in my teens then so my parents were pretty strict about letting me go places. The other is Girugamesh when they came to Sakura-con. I was actually working at the Hot Topic they did their meet and greet at but my last day was a week or so before they came to town and I had moved back to California.
  9. Despite the show being really good, it did feel very short. Shorter than the last time they were here even. Also my personal opinion is that it's worth it to do VIP once but $200 for a quick handshake is a bit much. I mean I paid for it mainly to be upfront with my friends but considering how short the set was as well. It was a good show but I'll probably hang in the back the next time. (If I go)

    Photography is still going for me, but recently I took up water coloring.... by recently I mean yesterday. This was meant to be Taehyung from BTS, some kind friends said they knew right away it was him... but to me he turned out looking like a blue haired sad guy.
  12. I miss GALEYD. ;___;

      @monkeybanana4 @Wakarimashita The saddest part is aside from Nikky and Mekus Kamijo endevors, Toki has been in some sessions bands? Idk about recently but he seems to have fallen off Twitter. And Garo probably retired and I’m sad he was one of the best vocalists I have ever heard. Oof big sad mood guys

      @togz Oh, no! If that's true (Garo retiring), I'm also really sad ;w; He was such a unique, amazing vocalist and I was quite looking forward to hearing him come back! His talent will truly be missed T_T So unfortunate to hear about Toki as well 😕 At the very least, I hope he's doing well in whatever endeavors he's involved in.

      Garo joined that weird ramen band, singed there for a while and then left to oblivion... No news about Toki.

      I am still mad at Meku for being Kamijo's slave.

      Sad. Very, very sad ://

      Mathilda are great. I recommend them for sure. Not their latest single though since people seem divided on it.

    I want to say i agree with this.... but honestly looking back.. it was me. I was the problem. I was really closed off and I was too scared to ever let anyone get really close so in the end (90% of the time) I broke up with them because I felt like they'd break up with me. I don't know that I'm meant for relationships.... but i've finally gotten over that 'I'm sad and I need someone being single sucks' hill. If I am meant to be with someone it will happen whether i choose it or not... So I might as well focus on my mental health first to be ready for when i meet that person.
  22. I went to some college for general education for like... a semester. I had never really decided on a major. I dropped out anyway. So I started going to cosmetology school, dropped out of that too. I've just been working since and building my way up the managerial ladder. But I have always had a longing to go to school again. But I don't think I will because of the cost vs pay back. I just really like learning new things. So I'm majoring in : adulting Currently working on my Masters.
  23. I think this really depends on the family and upbringings though. No one family is the same. For me... absolutely blood is thicker. I think it's more common for 'friends' to make broken promises and come and go as they please. My family and i may have had some hard times, but I love them and I would do anything for them and vice versa. That's the thing for me... My family are also my friends. Community and togetherness is important for me, and I have yet to find the same support or community outside of my family. On the other hand, I know plenty of people who are not as fortunate to have such a tight knit family or a family that believes in strong support morals. So it's really subjective.
