Also, I started as an 'electronic' child, listening to many mixes, so I got used to long songs/mixes. LIDL 692 Posted March 27, 2011 long songs, only will be good if it's composed throughly. or else it will sound so tiresome to hear. some good long songs often developed nicely, from intro, verse 1,2,3,4,5, coda, to outro. but some other that are bad having too much repetition, either the riffs, or chorus so it doesn't really enjoyable but sounded a 3 mins songs stretched into 10 mins. also i need to note that so many long songs having parts where riffs took 2-3 minutes. It needed lots of skills with the instruments, or else it will sounds really annoying. I don't find so many good long songs in VK. But there is some good numbers from J-rock or J-metal in general. some of my favourites, of course Vinushka, Ware, Yami Tote... and Macabre by DeG some other has been named, like Mutyumu. For Western, most of things that Dream Theater ever conceive is pure gold for me. Also, new favourite, Turisas - Miklagard Overture There is some more, but i forgotten. Will post more later. If I can finish the song before I get there, it's not "long". I left only the most awesome of the awesome long songs from my already awesome list to post. Keeper of the Seven Keys had made my original awesome list but I decided to cut it to not make my list so stupidly long. Number Girl 48 Posted March 29, 2011 Boris and Kekal probably make the only long songs I actually enjoy and even then, I really only listen to the songs in their entirety when I feel like having background music or something - I don't really *immerse* myself in every second of it. I enjoy long songs that are really atmospheric and soothing, but I generally find them boring and unnecessary. Long songs I ESPECIALLY dislike are certain instrumental power metal songs (deedle-deedle guitar solo that goes on for about 7 + hours) and "songs" like the crap Akita Masami makes that is just electronic farting noises on loop. My attention span is short, so I like 30 second - 1 minute songs that are really chaotic and crazy bursts of energy as opposed to drawn out, epic works. His songs Stella and Write Once, Run Melos, which are about half an hour too, are also awesome. The longest song I've listened to so far is Heliogabalus by Rorcal, 70 minutes of Doom/Drone - hard to get into but really intense. Other favorite long songs of mine: -Condor & River by Her Name Is Calla -Most long songs by Envy -Burial At Sea and The Battle To Heaven by Mono -Past Midnight by The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble -Pulse/Surreal by Lantlôs -Sur l'océan couleur de fer and the two parts of Écailles de lune by Alcest -Suicide Season by Bring Me The Horizon (tell me what you want, it's amazing) -Zu Träumen wecke sich, wer kann and the whole Durch den Traum album by Dornenreich -He Films The Clouds Pt.2 by Maybeshewill -Like It's Your Last by Devil Sold His Soul -Prayer by Mutyumu There are a lot more, but those ones are the first that come to my mind.
