YuyoDrift 1540 Posted February 16, 2017 Hahaha my favorite was Alice Nine (A9) as well. Akatsuki was my shit, that I had recorded it on a blank Cassette so I could play it in my shitty car stereo. Good times. 3 efuru, TakaGacktHyde and Euronymous reacted to this

Gauze was maybe the first VK album I heard and I fell hard for it. It is still one of my fave albums after all these years. Songs like Cage and Yokan are un-fuck-with-able in my book (not to mention Kyo was so dreamy in the Yokan video). 3 jaymee, vanivani and Euronymous reacted to this
Euthanasia 333 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Started of with X Japan, around 2004-2005 and then I turned into a huge Dir en grey fan not so long after that. c: Still a Dir en grey fan, but not that extreme I was back then c_c Favorite song will always be Kasumi. violetchain 912 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) L'Arc~en~Ciel, if that counts. I got into them right around the AWAKE album, so those songs and parts of the live DVD from that era are totally seared into my memory. I used to sing along to the live video of "Trust" in my bedroom using printed out romaji lyrics, because there was only one PC in my house and I had to share it with my dad and sister. Good times. The best part was, almost immediately after I started liking GLAY slightly more than L'Arc, that Jack in the Box collab with Hyde, Teru and Takuro happened, and I was super excited to watch it. I remember feeling super underwhelmed by Hyde's version of Yuuwaku compared to Teru's version of Honey, though. Seemed like a sign. oxbxjxe 39 Posted February 16, 2017 L'Ar-en-Ciel, Siam Shade and X Japan. I got into them around 1998 because of some anime songs. Then I had another cultural impact when I first heard Malice Mizer, Dir en grey, Kuroyume, Lareine, D=SIRE, etc... 1 Euronymous reacted to this

plastic_rainbow 2162 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) first and eternal fav vk band is baroque (2001-2004 ofc). i first found them on youtube by watching their Ila. pv. all their songs are great and there isn't one that i even remotely hate.....i mean, aside from stuff after 2004. i still cry over them lots, but that's also partly because i don't like the current baroque and miss their good old days :'< Edited February 16, 2017 by plastic_rainbow
Himeaimichu 1535 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) I got into CrowXClass around 2014, when they still were a thing, and not only did it get me into VisualKei, but it also got me into metal in general. I then came across Memento Mori once in like mid 2014, while they were still active, but I never got into them until 2015, which is when I found out they reformed into Kuroyuri To Kage, which today is one of my favourites. I also got into Kiryu in 2015 with their song Amaterasu, and I fell in love instantly. And to this day, Kiryu is still a favourite of mine. Some other bands I came across in 2014-2015 were OZ, ACE, Deluhi, Kagerou and Guruguru Eigakan (though I didn't really get into the latter until 2016) A lot of my favourites I've known for some time, such as Cuartet, which I've known since 2015, but never got much into until last year. My entrance into the scene is much more recent compared to other people, and I pretty much only got out of my newb phase just recently, so I don't have too many stories to tell. Other than that pretty much Memento Mori's albums really had a huge effect on my taste in VisualKei. cvltic 1482 Posted February 16, 2017 i'd been into various vk bands prior to finding 12012 (brief love affairs with Deg, Kagrra, pre-Taste of Chaos D'espa) but they were my first true teenage-hormone filled bandom loves, complete with fighting people about them on lj, like you do. i remember being SO upset when Clash Against Commercialism was cancelled because it was going to be my chance to see them. then Wataru got into his scandal and tearily read tanuki despite barely understanding it and thought my life was ending because they were probably going to disband... soon after i got a clue, became thoroughly grossed out by Wataru's existence and all the other stuff i had read/heard about the members, and disillusioned by their change in musical style, so i dropped them. i specifically remember listening to aitai kara... and thinking i couldn't even pretend to like it, lol. they did get more interesting again w/ Shinichiro but i was just so done i didn't really care. Tomo is still a fine piece of man tho
seikun 317 Posted February 17, 2017 Hmmm, probably Malice Mizer. Back in 2003 when I listened to Illuminaty for the first time that song got stuck in my head for weeks.
