Persona 5, I think I am 16 hours in and judging by the achievement progress, I am only 10% in WTF. I played persona in the PSP and a full first playthrough was 80 hours. This is gonna be slog fest as the tone of the game already feels like some anime marathon.

dude you have no idea. I've been playing since launch day. 110 hours. Lvl.70 still haven't beat the game, I'm at the end of December. the game is fat as fuck,  it just keeps stretching on and on. Still one of the best games I've played in years, totally worth the wait. the topics get pretty heavy and this game is definitely of a more mature tone and setting than 3 and 4.

settle in.

Finally got through the prologue of Nier Automata and got the first ending of the game. Really solid Soundtrack, Atmosphere, and Gameplay I liked it. Now to decide between either Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX (I've never played a kingdom  hearts game) or one of the tales of games. I've come to really love Action Jrpg's.

I fucking did it people. 115 hours, 75 levels , 3 months and 12 days later and I've finally beaten Persona 5!  Jesus fuck. I have never been so glad to haven beaten a game before... It was marvelous and such a engaging story, but my god did it drag on. I say all of this now, but in reality sometime ion the next year I will probably start new game+ and work on the platinum and max social link run, but still for the time being I am so happy to be able to play something else :D

and that something else is a little game called NieR Automata <3

Congrats

I had nothing better to do and there were forest fires outside so I grinded through this over the weekend and now 60 hours in with like 2 in-game months to go I think. I am probably more excited for ng+ since I wont have to grind for the stats and just focus on confidants.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness

Playing this on Vita.. it's also out on PS4 and I can tell it was optimized for PS4. The text can get really tiny... Anyway, I think this is based on an anime, I don't know anything about it.  Only bought it because I wanted to support visual novels on Vita.

The concept is very interesting.. cyberpunk-ish sci-fi about Japan 100 years in the future. Don't want to explain it, it's complicated. I've already gotten a few endings and I'm not sure how I feel about the actual story. The big "twist" was HEAVILY telegraphed from almost the beginning of the game, so I was not surprised at all when it happened.

Also, to get the platinum trophy, you are required to grind out points in a Threes/2048-clone minigame. Weird..

Zero Escape series

Finished both the Nonary Games collection and Zero Time Dilemma. Not sure what to say about ZTD. I was not a fan of any of the new characters, except maybe Carlos was ok. I found the graphics to be rather ugly. Plot-wise, definitely had a few WTF moments. It was a fun ride for the most part, but was left somewhat unsatisfied by the final ending. Felt like another "to be continued" kind of thing. Also, about that freaking dog...

Spoiler

I was convinced it was a robot for the entire game. What kind of dog acts like that...

Other stuff I completed but don't need/want to talk about..

Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God

Reine des Fleurs

Lara Croft GO

Tropico 5

Right now I'm on SNES/PS1 ROMs and light PC gaming with legacy titles (Vanquish/Bayonetta/Indies). Most of the time I'm on the go with my Mac Air, so emulators work very well.

Any legacy titles you recommend?

I'm struggling to remember what I played on SNES emulator. It's been a good 15-20 years since then..

Aside from re-playing the shit out of Final Fantasy VI, I think I enjoyed Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Seiken Densetsu 3, Sailor Moon RPG, Breath of Fire 1 & 2, Bahamut Lagoon, Dragon Quest 5 & 6, Super Mario RPG, Front Mission, Tenchi Muyo..

Some will require an English translation patch, not sure how easy those are to find these days..

(and yeah, I abused the hell out of cheats & save states)

I'm not sure what he/she means by "legacy titles", but the mentioned Chrono Trigger is a must for anyone into RPG, and since we're already on the subject of RPGs and Chrono Trigger I just can't post this without throwing in games like Secret of Mana, Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, Secret of Evermore, Terranigma, Breath of Fire I & II, The Final Fantasy games for SNES and more. A list is of super RPGs for the SNES is almost fucking endless, and this is just a small portion of it. A few games.

It also help sthat all of these games have brilliant soundtracks.

And if you ask me the SNES is the best consolle ever, by a fucking mile. Destroying every other consolle made both before and after. Miles and miles ahead.

And using save states and cheats have always been a big no-no, even as a kid. Whenever I save ingame I usually also make a save state just in case, but I never use a save state unless I can save ingame as well. This is so important for me when playing games.

I've started the FF XIV Free Trial since I'm broke and it will stop me from investing too much if I get addicted. Loving the character customisation so far!

Started playing Gravity Rush on the PS Vita. I've owned the game for years but never played it until now, idk why (well, I also bought P4 Golden at the same time so I was busy playing that first). Anyway, Gravity Rush has one of the coolest gameplays ever and it's fun to try and master all the tricks with the gravity controls. I lose my sense of direction pretty often though since I'm just flying in all directions most of the time lol. I had trouble controlling the gravity slide too, but am getting the hang of it now. Just gotta make sure that I hold the handheld straight up or otherwiseI can't make good turns. There are also some really cool environments with lots of tall buildings for you to stand on, either to view the whole city or to roam all about.

I've been playing FFXII The Zodiac Age for a couple of weeks now and oh I'm loving it. I've played the original FFXII on PS2 some years ago and this new remastered version is pretty much everything I've ever wanted. FFXII is actually one of my favorite Final Fantasy games (yeah, judge me all you want but I genuinely find the combat system really fun, the characters well-made (well except for Penelo I still can't stand her she's so damn annoying) and the story interesting XD) and finally getting a pretty amazing-looking remaster of it has made me very happy. Though I really  need to mentally prepare myself for the fight against Yiazmat again when I get to that point (if they haven't changed it for this version and made him easier anyhow, I'm not actually sure). I remember the fight took me eight freaking hours when I played the original game on my PS2 and when I finally beat him I swore I'd never ever fight him again lol. Seriously, whoever thought it was a good idea to give Yiazmat fifty million HP deserves a kick in the butt.

Going to say it's been worth it, so far! The game has got some beautiful environments, and the characters are pretty interesting. Played all weekend and I haven't even met my waifu Martina yet.. In-game clock is at 20+ hours, but that's definitely inflated.

I named the hero "Hime-sama" (Princess), because yes, I am pretending he is a girl dressed as a boy. He looks girly anyway. (But now it's a bit awkward cuz one party member calls him "Hime-sama-sama" and another says "Hime-sama-chan")

Pros

+ JUMP BUTTON with (unintentionally?) hilarious stiff animation and sound effect. Of course I abuse it by hopping around endlessly.

+ When the hero investigates pots and barrels, he just does a "FUCK THIS THING" move by picking it up and trashing it. As if breaking it is the only way to look inside it. What a psychopath. By the way, "horse shit" is something you can find inside. Dunno if it has a use.

+ Super nostalgic, with classic monsters, music cues, and sound effects. Also has the usual puff-puffs, false yes/no choices, small medals, casino (tho I haven't reached it yet)

Cons

- No voice acting, which seems odd for a modern-looking PS4 game.. (I got used to it tho, and now use my imagination to make voices for them)

- Music is apparently midi/synth-quality, seems to be recycled from previous games, and gets repetitive. The composer is a super old douchebag. I just started to turn on youtube videos or other music while playing (unless there's a cutscene).

- There is a skill point system, but I feel like progression is reaaaally slow because you only get 2-3 points per level, and some skills require like 10-20 points.. hopefully they eventually give more points per level..

I'm finally playing Resident Evil!!!!! (the first one on a Gamecube emulator) I don't know how long ago it was but I tried playing the original PS1 version and gave up instantly lol. Then I never got to playing the remake version because I didn't have the console for it. Little did I know how easy it was to run a Gamecube emulator so that I could play it. Wish I had done it sooner! Anyway, I'm playing in normal mode and man, it's still so hard..... Dx Feeling tempted to restart in easy mode, but hrmmm I think I'll take up the challenge and see how far I can go.

Also, anybody else here have a backloggery account? I don't know what people use to keep track of games they play/own but I like to use The Backloggery. It's quite simple to use and I recently updated my profile theme cuz photobucket messed everything up. Here's my account.

I beat Silent Hill 2 today. I think the game holds up pretty fucking well, even despite some of the jank that seems to come naturally with the survival horror genre. Honestly, the combat and voice acting are the only questionable parts. Everything else is g o o o d (esp. the soundtrack, the original four Silent Hill OSTs are the only ones I got on my PC at the moment)

Just started Ever Oasis and I'm really enjoying it! It's absolutely adorable and a fun mesh of a bunch of different genres all rolled into one.

The only problems I'm having with it is the way they have managing gear set up... it's a little confusing at first.

Currently playing lots and lots of CS:GO (who would say such old timer game could hook me up so hard after so long...), Some Fallout 4, which I'm finding way too similar to F3, and to be honest, if it wasn't for the interesting world set up, I'd probably have already given up by now. The gameplay is too clunky to be satisfying. Wish the series would return to 1 and 2 roots...

Also, there's a nice little game on steam for all you Megaman X widows out there (summoning @YuyoDrift) called 20XX. It's a procedurally generated Megaman X, basically. Nice upgrades, great music and most importantly, TIGHT controls. Check kotaku's article out: http://kotaku.com/20xx-is-a-procedural-mega-man-x-and-it-feels-perfect-1797965399
