Pretsy 1343 Posted June 25, 2013 @DogManX: It's an alter-ego act, sry to blow your bubble also: Buck-Tick - National Media Boys (1990) (post-solo part) Kuroyume - Autism -Jiheishou- (1994) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK7A8QcrQ0g&t=2m35s (post-solo part) I guess variants of that part have been overused in many solos... melmo382 9 Posted June 25, 2013 The end of Dir en Grey's Mazohyst of Decadence ( ) is similar to Buck-tick's Kirameki no naka de (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwbKQUb_5Zw)
DogManX 179 Posted July 11, 2013 @Rez DUH The intro theme sounds like the intro of cannibal corpse's "sentenced to burn"
Pretsy 1343 Posted July 27, 2013 http://youtu.be/Zwn0MefXCK8?t=1m55s Malice Mizer - Illuminati http://youtu.be/jbV7-6Giy5I?t=2m30s X Japan - Love Replica Both have orgy/BDSM-ish themes in PVs, also the way those "naked" people gather around Gackt is similar to those of Hide's
keyinjpop 89 Posted July 28, 2013 Jaejoong's Mine sounds like it ripped off L'Arc~en~Ciel's Daybreak's Bell (and some other rock bands). Jaejoong's Mine L'Arc~en~Ciel's Daybreak's Bell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1m3-yMcVJs
YuyoDrift 1540 Posted August 4, 2013 Ok. So my brother and I were browsing some Visual kei PV's and stumbled across a PV from Daisystripper called "Uso to Kagero" Now I KNOW the background music in the chorus is from another song, but for fucks sake we can't remember the damn song! Calling all VK OG's! Help us find the damn song they took that music from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp9xx8PALuU '
TheBistroButcher666 228 Posted August 4, 2013 I've definitely heard that opening melody before. Otherwise not any help at all. Ohhh and that venue seems to be a common place to film PVs.
bonsaijodelfisch 328 Posted August 4, 2013 as for opening and chorus instrumental part, it sounds very, very power-metal-ish. something that galneryus would do. i've heard it before too, but i'm not very familiar with galneryus's discography, but i'd start searching there first... YuyoDrift 1540 Posted August 4, 2013 Now, just for the record, I am not accusing them of plagiarism. I know it's hard to come up with or even enter a new genre of music without being accused of ripping off some other bands' style or melody. I love the song BTW. It's just that the melody the plays along after the chorus has been eating away at me all night. So I haven't rested much. I know I have listened to it before, or else why even bring it up? I can't (for the 10+ years of listening to Japanese music) pinpoint the exact band this melody came from. I feel like a newbie....

Zeus 7997 Posted August 9, 2013 I'll periodically be merging topics that go along the lines of "this melody sounds familiar" into this one. Makes life easier and then maybe someone can help out.
Pretsy 1343 Posted August 23, 2013 the Gazette's FADELESS sounds too much like Luna Sea's Sweetest Coma Again in many parts. So yeah, appropriate place for this post.

elias 178 Posted August 30, 2013 "Missa's '奇櫻の宴,' The Piass' 'G-Gas~,' and another song by The Kiryu (I can't remember which, for the life of me) have this same oriental melody to it. I've been dying to know where it comes from." hey Seraphim, that melody is a traditional japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakura_Sakura) Ruellia also used it:
Pretsy 1343 Posted August 31, 2013 "original" (2007) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuIh0MNXhOc (2012) You will notice it during choruses Oh, and the bassline in both songs seem to be lifted off Iggy Pop song? Hahaha.

Pretsy 1343 Posted September 1, 2013 ^ I was pretty sure that GD wouldn't rip off some basic oshare song. So yeah, I can hear the source for both. Makes sense in overall Oh, and as I mentioned, Kuroyume's "Happy Birthday" bassline is pretty much "Lust for Life" as well
LIDL 692 Posted September 3, 2013 Them touring travelling around Europe and USA usually might spark something out too But most probably they got their inspiration from video games and ultraman lol
Pretsy 1343 Posted September 9, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6p4iN3T2Hg The Gazette's Agony has a drumbeat that is way too similar to Korn's Wicked cover, also: the excessive usage of similar whammy-high guitar parts. You might call it "an influence" but I gotta post it anyway.
Zeus 7997 Posted September 20, 2013 I found another song that uses a very similar riff to Luna Sea's G. It's more subtle than Dir en grey's attempt but I still had a deja vu moment sitting on the bus listening to this song. -OZ- - S.I.N http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLmirzcDsfQ

Peace Heavy mk II 7200 Posted November 21, 2013 Was this taken from somewhere? After listening to another one of their songs, I'm really surprised a relatively no-name 90s vkei band wrote songs with as complex a structure as they did.
Lestat 2167 Posted November 23, 2013 Not really VK, but the intro riff is just a classic rip-off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdfemU_9UYE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAzqSYQ9X9U
Bear 1817 Posted December 13, 2013 Rosenfeld - B/Crows in Black http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAqT-KHO7Ro X Japan - Blue Blood Pretty similar, isn't it? They were both active around the same time in the 80's, both being early VK and stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if X Japan heard Rosenfeld first, and either intentionally or unintentionally wrote a very similar riff. It's a great riff and I would written the same if I could.
