i'm usually pretty bad informed what releases are to come, but here's what i can recall (some of it isn't really announced but is bound to happen):

 

DirEnGrey (obviously) - the unsomething

heaven in her arms seems to have a new one up their sleeve

the ocean - journey to the bottom of the sea

periphery - juggernaut

black sabbath - 13

barrows - (they've been recording as of late, something is on the horizon)

clutch - earthrocker (although pretty much already out)

g-dragon - new solo album

psy - new album (expectations will skyrocket through the roof, it'll be interesting even if just for that )

exo - some sort of comeback

Most of the albums I was looking forward this year already came out, just a few Japanese release left (new DIR EN GREY, lynch, MEJIBRAY, GazettE). The only non-japanese album I can think of is Alone Aboard the Ark by The Leisure Society.

 

But I guess I just don't know whether my favorite bands will release anything this year or not.

Where did you hear about Animals as Leaders having a new album?

 

Misha has stated on his facebook that he is working with Tosin on new ASL material. His exact words were, "Tosin Abasi and I have been hard at work on the new Animals As Leaders material. Six songs down so far!"

 

And Volumes (another awesome tech progessive djent band I recently got into) released a photo of themselves working with Tosin and Javier. I'm guessing they're doing some sort of collaboration between the two for a single or ep or something. Either way I'm excited about that.

 

 

And as much I love Periphery's work and self-titled album, I think I'm more psyched for the new Born Of Osiris album than Juggernaut. The Discovery was a brilliant album in so many aspects, so I'm excited to see how will they top it. If you like Periphery and ASL check out Born of Osiris's The Discovery or even Volumes Via. They each have their own take on the progressive metal djent thing with awesome production.

 

And here's the band working on Juggernaut.

I'm really hoping it's a double disc release.

Yeah, they ended up bringing forth the release date. It's out on April 1st now. I actually randomly decided to pre-order the limited edition last night. It comes with an extra EP and a full picture/photo book of some kind.

 

Kind of looking forward to anything new by Girugamesh too, though nothing has been confirmed or said yet. They had two singles last year, and I liked both. Feels like they finally found a sound they're fine with (and which imo fits them. They've been hanging around with the likes of SiM and Man With a Mission anyway)
