Because people are elitist and believe in keeping things to themselves, unfortunately. Also, there's the whole huge thing about credit. People want credit for everything and people had this thing where they hated all the mexican/spanish people and their blogspots where they'd post links of downloads they stole. A lot of people weren't happy about it.

I remember going through the stresses of this whole rarez thing a few years back. I forget how, but there are a few people that a notable for having rare things, and once you get to know who they are, you can use your super ultra rarez!11!  thing to trade and what not. The more you have, the more popular you'll become and you'll be introduced into a world of all these people. It's honestly unnecessary stress.

I do remember that TW had a secret forum for trading/sharing rarez, but you had to obtain a certain status... Not sure what it's like now though :x

And yea, knowing people in Japan helps too

Got to see my first jband ever despite being in the fandom for 10 year now :')

    Went to see ONE OK ROCK in Toronto. Super awesome!! They're coming back in the summer for Warped Tour, but they'd be the only band i'd go and see since the lineup for Warped sucks these days;;;

Basically, the admins and mods discussed and decided to turn it into a Cat Café forum, what with growing concerns over the US cracking down on downloads.

This is the end of Monochrome Heaven and the beginning of a new forum, where we discuss cats, pets, coffee, pies and the like.
I'm sure the mods have already started feeding old uploads and dead links to their CATs to get rid of the evidence.

Haven't visited Japan yet, despite lusting for it over the past 10 years or so. It's just not my time I guess.

I have however, visited Hawaii (island of Oahu) and that was like the next best thing to Japan or Korea (or at least I felt like it was). Tons of Japanese tourists and lots of things catered to them, so it was practically like being in Japan! They have a lot of Japanese stores as well as certain famous restaurants and ramen houses. Plus, of course, there's the amazing sights of tropical paradise (almost like Okinawa?)~ I seriously recommend it if you can't get to Japan or feel a little overwhelmed with the idea of being outed as a  'gaijin'. It's still the US, so you won't be looked at or treated funny for speaking English. It's not cheap, but it's worth it for beach lovers, city explorers, nature lovers and photography junkies (it's seriously heaven for landscape shots!!). It's also ridiculously rich in culture and quite an amazing experience. It's something you need to soak in for a while. I went for 5 days and trust me, that is not enough. Definitely planning on making my return for a longer period of time.

I haven't traveled all that much outside of North America so I can't really recommend much. I do agree that New York City is an awesome and exciting place! If you're a big city person I absolutely recommend it as there is so much to do, especially (but not limited to) Manhattan.

I do hope to make a trip to Asia one day. I'm not too big on wanting to visit Europe, however I would love to see the UK and the Scandinavian countries :')

Here are some pics of my room!

^ The back of my room. Books, books, and more books (I even had to shift 2 bookshelves into my bro's room >.<) flanked by some random posters...

^ Front of my room with my bed, working area, and a CD rack - my collection's too scattered and the rest are in a cupboard outside cuz my room's way too small...

Oh hells yea Scandal! I didn't even know they had flyers lol.

Uh, I currently have a xTRiPx flyer up and a tokidoki calendar. It's not my house so I'm not allowed to put stuff on the walls. I do have a few band posters lying around just waiting for a wall to be hung on

Currently messed up. I usually like to be in bed between 9:30-10:30 because I wake up at 6. Then on Friday & Saturday night, I somehow manage to stay up to past 1am. I have also been known to go to bed at 7pm on some days xD

Thanks for the Kanji I fully agree that it's a reflection on coming to terms with the past and, accordingly, the band's own history.

Here's my take on the lyrics (some extrapolations based on the context in parentheses):

To look ahead without being depressed
Being able to say, "Well that's alright"
Cuz i'm thinking I'm not going to destroy them:
The fragrance of lilies and that nostalgic place.
But the midday bell tolls and I must go
It wasn't much, but I stashed my desire to (stay)
How many people can (my thoughts) reach?
Having etched all our different lives into my mind,
It's ok just like this; isn't it fine?

It's been a while since I've done any translating, but here's the super duper rough/general idea. Keep in mind though, it's a play on words/sounds. The names arent actually in the lyrics, but the way certain symbols are pronounced, sounds like names.

Also, I havent looked at the song in its entirety, so I'm not 100% on context, however I'm sure it has something to do with xTRiPx's history (hence past<future)

Looking out on before, I wasn't feeling depressed
"Ah, no way" kind of skills cuz i thinking of going off and destroying it. In a desired place like Kaoru Yuri When the midday bells ring, I do not want to leave It was only a little, but I hid my playing heart and i, am I reaching everyone?  It is carved that it's our way of life This is oK! Isn't this considered a good thing?
And for those who want to correct me (please do):

    滅入ってないで前を見な 「まあいいや。」な技さ cuz i thinking 壊して行きねえさあ 百合のカヲル懐かしい場所 正午の鐘が鳴る、もう行かなくちゃ ちょびっとけど遊び心潜ませた 何人に届くのかな?and i 俺たちの生き様を刻む これでoK!良しとすっか

Or maybe they spent $50+ on a CD that was given out for free at a concert with 1 song on it and, quite frankly, don't want it to be on every corner of the internet so your dying blogspot or awful tumblr gets more hits on a rinkydink visiter counter applet. And of course, they'll have to make another thread for the same thing because it wasn't ripped in lossless: I need to be able to hear the vocalist's spit hitting the microphone or music will not cure my cancer!!

Of course there's elitism. The only way to get what you want out of people who don't like to share in order to feel good about themselves is to have something they want. If you want a live distributed album that was only pressed into 20 copies from someone in Japan who has it,  you're going to need some collateral. Calling them a cunt on a last.fm shoutbox isn't going to change their minds either.

tl;dr : people think they're holier than thou because they have certain things, but at the same time everyone else also feels super entitled to having everything and any quality as soon as they read a thread Trombe wrote saying it was maybe released maybe not who knows

    ~Privilege is a two way street~

Also echoing what Tokage said. The overwhelming majority of rarez really aren't good in terms of quality or even good songs. Sometimes they end up just being samples or members mumbling over an instrumental version of a song they already put out or, more often then not, they're samples of a CD that never gets released because they break up 5 minutes later. Additionally some things aren't even "rare," so much as people stopped caring about them for 5 years and all the links to it died.

I can't give you any information as to the process of trading rares (since I don't have any), but I can say that I find the process inherently terrible. Lets be clear, the process of downloading music is illegal, no questions asked. But what bothers me isn't when people are trying to share out of the love of a band or trying to allow people to gain more musical diversity, but instead hold these files over there head like they have ownership over it. It makes you seem like a pretentious fuck and it single-handedly kills whatever good parts file sharing has going.

Allllll the single ladies (and men), put yo' hands up.
I've been in a fair few relationships and I've had my share of regrettable one night stands.
In my opinion, relationships are not all they're cracked up to be and for several years now I haven't been interested in them. My last two were the final straw, really. My ex was controlling, patronising and... to be frank, she was everything I do not find attractive in a person. She would flip her shit if we didn't speak every hour of every day, would accuse me of thinking and feeling things I wasn't, of not being devoted enough and would go on and on about how she couldn't love someone who didn't love her explicitly. If I so much as expressed affection for a friend, she would be furious and I ended up resenting her. Eventually, she had the gaul to cheat on me when she was drunk and I told her I didn't have the physical or mental energy to put up with her.
This was a catalyst, combined with past abusive and destructive relationships, my friends attitude toward promiscuity and fidelity, my parents divorce and other personal matters. It's safe to say I'm turned off relationships for life.
That said, I find it disconcerting how much young girls rely on relationships. All I hear them talk about is boys, as if they're the be all and end all. The amount of girls wanting to have boyfriends, husbands, babies so young is appalling to me. One of my sister's friends is fifteen and pregnant, she wants to be a full-time mother and have as many kids as possible. It's all everyone, especially girls, seem to care about.
To be honest I have never been so content as I am focused on myself and my happiness. I work, I study, I socialise with friends and I don't need a significant other to validate me. I've been called pathetic for it a couple of times and my grandmother believes I should be married and settled down by now (at twenty-two!) but I have a hard enough time dealing with my own idiocy and over sensitivity, I don't want anyone else's baggage. I don't want to get married and I don't want to have children (later in life I might adopt). I want to live, travel and be happy.
