Hi there! I'm Andy. 26. From Argentina. Graphic Design student.... let's see, what else... Started into Jrock/VK with a The Gazette's song: Cassis, years ago, and since then I have been gone and back and gone and back; now I'm mostly a Kaya fan (in fact i freaking worship him lol), but i like to see/hear what's new from the bands i like (Versailles, the gazette, screw, alice9, D, matenrou opera) and what's new in general.
I think you'll find me, most likely, gushing about how perfect Kaya is, but i'll check other threads too
    Later!

Downloading western music: log into rutracker, download the band's entire discography in flac in just a few clicks.
Downloading japanese music: search each album individually on MH, jpopsuki, soulseek, rutracker and random brazillion blogs, then spend half an hour finding the rar password and fixing the tags only to find out the rar was corrupted.

Just conspiracy theorizing here but could NB be heading into a new era?

Back in 2011, when they released those two singles, the logo/font was different.

In 2012, when they re-debuted as a VK band with the "Ivy" mini album, the font/logo was different.

Last year when they released "Zetes", the font/logo changed for the first time since their re-debut and is much more simple.

With this greatest hits album, the font/logo is the same as the one they used with "Zetes" - which is strange considering the album consists of mostly the works from 2012-2016 (aside from A day to remember).

Just a stan theory is all.

Will definitely make sure to check this one out. Sounds promising.

They really are relaxing. I could do literally anything while listening to their music —be it reading a book, doing some homework or simply just concentrating on the music. It's a brilliant album imo even though for some mysterious reason it didn't seduce me after my first spin. Now I love it. And I agree, the strong moments are really that strong.

I played the album today again and man, this tune is absolutely fantastic. I really  love the shit out of it:

Cyranoi anyone? Same guy who mixed Unveil Raze's album mixed this album as well.

    Speaking of Bolt Thrower:

I don't expect anything new, but someone mentioned a while ago that the band were raising funds to buy back some drum tracks Kiddie tracked some years ago. Perhaps they will release something new after all?

Yeah they clearly have a western sound to me as well, which is probably why it was more appealing to me more than the usual stuff? Idk.

I'm checking out Dementia as we speak. A sort of progressive melodic death metal band. They sound very original, mostly because of the unusual keyboard work that pops up quite frequently on their latest album, Dreaming in Monochrome. They formed all the way back in 1989 and released their first demo in 95 and debut album in 96, and they have five albums to their name. I haven't heard their earlier albums, but this sounds really good. I love the 70's prog vibe this album had going for itself.

I can hear elements of Opeth, Edge of Sanity, Ayreon and lots of 70's prog rock. Highly recommended. I'll play this quite a lot in the coming time, especially the 18 minute closer. That song has a lot to offer and it's a lot to get into, but that is 18 sweet minutes for sure. I recommend the entire album, but if you only bother one song, make sure it's the last track of the album, Dreaming in Monochrome.

Should be noted that they get more and more brutal the further back into their discography you dig, to where their debut is a grindcore album. Sloppy, downtuned and grinding as fuck. Got more melodic with a bigger focus on groove, melodies and leads as the years went on, and they are often called the Iron Maiden of death metal. Quiye fittingly too, if you ask me.

Be sure you don't miss their Peel Sessions, too. Peel Session releases are always of great quality, and Bolt Throwet's may be the finest of them all.

Bolt Thrower are one of the best and most consistent death metal bands ever. I do recommend starting with their oldest shit first, though. But it's astill band you can't go wrong with. Most excellent!

I had put 9000 yen into my Japanese PSN account in preparation to buy Ryu ga gotoku 6 (which is listed at 8800 yen or so)... only to randomly click on my Play Asia bookmark and find out they were selling it for $40 US as part of their weekly special sale.. so I jumped on that.. Then I got upset because I had no idea what to use that 9000 yen on.. most worthwhile Japanese games are being localized into English relatively quickly..

BUT! Today I was reminded of the existence of Dragon Quest XI. It's supposed to come out this year and I'm pretty sure the Western version hasn't been announced yet. Prime candidate for buying on Japanese PSN.

I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the brown-haired dude being the hero, and not the way-cooler-looking spiky-blue-haired dude. Please share your hair gel with the hero, his hair is flat af.
Also, not sure about the somewhat-jarring dissonance between the cartoony characters and the approaching-realistic-looking environment. Some of the ladies/kids especially look weird, with their huge Toriyama anime eyes. But look at those cute kitty monsters!!! And that attractive purple-haired lady!  I hope she joins the party.. Anyway, regardless of artstyle issues, still really pumped for a real mainline turn-based Dragon Quest game on PS4.

.. I just hope the price is 9000 yen or lower..... FFXV is 9500 yen on PSN.. stupid non-standard Japanese pricing... I'll be PISSED if I have to get another PSN card.

(interesting side note.. the official site still makes zero mention of the already-confirmed Nintendo Switch version.. only shows PS4 and 3DS.. weird. maybe it will come much later)

New Black Magic SS is up for listen at their bandcamp. Sounds excellent as usual. This will with no doubt be up as there as one of the very best releases of the year, just like all their previous releases did. One of the best active bands out there. A mix of psychedelic and occult rock, doom metal and black metal with a strong occult vibe. I just can't get enough of these guys. One of the best bands out there, as previously said.

@VisutoxI really like the album. I find their tunes almost relaxing and have fallen asleep to them a couple times at night.  As a whole I like it but I have a couple complaints, I feel that some of the tracks are a little long with some dull moments, however when they go all in boy do they go all in. When fen goes all out it is glorious

Actually I had planned to check out Lunar Poetry since it's the one that people use to mention a lot statistically, so I'm listening the album as we speak. Will make sure to check out the essentials you mentioned too.

This thread is dedicated to instrumental metal music. I have quite a catalogue of good instrumental metal bands, from djentlemen music to technometal and figured I'd spread some of that over here for people who don't particularly care about vocals. Are there MH people who dig this too? Here's some picks of not-so-widely-known instru-metal (I skipped the obligatory Animals As Leaders, Russian Circles, Cloudkicker, and Pelican).
