Tetora got a reaction from Cereal Killer 13 in My Opinion on Nocturnal Bloodlust`s Recent Remarks and Actions against `Piracy`
Although we have kind of covered some 0f these topics, they seem to persist, and I will post my feelings towards Kurenai`s statements.

How will them having a second job enable them to be supported by a record label, move units, warrant a budget provided by the label, production costs, equipment costs, etc?

And do you want them to continously pay from their own alternate revenue, to pay for equipment, production, distribution, etc... To provide a product that will either be bootlegged by fans who wanta free product on someone else`s dime, or distributed to fans who supposedly deserve it for free?

And those people have a limited range of customers, limited production capabilities, presentation capabilites, limited effect on the music business, etc...

And how does charging for a product make you a prostitute? First of all, prostitutes have a valued commodity that they assign a monetary value and charge for use... That is business.

Second of all, music is a form of entertainment, and it is always a product. There is no reason to expect it to be free.

Yes, it is a beautiful thing that many people assign a great value to... So if people work their @sses off to provide an experience that can move you, and even change your life, that provides you with hours and hours of entertainment and pleasure... You think you deserve it for free? There`s no value to it besides you getting the product with no work on your part?

And yeah, I see people talking trash about Nocturnal Bloodlust in particular, as a member`s statement started this thread. I am not the hugest fan, but obviously the band is talented, and they put out a product people see value in. If anyone wants to provide a recording of their own vocals or guitar playing etc... That can be a suitable substitute for that presented in Nocturnal Bloodlust`s recordings, I would love to hear it.

And yes, a lot of people do it for fun, and they don`t have the reach or impact of those in the studio system that everyone seems to despise. Money is just a side-effect mostly for people that don`t want to grow something.

I would like to see VK and music I think has value in general grow. And that doesn`t happen without some monetary input.

Take a look at the booklet for any average VK band and look at all the staff involved in a release, then factor in the band, then think of the profit they need to move forward and invest in new releases and ventures...

This isn`t sustainable by one dollar donations. If bands can sustain a career with a decent profile through means like these, then we can talk about this, but as of now, the studio system still reigns because it is the best system that peopel have found to work with.

And again... People say that only a small percentage of money goes to the band when you buy a cd... As I stated, what about all the people involved in the release besides the band? They don`t deserve money either but everyone deserves a free entertainment product? What about cost of printing CD`s, distribution, etc? And if you say, oh, go digital... The country these bands are from don`t really want digital products, so let`s not suggest changing their very healthy music market so we can maybe buy another album if we feel like in degraded quality over the web.

To be honest, I am just expressing my views here, and I realize they are just my own views... Other people have their own, and while I believe in mine, I can accept others have views, and they are not neccessarily `wrong`. Hopefully we can discuss this amicably, and not fight each other.

They come from a VK label, where they were seen as a VK band, played and continue to play shows and do appearances with VK bands, were touted as the unstoppable VK band when they started cracking the Oricon top 10, still have the same core style and occasionally over the top outfits as they did before they went major, and decided to base their Mousou Nikki collaboration around VK bands.
But if you believe they arent a VK band, more power to you.

    Hello,

This has been going on for a little while now, but many people are discussing in various places so I decided to make a thread.

Nocturnal Bloodlust has also issued warnings on Youtube, and filed violations on users, stating that they will sue all culprits, etc...

I would like to share some quotes from Otaking, Co-Creator of Gainax and Evangelion, amongst other works:

    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-04-21/gainax-co-founder-okada-shares-thoughts-on-illegal-copying

There is also another quote I remember from the Gurren Lagann era, where one Gainax employee stated:
We don`t pay much mind to people wanting to illegally download our product, we focus more on making a product so good that fans will want to buy it.

IMO unlike even anime, VK and other Japanese music isn`t structured in a way that permits fans to find it, get into it, or become fans without illegally downloading sometimes large amounts of music.
It is a complex situation, but removing all downloads and unauthorized videos online will only harm the industry at this point. There is more I would like to say, but I will just post the most pertinent of my current thoughts at the moment.

And yes, although I buy all my music, I still believe downloading is the only way Japanese music stays Internationally somewhat known atm.

    Thanks for reading.

If you are broke you have bigger issues than being entertained, especially being spoonfed every single piece of entertainment that you demand when there is already an endless supply of free entertainment available to you.
It's clear that this whole viewpoint on not 'sharing' (a term used to put some kind of bs feel good spin on giving out other people's hard work for free) being 'selfish' (because you are entitled to the labor of other people while you sit at home) is a load of crap solely fabricated to rationalize taking as much as you can from others while not giving back.
And give us a break with the whole theory that a band dies because not enough people got their work for free, especially with a live DVD. It's not up to 'fans' with no experience in the record industry and possibly no work experience what-so-ever to decide what marketing plan should be used.
It is far from elite to buy a cd or dvd, and if you don't care about the opinion's of others then ignore them, they didn't exactly insult you, but you sure are condescending to them.
Lately you post very frequent negative comments and conspiracy theories over and over in different topics but the second someone disagrees with you or has another point of view you snap.
Nobody is trying to stop you from believing that downloading is helping a band stay alive, or that the Earth is flat or whatever equally believable thing you want to post, so give other people the same respect and let them say what they want on a site that is based on discussion. If you want to argue then do it in a civil manner and don't post rhetoric theories and act like everyone who doesn't agree with you is an elitist jerk killing the record industry.
    Just my opinion.
Anyway, to pretend to be on topic:
Cool band, hope to see what they come up with next.

Tetora got a reaction from Reiko in Post your "UNPOPULAR" music opinions!
Conclusion of Studies on Humanoid Subjects in Dimension 113XR:

Music, like drugs, simulates emotions and feelings, triggers chemical responses, and can often replace the need to actually accomplish things in life, experience things outside of the Humanoid`s own head, and so forth.

Even feelings such as sadness become wired so that the user starts to enjoy them, and latches onto sad songs or certain drugs to re-live those feelings, to feel that sadness, and perhaps bring them closer to something they lost, as that sad feeling is all that they have left.

Eventually the chemicals associated either stop firing, or lose their potency.

Subjects move on to the next song, the next drug, pursuing an endless cycle that is first attached to their current station in life, and then morphs into their very station in life.

Bach, later heralded as a great genius, created a new composition weekly as the people would prefer to not be inconvenienced by hearing the same composition two weeks in a row, despite not being able to play it out on their yet-to-be-invented MP3 players and smartphones.

Humanoids take issue with the disposable nature of current music, and debate issues of quality in the music created by certain artist-bots, yet do not discuss how they helped perpetuate the disposable nature of music, and devalue it with their current electronic ecosystem of downloading as much music as their computers and patience can handle, for free, and decide that they hate an artist or release after listening to the creation a grand total of quite possibly one full rotation, or less. The humanoid then proceeds to either delete the files, or leave them to mingle with countless other files in a forgotten corner of their computer drive.

If it amuses the user, they may partake in spreading ill words about the work and artist for as long as they can continue to receive attention for it. They can often spend more time partaking in this activity than actually listening to the work itself.

The subjects often place listening to music for pleasure higher than consuming drugs, although both often provide similar results, and unfortunately, Humanoids can not be as socially accepted for an act which is more obviously based around instant stimulation, similar to masturbation, and can not as easily argue that they are entitled to free drugs, or download drugs for free and cut profits for the grower or meth-lab industry in half.

The subjects argue that music can spread emotions and ideas in a unique way, yet this is left out of most critical review and analysis, where technical aspects are often favored. This also perplexes older Humanoids who wonder how Bach and The Beatles made way for Dubstep and works that fall into the current Pop Top 40.

Humanoids have also failed to create an agreeable criteria for rating music or its quality, despite having centuries to do so, and often resort to arguments or acts of downright hatred when they continuously re-discover that they are unable to share or sometimes even communicate their feelings and tastes to others without disagreement.

All of these issues and the striking similarities between music and drug-use have led us to come to the conclusion that music should be removed from the dimension that Humanoids inhabit, and that their brains should also be altered in order to remove the sectors that enable what they identify as taste`s and opinions.

Hey everyone! I joined this website 2 years ago but I never actually posted something until now! So yeah, I will introduce myself a little bit and I hope I can make friends here! First, I'm from Canada and my native language is french, so if anyone speak french here, feel free to reply in french!

I'm 25 years old, and I work in a drugstore. Nothing really special, but I want to travel to Japan, it's my dream!

About music now, let's get to the real deal. My favorite band is Alsdead, as my name suggests it lol. I also enjoy Dir en grey, Nightmare (mostly pre-2012 stuff, but the newer stuff is still cool), The GazettE, Galneryus, Miyavi, Nocturnal Bloodlust, lynch., Deluhi, Girugamesh, Deathgaze, L'arc~en~ciel and a bunch of others!

    I recently got into BLESSCODE.

I also enjoy watching animes, and play video games. My favorite video game is Borderlands 2.

So yeah, feel free to ask anything and I hope we can have fun together! I will try and be active!

Tetora reacted to plastic_rainbow in Japanese Movies
Well, we've got a thread for horror movies and movies you last saw, but why not a thread just for Japanese movies? (i'm sure there isn't already one) This is a community centered around Japanese music after all so I'm sure some of us have seen at least one or a few Japanese movies. I got back into the mood of watching Japanese movies so I thought it'd be neat to have a specific thread to discuss about favorites, least favorites, or any recently seen movies. Discuss about anything Japanese movie related here! Feel free to include anime or live-actions as well~

I often hear people say that Japanese actors can't act, which I can agree with sometimes, but watch Dare mo Shiranai (Nobody Knows) and you'll probably think otherwise. Heck, the protagonist even won a best actor award. But be warned that it's not a movie for everyone. If you've seen enough Japanese movies you may recognize that most Japanese movies are slow-paced, tragic, and depressing (depending on what you watch I guess). But a lot of them are very good so I keep watching them, haha. Plus, I do love tragic films.

Other than Dare mo Shiranai, another favorite of mine is All About Lily Chou-Chou. A powerful and harrowing film revolving around the complexities of teenagers and the role of music as a salvation. I think it's a film quite relatable to many of our teenage selves. It also has an amazing soundtrack contributed with Japanese singer Salyu, and a few of Claude Debussy's pieces. Unfortunately, the film is rather lengthy and it may be hard for some to sit through, but I still like it nevertheless.

I must also mention Kokuhaku (Confessions) because it was probably the movie that got me into watching other Japanese movies. It's a pretty well-known movie outside of Japan too. Great dark psychological thriller based on a novel (which I've still yet to read).

I can talk about more of my favorites, but I'll mention one last movie. It's called Fish Story and is perhaps the first uplifting Japanese movie that I really enjoyed. IMO it has a well thought-out storyline and has some good character development. Plus, you get a glimpse on some of the struggles within the music industry through a punk band. Just a fun movie to watch~ (also based on a novel)

Okay~~ What Japanese movies have you seen?? Any recommendations?
